Exactly the reason i got 350’s was to beat match by ear without waveform while using a club-like setup, the beat grid is enjoy and the vinyl design is pretty sexy.
Got a pair of these for around $350 in Kyiv early in 2021 - a perfect setup if you start as a DJ or want to save space. The next thing you want to do afterwards is switching to vinyl turntables as 350s teach you to beatmatch "by ear" which is super cool :)
Definitely worth buying even nowadays and in future as well of course. Whoever wants the real oldschool vibe of dj-ing this is a great choice, especially if you have a lot of CD-s. Vinyl would still the best experience overall, but to achieve a decent sound quality that would be more expensive. Only downside of these cdj players is the screen still shows the bpm, but this can be easily resolved to cover that part of the screen with a sticker.
Once I had a set of 350, then I bought another one instead, and finally I got back to them. you can have very good parties with them without difficulty. and if you connect software you know everything you need with a built-in sound card. the sound is very good thanks to the Burr-Brown Digital to Analog Converter. It is well worth what it offers not accidentally stayed in production at pioneer dj and avaliable after 10 years.
I'm still using them LOL been using them since 2014 - 2 CDJ-350W's and a DJM-350W.. but mostly with Rekordbox DJ ever since they became compatible with RB DJ. Because I learned to DJ with these, I have never ever used the sync buttons on the software, I beatmatch by ear.. but yeah, seeing the waveforms have been very helpful and RB DJ provides that feature
for that price tag, you're almost at the 850s or you can get cdj 1000 mk3s which even throw you back further in time so you need to burn your tracks on CDs... But they have a waveform display. Spoiler alert: Having CDs adds haptic feedback to interacting with your music. It comes with a L O T of disadvantages though, compared to how you can start DJing today ;)
350. The 400 has a serious issue with over to 32GB pen drives, and even with less than 32 are not well recognized on that unit. Despite it being "numerically" superior, it has an older hardware than the 350. So, I'd stick with the 350s.
The fact it can force you to learn to beat-match by ear automatically made me want it

thanks for a thoughtful comment buddy!
It has a beatlock function that does not exist on the other cdj. I use them with a Djm 450+ DDJ-xp2 and rekordbox. Very happy with this setup at home.

It takes a lot more skill to play these than the more up-to-date ones.

Great overview thank you
Would you rather buy a pair of cdjs 400 or 350 ?
I can’t choose:(
350.

the reason they dont make sense its that they usually same price as 850 or very close, no idea why
i learned to dj with a pair of these
No possibility of seeing cue points either right??😢
better go with CDJ 850 unless you need a smaller player
i have tested several 850's, and they all seemed to have a problem with having a correct pitch.
Lol, The "limitations" defines a "DJ" not a fly-by-night chance taker
i give a second life with traktor
Why would you want to buy a controller with a sync button , defeats the purpose of mixing
They are old ...times have changed. Its like having a nokia 3210 , good bit of kit at the time but not anymore.
How much
Of course, playing by ear is great, but do you have time for it today? however, the screen will make things easier. 🙂

How do you record audio mixes on CDJ 350
Rec out on your mixer.
Dane Mills
Or just buy the XDJ r1 for the same price as 1 CDJ 350, it’s basically 2 CDJ a with mixer & hot cues memory cues & sound colour affects

No its not, can't use rekordbox export with the 400,
unfortunately the CPU performance of the cdj 400 is poor.
Cdj 400 not loading waw, just mp3
