FPB 78 for sale.
The ultimate in explorer yachts - FPB 78-01, from 2016, is available fresh from a major refit at Berthon's Lymington HQ. At a cost of circa £1m, it included a new twin cabin forward, crew accommodation with crew mess aft, total rework of the Matrix deck with a new aft deck aft of this, Lithium Ion battery set up and full rework of her navigational and management systems. She is extraordinary. Totally ready for a world cruise she is also European VAT paid. World cruising without limitation.

So quiet you think the mic isn't plugged in, then the door to the swim deck opens up, you hear the water coming out behind the stern and think, holy crap that boat is so peaceful while underway. Steve and Linda build a hell of a boat.

So sad they’re not making any more of these, nor selling their plans so someone else can. Always been fascinated with this design in this line of yachts. I guess I need to run out and buy a lotto ticket.
Yes, I so wish they'd let somebody take over production. The FPBs are as good as a boat gets, and there are so very few.
Circa Marine is making a similar boat. They may still hold plans, they sure still show the FPBs on their site. Not sure what the deal is
from their site:Circa is also home to the FPB range of explorer yachts, designed by Dashew. The range comprises the FPB 64, FPB 70, FPB 78, FPB 97 etc.......

Great tour and video, narration was classy. As an ex-submariner, nuclear fast attack sailor, this ship has the closest level of systems, engineering and design ethic I have seen in a civilian "yacht", I would trust this little ship anywhere.
I feel the same was as you. SSN-678 here. Worked in engineering (nuke) so I appreciate how this boat it built.
My favorite boat of any I've seen for sale. I hope she's available (again rather than still; I don't want you to have to wait that long!) when I'm ready to buy, in a couple years. She's my ideal boat. And the refit is incredible -- she looks like she's even better now than the Dashews made her. Simply brilliant.
Ah, Steve and Linda's own FPB - this 78 is especially special. I would love the opportunity to visit this boat while it is in Lymington (from London).

I would be so happy to see this, or any other FPB boat, document a trans ocean voyage with the new Sharrow propeller designed props. The gains in efficiency and range would seem, based on early results, to put the FPB boats into a completely new range and cruising speed.
The internal fitout feels like the inside of a space ship. Very special ships.

I may have missed it but there appeared to be no natural light in the owners cabin? I did not see any windows or hatches.
I watched the video the owners did, they sailed the sea’s most of their lives, this boat is built on their knowledge of those travels. Whoever buys this boat is going to have it forever, because that’s what they are, these boats are forever boats, they’ve traveled the seven seas and all the oceans, you name the body of water and chances are this hull has seen all it has to offer.

Engine room and watertight bulkheads look really good. I’d be worried about the vulnerability of the huge matrix windows to breakage in passage making full gale or hurricane seas, Drake passage, Cape Agulhas , Bouvet Island,etc.
I'm sure there's video of this very yacht in some pretty heavy seaways coping effortlessly.
Lookup the DashewOffshore UA-cam channel and watch their video titled "The Way to Weather | Upwind Cruising from Fair to Survival Conditions | FPB and Sail"; you will see the FPB design yachts doing a fair imitation of a submarine in some rough conditions without any problems.
Cochise's great room windows are as strong as her topside deck plates. She has storm shutters but they've never been needed.
I have been thinking for a while that I might downsize to one of these....
