    Thanks for this info.. im traveling to SG next month. May i ask the last trip from Changi airport towards clark quay? Or its better to take a grab from the airport going to the hotel since its already evening time?

    • @simplifytravel
      @simplifytravel  4 місяці тому

      The last time from changi airport is around 2318. But depends on how late is your arrival time, taking the train will save u more $, although u need to transfer the stations. Grab is the only choice if u miss the last train.

    Hi. I got a 'Tourist Pass Plus' when I visited Singapore in 2018. I'll be in Singapore again in a few weeks - will I still be able to top it up and use it again? I guess that I can use a foreign (UK) credit card to do this, but and will I get a surcharge fee for this?

    • @simplifytravel
      @simplifytravel  9 місяців тому

      You can check the from the top-up machine in any MRT station. You can refer to this video on the "step 4", where it will show you the validity of the card. - ua-cam.com/video/5HgnrJ-U5O0/v-deo.html
      Each EZ-Link card has a lifespan of 5 years from the date of encoding. But do check from the top-up machine again.
      And Yes, foreign credit card can be use to tap in and out in any public transportation in Singapore, but remember that they are subject to administration fee, you can check with your bank on the fee.

    As a frequent “tourist”, I’ve been coming here every year for 20 years already, I rely on EZ-link card, NETS Flaspay card a NETS Prepaid card. They work great together. My European MasterCard works fine for travel to but it’s not accepted in the top-up machines at the stations, so need to top up with cash. Also using the new NETS Prepaid park should work everywhere NETS is accepted but the peoples at the counters still find it hard to choose the correct payment modes on the cash registers.

    • @simplifytravel
      @simplifytravel  11 місяців тому

      Till now, i don't even know much about the Nets prepaid card, :)..thanks for mentioning, good to know about it.
      And i dig in a bit on it, i thinks its a great alternative for tourist too, as it stored a certain value that can be use throughout Singapore. It's somehow safer than losing a credit or debit card.
      Although it can be refund to the bank account, in case it was lose or the 5 years validity of the card expired, but sadly only Singapore based bank account is supported.
      And if you link your card to the NETS Apps, you can actually top up your card with your foreign credit/debit card.
      Here's the link for your reference, and the FAQ on top up with foreign credit/debit card: (remember to click the see more option) - www.nets.com.sg/nets/for-you/nets-prepaid-card#faq

    Does 1 day pass period starts from the time we purchase ? If i purchase on suppose 10th May at 2pm so it will be valid till next day 2pm for 24 hours period?

    • @simplifytravel
      @simplifytravel  2 місяці тому

      This is based from the website, "The duration and validity of the pass is based on the operating hours of the basic public transport system, 1-day coverage of the pass begins from your 1st usage of the pass to the end of the public transport service for that day."
      So if start using on 10th May, it will end on 10th May of that day until end of the transport service for that day.

      Hi, sorry for the late reply, because i wait for another day to experiment your query.
      I bought the pass and wait for another full day, (use on the 3rd day) before i use the 1 Day Pass, and the answer is, it still work! That means, you can buy it at night and use it on the next day.
      But please remember that, you will only be able to get a refund of the rental deposit within five days from the day of purchase. Not from the activation date of your pass.

      Hello, if you think you are going to travel a lots using the train or bus and making use of the pass "PERKS & DISCOUNTS"
      (thesingaporetouristpass.com.sg/perks-discounts/), i would recommend the tourist pass. Clear as much attractions with the pass on the first 3 days (3 days pass). Then you can retain the pass and top it up with cash and use it as a normal cash card. (For the Singapore Tourist Pass, if you decide to retain the card, you can't refund your deposit.)
      But if you just mainly use it for public transport, i think the normal EZLink card is good enough.

      But if your kid is above 0.9m in height, then your kid need a pass too.

      If the tourist pass is not preferred.
      The only option that i can think of is the Singtel $18 hi!Tourist 2-in-1EZ-Link SIM. Only if you also require a SIM card in Singapore, as the card also have the EZ-link function where you can top up with cash. The card has a $3 card value for you to ride the MRT and bus, you can top up depending on how often you take the MRT or bus. The downside is that, it is not unlimited ride.

    Don't be conned into buying a Tourist Pass. If you just make a few trips on public transport use your overseas bank card, the charges are minimal. If more than a few then an EZ-Link card is worth getting. No one gets three days travel from a Tourist Pass because it's valid from the time it's issued until midnight on day three. The other way you'll lose money is that they they're only sold/returned at a quite restricted number of locations. You'll have to pay to get to one of those locations and then back after you return it. Are you really going to waste a hour of your time to get back a £10 deposit? Even if you never return to Singapore the most you'll lose on an EZ-Link card is $5. If you do return, within five years of purchase, you simply carry on using it. You can even lend it to friends/family if they travel there.
    Public transport costs are so low in Singapore you'd need to take a lot of trips to make a saving, even if you were to go to the inconvenience of getting your deposit back. Singapore is great but the Tourist Pass is just a rip off.

    • @simplifytravel
      @simplifytravel  8 місяців тому

      Yes, Singapore public transport is cheap compare to other countries. If don't mind foreign charges for oversea bank card, then i think it is the best choice to explore Singapore, it's easy, just tap and go.
      The tourist pass is just another options for tourist, they can choose to either keep it as souvenir later or take advantage of some of the additional attraction benefits it comes with.

    • @simplifytravel

      - Taking MRT from Changi Airport to bugis one way is around SGD$1.89, you can use this link to calculate other route - www.lta.gov.sg/content/ltagov/en/map/fare-calculator.html
      - They don't sell single one way ticket anymore.
      - Remember you can use your own oversea bank credit/debit card instead, just tap and go. Just that there is a foreign administrative fee, do check with your bank. (Just for reference, the max charge for either local buses or MRT won't exceed SGD$3, depending on distances)
      - Or getting an eZ-link card at Changi Airport station at SGD$8 from the vending machine with stored value of SGD$3. If the Singapore tourist pass is not for you.
