I appreciate it. It took me a few tries before everything I know started clicking in my head. I just hope to help someone else get it as well. Thanks again.
One at a time of course! 🤣. Seriously, one at a time. They could both be the same type (heat pump, a/c only, etc) or they could be different. I have seen plenty of 2 story houses that have a gas-ac package unit downstairs and a split gas-ac upstairs. That is the same type of wiring essentially. Typically you have the same type on one structure but it isn't necessary. Identify what kind of system each is and wire it to its thermostat.
@@johnjennings-JJ I meant that I have 1 furnace, but have 2 HVAC units with a thermostat for each. Do they both connect to same furnace? The main level thermostat has the usual 4 wires plus a B wire (although no heat pump), and the second level has just the 4 wires (R, G, W, Y). Thank you very much.
I am not sure about them both connecting to one furnace, that is more like a commercial-type setup. I wouldn't think that you would have a furnace/ac system for the main level and then a separate ac only system for the other part of the house. Would need model numbers for everything to see what you have got. As far as wiring, it looks like you might have a digital thermostat that needs a 24 "common" wire for the downstairs, whichnis controlling a conventional furnace/ac system, and then an older non digital thermostat (or at least a battery powered one) upstairs controlling a conventional furnace/ac system.
Everytime I watch your videos I understand everything clearly. 2nd year apprentice. Thanks. Keep making these.

Good basic video. Liked the way you stripped the thermostat wire. Thanks
Thanks. Some things I am OCD with...but I try not to show it.
Good learning videos and a great instructor. Thanks John.
Thanks.
Best guy !!!!!!for hvac thank you 🙏
Too kind. Thank you!
What if you have 2 thermostats and 2 HVAC units? how do you wire them?
