I’m pretty sure the St Clair is pretty much gone. The last time I seen her there wasn’t much left. I’m not sure but I’m going by what I’ve seen in videos. It’s so sad to see any of them ending up here in these yards. At least they will live on in videos. 😢
That's an interesting observation. It does look nice; I wonder what the functional reason was for integrating the mast with the funnel this way? Was it for looks or for some savings or operational benefit?
@@RightInNiagara I think it may have been used for the on shore unloaders. Most of th canadian side steamers had this design. (Paterson, ULS, Papachristidis,)Papachristidis Most of the straight deckers coming out of Davie shipyard had that design
Extremely disappointed to see this. She used to be the Kinsman Independent… my grandfather’s final ship before retiring as a first mate of 3+ decades. Was hoping to take a job on her or at least a ride… now it’ll never happen.
I just seen the pilot house on a barge going north on the St. Clair River in Michigan.
Poignant production.
A wheelhouse for your garden, that looks fantastic.
They have quite a collection of old pilothouses there; they're all over the place! Would be nice to know what will become of them?
Heartbreaking!
I would actually love ot go abord the Crapo and the Manistee just to see the stuff that has been sitting frozen in time.
Has algoma enterprise and st clair been fully scrapped now?

@@TOTALCAMARO Yeah I agree with you on that one and I have plenty of videos of some of these ships
Will all the whistles and horns be collected or scrapped ?
I think the Crapo’s horns have been removed.
What is it called then the funnel also has the mast on it? I love the look and the Ojibway was the last ship with this design

It tends to be referred to as a "mack", a portmanteau of "smokestack" and "mast", but I never much liked the term.
Wonder why they stop on the one ship
