All time favorite horror film is by far The Exorcist. It’s the only movie that truly creeped me out and kept my on edge as a kid. Every bump or odd sound I just knew Captain Howdy was there
My favorite horror movie is definitely Evil Dead. Less because of how great the film was but more because of what it started. Evil Dead has gone on to become one of the best horror comics on the market and It jumpstarted Bruce Campbell’s career. On top of that the franchise has been a great inspiration to my own writing.
Another great segment. So many sub-genres from this era, that it's impossible to cover them all in one show-- A couple more popular categories are eye injury and hypodermic needle covers. Favorite horror movie? Heck, I'm old school... my favorite is the 1963 version of "The Haunting".
Evil Dead is probably my favorite horror movie with an honorable mention to Day of the Dead. I saw Evil Dead at the drive-in when I was about 8. It scared the crap out of me! Lol. Another great video guys.
My favorite Horror movie has to be either The Thing or Hereditary. Both of those movies just stuck with me for so long after watching them for the first time
I love any slasher movie honestly. I know it’s not a horror movie but I love a clockwork orange. It just has such a creepy, uncomfortable feeling to it
Love the historical-culture aspect of these pre CCA books. Strange Suspense Stories #19 came out the very same year as the CCA in 1954, probably just squeaked by. Very interesting vid.
Love the shock factor of these books. My favorite is the crime does not pay cover. My favorite horror movie would be the shining. I want to dig for gold now. Really love the videos and all the information you guys provide.thank you
Ryan thanks Ryan, glad your enjoying the content. Hope you do take that step in finding some Gold. Any questions, you can find me on IG at goldenageguru
My favorite horror movie is “The People Under the Stairs.” Wes Craven directed, Black heroes, incestious villains, bdsm suits, horrifying as a kid, hilarious as an adult
I seriously thought I was the only person who digs date stamps and signatures! I also like phone numbers and notes - stuff that makes it more of an artifact than just another comic book! I'll always choose the lower grade "notated" comic every time ;)
Love these pre-cca issues from a sociological perspective. It’s fascinating to see not only what the artists and writers could “get away with”, but also what the demand was and what sold best. I appreciate your insights and especially your discussions on how these covers made or broke the books.
This is why I like collecting comic books because I was never born with all these comics and now I’m getting all the back story for these comics. This channel is always full of great content. The horror genre i am most interested is the werewolf genre. Can’t wait to start my hunt with these pro tips
Great stuff, guys!!! Thank you!!! Isn't it mind blowing to think these books were on the stands? Love Jack Cole art too. Great horror movie? Four Flies on Grey Velvet
Since we're talking about Golden Age I would say my favorite horror movie would be the man who laughs the original Joker😀😀 love these Golden Age books boys keep it up😀
I'm a big fan of the original universal monster movies, but I guess my favorite, more modern, would be "MONSTER SQUAD"! Love the golden age goodness. I'm a sucker for those jet pack covers. Syfy golden age goodness! Thanks guys
Always regard the GA Guru's appearances as must see episodes. A coworker of mine had an uncle who operated a flamethrower in the Pacific during WW2, brutal business, the uncle had nightmares about his experiences throughout his life. The True Crime comics of Lev Gleason were undoubtedly based on actual nationwide and localized crimes ( and possibly actual military crimes relocated to urban settings by the artists and writers who were returning vets). The GA Guru should have had more time to talk about the irony regarding Bob Wood of Crime Does Not Pay comics.
Just a thought but I think the Golden Age Guru needs to do a Top Ten List. Examples: Top Ten LB Cole covers, Top 10 Romance Covers. Not monetary wise but his favs! Would love to see that
Thanx for another GA lesson, guys! Absolutely love these! Keep 'em coming. Favorite horror movie : All of the Dracula movies with Christopher Lee(RIP) and Peter Cushing(RIP), from Hammer Films.
Love these videos, maybe if I saw them earlier in my collecting I wouldn’t have skipped straight to buying original cover art/splash pages 😂. Man those covers are just gorgeous though. Keep up the great work.
This is my favourite video in a loooong time! I'm a big Hammer Horror fan and my fave horror movie is "Dracula A.D. 1972"! Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee... Forget about it!
My favorite horror movie would have to be Candyman. A Nightmare on Elm Street would be close as well. Not because they were really great movies but because I saw both with my wife when we were dating. Elm Street was our first date Candyman was later. Went for chinese after and she couldnt go to the bathroom because she had to walk down a small hallway with a giant mirror. Last horror movie we went to.
Kelvin Nobles the first Nightmare on Elm street was so good. I remember when it came out and really liked number 3 as well. Love the shared story between you and your wife.
it is hard for me on this one cause I don't like much horror but I did like the birds by Alfred Hitchcock and I know that was horror so that's my answer it just took a minute to remember lol
All time favorite horror film is by far The Exorcist. It’s the only movie that truly creeped me out and kept my on edge as a kid. Every bump or odd sound I just knew Captain Howdy was there
Fist of Doom84 a classic and a great choice.
Zoe Kelly big fan as well of Evil Dead.
Another great segment. So many sub-genres from this era, that it's impossible to cover them all in one show-- A couple more popular categories are eye injury and hypodermic needle covers. Favorite horror movie? Heck, I'm old school... my favorite is the 1963 version of "The Haunting".
tartanphantom those are some great examples of other collectible covers for sure.
Evil Dead is probably my favorite horror movie with an honorable mention to Day of the Dead. I saw Evil Dead at the drive-in when I was about 8. It scared the crap out of me! Lol. Another great video guys.

