Do a search for Japan United States Pearl Harbor Wreath Ceremony. Then go to images and see all the /many/ times the Japanese have been in Pearl Harbor.
Even though the acts of the Japanese military weren't even the doing of the government in the country, but instead a forced takeover of the military commanders and the emperor, so it's not nearly the same as the governmental decision to bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
America holds no grudge against Japan. In fact, hatred of Japanese people over Pearl Harbor is viewed now as a sign of a sick and disordered mind. It's not often talked about, but there is a deep shade of self-disgust here over Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Maybe that is why my country fights so hard against the proliferation of nuclear weapons, because we used them, and we watched our dark tools turn lives and cities to dust. In our schools, we are taught with shame the internment of Japanese Americans, and that our panicked leaders ever convinced themselves to overwrite our constitution in this way astounds us. So many of our younger generations are so in love with Japanese culture that another fight between us seems not just unlikely, but absurd. Our nations may be strange brothers, but brother we are, still.

I don't know why there are so many comments talking about President Obama apologizing and what country was at fault about the Atomic bombs. Firstly, President Obama did NOT apologize. He was emphasizing that prior to visiting Hiroshima and Japan has also said they were not expecting any apologies. Secondly, the point of this visit was NOT to point fingers and demand apologies. It was about mourning for the victims.
Just one small correction, his main objective, moreso than mourning the victims even, was to further his nuclear non-proliferation agenda and show his dedication to eliminating nuclear weapons.

Have your prime minister come to Pearl Harbor
smithfan22 Did you know that the Japanese Admiral and the American Admiral lay wreaths at the USS ARIZONA every time Japan is in Pearl Harbor for Rim of the Pacific exercises? I've been there as a Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy and witnessed it several times with my own eyes. You'd be surprised at the amount of mutual healing that has taken place between our two countries over the years. Don't destroy that progress with your uninformed comments. Love and respect.

私はアメリカ人です。日本人の皆さんが好きです。
あなたたち日本人全員が好きです。日本出身のあなたたちは私の友達です。私はアメリカ人です。私はあなたの友達です。
I'm not even American or Japanese, but this touched my heart, giving me goosebumps.
👍
That just shows you how strong the alliance between America and Japan is

@Minecraft and Among Us 1930s Germany dreamed of the nationalism and Spartan like fighting force the Japanese people were. They were mobilised for war, and to hate. They had already started a revival of a very toxic anti Korean and anti Chinese stigma that still sticks today because Japan got off easy in the treaties. The Japanese government and the newer generations still even deny having Korean and Chinese “comfort girls”, the massacre Nanking and Unit 731. Which is worrying and chilling
The crimes by the Japanese army ? Oh boy , colonising a society and torturing the citizens is a part of a war and I’m sure that the Japanese weren’t the only ones to do so (I’m an Indian so I know what my ancestors went through for 150 years when India was under British rule

He never said sorry
@@helloitsme3252 sure no where in the video did he spefically apologize but he definitely showed that he was apologetic and personally i think that's more important
He did not show that he was apologetic. What he showed was empathy and understanding. You can both think something ought to have happened and think that it was sad and tragic. Nothing he said at all makes me think he was trying to be apologetic.
why would the US be sorry? Japan was asking for it
