@Simon I'd be interested in hearing your opinion of the Davy knot vs the clinch knot. As I get older it becomes much easier. 👀

So sorry about the delay in replying to you, but somehow I missed your comment. We (RIO) did a know test on many fly fishing knots, breaking knots on a fibre testing machine called an Instron. Ut showed us that the Davy knot was one of the weaker knots for tying on a fly - some 20% less strong than an improved clinch or non-slip loops, for example. Easy to tie, yes, but the reduction in strength is a big turn off for me. 😄

Cool video! What's better for a leader - double surgeon or perfection loop?

That's a great question, but simply, the Perfection loop is smaller, neater, and presents the loop far nicer than the double surgeon knot. It's only downside is its breaking strength - about 50% of the tensile strength of the material. This means it is totally fine, and by far the best choice, in thick leader butts of tapered leaders (around 40lb in strength), but if you use a level tippet of, say 4X/7lb, it is too weak.
Glad you enjoyed it - thanks for commenting 😄
