It is important to know that you can go into safe mode and reset the number of the com port to a lower value than 9. That is as high as the PIC goes My 2 usb ports were numbered 11 and 12. I found #2 open and changed it to that and now the port link is working. Safe mode, device manager, Properties, advanced...blah blah blah That is what I had to do to get it to finally work. This REALLY should be addressed in the video !!! It actually finally after 15 hrs worked......I did not get instructions !!!! I am running Windows 7.

I hooked this programmer to Windows 7 and it works. On Windows 10 it doesn't work. I've tried 6 version of PL-2303 drivers with no luck including old ones. Is it because this programmer is a clone? How can I tell if it's an original? Will an original work with Windows 10? Is there another solution? Eventually, Windows 7 will be phased out and we'll be screwed.
hi lewis... I have a p89v51rd2bn chip i would like to read. if i put the chip in one direction it displays rows and rows of 0000 or if i put it the other way it reads 3FFF. how do i know what the chip selector needs to be set on and is it reading my chip? any help would be great cheers Ryan
Thank you very much for this video. I am having a problem where it is telling me my com port is not working properly. It shows an exclamation next to the Com port in control panel. I've installed the drivers and am using the same software following this video. Could it be that I am using Windows 10? Do I need to be using an older OS?

Very sorry but do you mean the programmer for this chip PIC12F625? The link means to the net? If this chip is not connected to web for its function, then we able to use K150 to open, modify and then save it?

I know this is a few months old, but I think the question is about the data on IC's actually ON/apart of the k150 pic chip programing device... Not from whatever random chip the individual was doing for their project. Data such as you might find by using one k150 chip programmer to read the brains of a second k150 device as found stock from eBay.

I wonder: is yours a legit programmer from kitsrus.com or an ebay clone like mine? I get those same errors but I need to get some chips to finalize tests. I had to get older PL2303 drivers as well but that's a whole blog post/video....but I do have Windows 10 talking to the chip as Prolific's 'CheckChipVersion' correctly identifies it...

Looking for K150 to work on Windows 10? Since I always end up at this video, probably so are you :-) This video ua-cam.com/video/2PWFle9yGGA/v-deo.html solved it for me, and shows the link to the driver that finally made it work for me on win10. It's the PL2303 v1.2.10 driver you need. Link under that video directs to it. Good luck

Are you sure your USB driver is working? What operating system are you using? What does it say when you try to run it?

Weird question, Can we do this on a honda civic ecu chip?
That is a specialized part. If it is not listed in the programming software then it won't work. I have an alternative I'm working on.

Did you load the USB driver? What port did you selct? What windows Version?

Do you have an actual COM port? New computers don't. In addition the drivers are 32-bit so are you operating a 64-bit machine?

What operating system are you using?
Windows 8 is likely your program. The drivers i use are 32-bit while Windows 8 is likely 64-bit.

Hello my programmer reads the chip reporting all 0s even if there is no chip into the socket is this normal? Shouldn't it report chip not found?

What is a K150 recorder? Do you mean programmer? I'm not sure what you are talking about. I've never used a PIC18F4550.

Not that know of. If you mean check to see if the device is programmed properly that is in software.

Mine came off Ebay. Now there is some problem with pirate USB chips and drivers. The latest drivers in particular with windows 10 won't work.
