There was no Islam or Muslim religion during the Gana empire. Muslim came later after 7th century when the Almoravids came but in limited numbers because the empire's religion was purely African traditional religion. Most of the story the learned man talking about happened after the fall of the capital, Kumbi Saleh. There were 44 kings ruled in Gana before the end of the first millennium. About 300 CE or AD Gana had reached its zenith. Kumbi Saleh fell to the Arabs in 1077 and that's the reason why our ancestors left for our modern place.

Thanks my friend. The man has no geographical sense. I have done more research on our link to ancient Ghana. I lived in the Senegal area. I travelled extensively in Mali, Senegal and Mauritania back in the 1980s. I can put holes in the theory of Ghanaian coming from Mauritania and Mali area.

Very distorted history. What has Papua Guinea got to do with Ghana's history. Papua Guinea is close to Australia and Indonesia. Our history researchers must critically now use science to easily establish the fact. The kingdom of Bono Manso was in existence before the collaspe of Ancient Ghana. The Soninkes (Sarahule) who actually formed Ancient Ghana empire is very distinct from any language in present day Ghana. Ascribing the name Ghana to Gold Coast was fine. I respectfully disagree! Dagombas and Akans most likely share DNA with Mossi in Burkina. There are so many of them that look like us and go back to Mali. The Malians i have met look a lot like Asante and Bono folks. The even told me way nack in the late 80's or 90's when Kotoko went there to play. They kept telling themselves we looked a lot like them.
My personal take is we might end being from Old Ghana but we are more like the Malians. The old Mali empire extended yo the North of Ghana, even when Songhai swallowed it up. The Mossi were used as Askia's Calvary.

Kumbi Saleh had never been in Sénégal. Kumbi, Ghana empire capital was just north of Timbuctu in the present Mali. Papua Guinea has always been in Asia. It was during the trading activities Almoravid who had been allowed to settle in Ghana and finally overrun the the empire. Prof Adu Boahen has written among others, how come somebody is trying to re-write our history? Please if you have news prove with documentation. Because books exist written by Ibn Batuta, etc. detailing the trans-Saharan trade where Gana empire is described. Mali arose after the fall of Gana. Sundiata was a great warrior. @@ziontrain9846 actually i studied African history to Upper six, read history extensively. And have travelled extensively. I am in my late 40s in another part of the world. I am not gullible like some folks who easily fall for some videos on youtube trying solve things like a jigsaw puzzle. And by the way there is only one Papua (New) Guinea close to New Zealand. I even had an Uncle and the family lived there for about 10yrs.