Jared the Thing was awesome. Never saw hereditary.
Child's Play. My mom owned some creepy dolls, so that movie was fantastic for my childhood.
TPB_Reader Chucky is one messed up doll and that movie was creepy as hell when it came out.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers the original film along with Salem's Lot scared the crap out of me as a kid. This makes them still my favourite today.
I love any slasher movie honestly. I know it’s not a horror movie but I love a clockwork orange. It just has such a creepy, uncomfortable feeling to it
I love Signs with Mel Gibson. I live all around farm land so it hit home. Oh. Btws, PART OF IT WAS ALSO FILMED IN MY HOMETOWN WOOHOO!!
Ryan Sperratore Signs was a really good movie. I can see being around farm land why it is a strong influence for you.
Love the historical-culture aspect of these pre CCA books. Strange Suspense Stories #19 came out the very same year as the CCA in 1954, probably just squeaked by. Very interesting vid.

Favorite horror movie is a hard question. The one that scared me the most was the Exorcist, the one that I like the most is Night of the Living Dead.
My favorite horror film is The Thing (1982)
Hunter that was a great movie. That chest opening up with teeth is something I will never forget.
My favorite horror movie is “The People Under the Stairs.” Wes Craven directed, Black heroes, incestious villains, bdsm suits, horrifying as a kid, hilarious as an adult
Amedeo Modigliani I remeber that movie. The commercials felt scarier to me then the movie. They pitches it really well at the time.
That "web of evil" is amazing
tHE rETrO sAVaGe a really intense cover for sure.
Its always great to see the Golden Age Guru ...we want more golden age goodness with someone who knows their stuff! Thank you, sir

I gotta go either evil dead 2 or puppet master. They were so silly and creepy and good and in one whack(pun intended)
Bennie Jones both really good choices. Don’t hear puppet master to often.

You had me at flamethrowers😍 this kid is a savage😂
I knew the GA had some fairly gritty horror covers, but these are pretty dark.
Robert T you are so right and these are just a few of the many other out there. Thanks for watching the show and the support.
I like the Universal Horrors. They go on to make great crossovers in to comics. Favourite? The Mummy (1932)
Nice Vest Tom, gimmick infringement. LOL

One of my favorite horror movies would be House...
Jason Lamberth loved House when it came out. I haven't seen it forever. Used to be on TV a lot.

The creature from the Black Lagoon was the best and first horror film I seen.

Funny to think that Clint Eastwood played a Lab Technician in The sequel ‘revenge of the creature’ in 1955. If only he had his Magnum !
Mask 2, favorite at the moment
Love these videos, maybe if I saw them earlier in my collecting I wouldn’t have skipped straight to buying original cover art/splash pages 😂. Man those covers are just gorgeous though. Keep up the great work.
