The first picture he ever took was of her. When leaving the concert, Marty told his mom he was going to marry Connie Smith. Connie was also his mom's favorite singer. Years later, after Connie's kids were all out of college, she went back to singing and sought out Marty to produce an album for her (not knowing he was that 12-year old from years ago). Marty had been previously married to Cindy Cash (Johnny's Cash's daughter). Marty & Connie started writing love songs, fell in love, and married a couple years later on July 8, 1997. They're still together and smitten in love with each other. There's a 17 year age difference. Marty consulted with his mother about it and she gave him her blessing.
