Their take on EWF & Ramsey Lewis’ “Sun Goddess” for the trumpet solo. Even that “Do you feel it” is from some EWF song I cant think of rn. They sound fucking amazing!
Parabens to adorando esses caras sao demais adoraria ter visto um show deles com certeza to baixando tudo que estou vendo deles sao demai um grande abraco do BRAZILestado de MINAS GERAIS cidade DIVINOPOLIS ok .
Always heard that these guys always made it tough for other acts to follow them on stage, but damn!! I always knew they had crazy firepower, it's just too bad they spent so much of their time cloning other bands' songs.
rexx garvin The Bar-Kay’s were innovators at Stax. Once they got to Mercury, though, the Bar-Kay’s bit ANY AND EVERYBODY that had a hit. It doesn’t matter if the Bar-Kay’s were out first or not. If EWF, the Commodores, Cameo, Prince or whoever had a hit, the Bar-Kay’s had a sound-alike song out 6 months to a year later. EWF did “Shining Star”; Bar-Kays then did “Too Hot To Stop.” They really had a thing for EWF! EWF did “Earth, Wind & Fire” (from SPIRIT); the Bar-Kays did “Attitudes.” EWF did “On Your Face”; Bar-Kays did “Shine.” EWF did “Fantasy”; Bar-Kays did “Open Your Heart.” The Commodores did “Easy”; Bar-Kays did “Unforgettable Dream.” Rick James did “Super Freak”; Bar-Kays did “Freaky Behavior.” Cameo did “I Just Want To Be” and “Shake Your Pants”; Bar-Kays did “Traffic Jammer.” Cameo did “Sparkle”; Bar-Kays did “ Anticipation.” The time did “The Walk”; Bar-Kays did “Hit and Run.” Prince did “Automatic”; Bar-Kays did “ Sex-o-Matic.” And the most egregious example: Midnight Star did “No Parking On the Dance Floor”; Bar-Kay’s did “Freak Show In the Dance Floor.” That should give you plenty to choose from. Take a listen. There’s a pattern to what the Bar-Kay’s did. It kept them on the charts longer than most other funk bands-including EWF-but they sacrificed their own identifiable sound. And “Nightcruising” sounds like a Rick James song, but others have noted that it uses elements similar to Sky’s “Let’s Celebrate.”
What song from Spirit did they do? Shining Star to me sounds nothing like Too Hot to Stop, that album was all original hits. Their comeback album. You make great points because they did take from other groups but they made it their own.
@@michalbecoat9012 “On Your Face” was on SPIRIT. The Bar-Kay’s did “Shine.” Take a listen. There’s also a song on SPIRIT called “Earth, Wind & Fire”. The Bar-Kays proceeded to do “Attitudes.” You can’t hear the similarities between “Shining Star” and “Too Hot Stop?” Larry Dodson borrows “Well, hey” at the beginning. James Alexander’s main groove on the verses is pretty much the same aswhat Verdine Whit used on “Shining Star.” He even uses some of Verdine’s fills in the process.

OMG! These guys can really play. Criminally underrated band. One of my all time favorites...
These cats were definitely not underrated. They ruled the airwaves in the 70s and early 80s but I know what you mean.
Hmm!...you do realize that these dudes were the house band for stax records, played on many hits!
