Hey dolls! In todays video I will be taking you guys through the steps on how I cut my own front framing layers. If you guys are interesting in seeing how I do this at home then go ahead and keep watching xox
Who else is here for COVID-19 haircuts
lol I am desperate wish us all good luck on our haircuts!
Lmfao omg me!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
😂
@@maryparedes5909 on the brightside, if we all mess up haha, at least our hair stylists will still have a job. Imagine all the color corrections they will have to do!
me too lol
I’ve been cutting my own hair for 2 years now & this is the ONLY UA-cam video I use to refer to, thanks for being so clear and easy !
Lalida K you’re so welcome hun! Thanks for the constant support xo
This is honestly the best and easiest hair cutting tutorial I've watched.
Sarah Nemo true
Sarah Nemo Me too!! but i wish her hair was dry ):
totally agree !!!
“watch this video more than once !” Six minutes deep into my haircut.
LOL
hahahahahah
Love this tutorial. I don't get professional cuts any more. This is my go-to haircut tutorial and it always turns out just how I want; I save money and don't end up disappointed. Thank you!!
So I lied to my girl that i can cut hair.
I have about 15 min to study before she gets here.
Love her tho
How did it go lmao
Due to personal feelings i believe she looks cute ! Yet she wanted something completely different she wanted a fringe W/ short hair
Omg... me too!!!! But i told my sister i could😂😂😂 now i have 2 hours to learn!! Do u have any advice for me??
@@chicagochicken3676 What did you do to her hair?
@FelisMaría
So she wanted that sexy spy haircut
....sooo
you know you know what Dora looks like? She looks adorable
Tutorial starts at 2:04
haha, thank you for sharing as I tend to talk a lot
+Melissa Pereira aww.. but its nice 😊😊😊
Alyshia T ty
Melissa Pereira yes but ur beautiful and helpful
Melissa Pereira u might wanna add if ur hair is not pretty and thick like urs u might be careful going too deep into the hair
Thank you. I've watched tons of tutorials and they never gave me a decent result. I have little sight and don't get out much. My mom convinced me to get a haircut last year that was awful. I'm growing out bad uneven layers and this tutorial finally helped!! Thank you.
This was exactly what I needed. I’ve been cutting my own hair for years but never knew how to get layers cut in properly. I loved this video.
My gosh!! This is unrelated but sister.... you... are... stunning! Just ridiculously pretty and I am so envious lol
(very helpful video by the way and thank you for posting)
My thoughts exactly.
Thank you sweetness!! But don't be envious! You are gorgeous!
you too
Kajsab23 you too
Feel the same, just watching her and enjoy in voice, face, hair.. like pure ASMR 😍
The Rona has me re-evaluating my hair choices.
panajane lmfaooo me 😭💀
@@rosegarcia9540 I already cut my own hair.
panajane how did it turn out ?!
@@rosegarcia9540 took me a few days of trimming to get it "right". Hair cutting your own hair is no joke 😅😅
panajane Well that’s good, and I know I used to always cut my own hair because hair stylists always cut way more than I ask but this Rona got me wanting to just give myself a trim lmao
I did this and I love it sooo much. I actually thought I messed up but I didn't. My hair feels so light, especially at the front. Thank you so much for this tutorial, Melissa.
Yay!! Makes my day to get these comments with happy results!! xoxo
Maybe my hairdresser can learn something from this 😞
Ella Havia Is
Ikr. I’ve gone to salons and they refuse to cut my hair like that.
Marion Carr yeah same!! I dont know why! But i just tried it and im sooo happy
I stopped going altogether. I might as well just give the scissors to my kid and say "have at it."
@@marioncarr149 omg same
I like how you are actually showing the cutting in a logical way...and not those shortcuts that usually end up ruining hair !
This is the third haircutting video I’ve seen today and it is by far the most detailed. I especially love her showing how she does the layers on the top portion of the head. Very helpful! Thanks!
I JUST DID THIS TO MY HAIR AND IT LOOKS GREAT THANK YOU FOR BEING SO HELPFUL
I wish every person who made a tutorial had this relaxing of a voice. Also this vid was hella helpful, thank you!
Out of the hundreds of self-haircutting videos on UA-cam you're only like 1 of 3 that I actually feel secure in following because it turned out so pretty/professional looking lol. Question though why didn't you use thinning shears/what difference would it make if you used them (would you recommend holding/cutting it differently from what you did in the video)? Thanks Melissa! :)
Thank you for spending the time to do this video. The way you demonstrated and explained the video actually allowed me to correctly cut my hair and get the results I have been looking for. This technique was one of the easiest that I have run across, and I know with further practice I will be able to perfect my cut and finally be free of having to pay someone else to cut my hair. Much love and thank again
Mine turned out great!! With the hairdresser out of town I finally took the plunge, and had success thanks to you!
Gonna go wash my hair and then try this out! x
Thank you so much for this tutorial!
I have layered straight hair, side swept bangs, and I have moved and not found a hairstylist to cut my hair yet. I was dreading trimming my side swept bangs and wanted to find a good tutorial for it, and yours is just perfect. You show and explain everything so nicely, that I was able to have the confidence to go for it.
I had found a bunch of tutorials for side swept bangs but they were all meant to keep the bangs on the same side, and I like switching it up and let it get longer at times.
I have been able to achieve great results both times I watched your tutorial and went for it. I don't do the whole process, only the first part, cause my hair a little bellow shoulder length and I'd never risk messing it up, so I just do the front part respecting the original bangs my hairstylist had cut.
I can't thank you enough for this. Best tutorial ever! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Thank you! That was the best tutorial on how to blend the front layers (simply) that I've ever seen. I wish I could find one on how to add one or two more long blended layers in the back using a similar technique.
Thank you thank you thank you! I went to the hair dresser and she did a pigeon job (pooped on my head) and I came home and watched your video and I FIXED IT!!! Looving it. God bless you gorgeous
I just did this and it worked great! My hair feels lighter and I love having some pieces to leave down with buns and stuff. Pretty easy too!
I cut my hair a couple times a year is all, and I always go back to this video bc it works every time, looks great, and is super light. Thanks!!
Every time I asked for this hair cut no one would do it because they want to take length off rather than. Sharper slant to meet the end. Not very intelligent. I’ll take this video to the salon next time or do it myself.
Theresa Brewer that’s often because some stylists avoid bending the rules or can’t see past the basics. Long over directed layers is the best way to explain it....most stylists just don’t know how to or are intimidated to bend these rules.
Soooooo, did you show the video and did it work ? :D
Best way i explain is the U shape.
DUDE THANK YOU
Hi Melissa, I cut my hair with you and blow it now. You said there was no way to have perfect cut, I accepted that. I was ready to go hair dresser after. However I have a very stilish hair now. It came out perfect! Thank you very much! And for those who will try; trick is parting your hair.
thats so amazing to hear!! thank you for taking the time to let me know it went well! xo
I love her voice she should voice over everything. Also, her hair came out awesome!
Thank you love xo
I middle of the night (insomnia mixed with a 2 day migraine) decided I had to have long layers in the front, because I have a military ball to go to on Saturday (I realize not one of the things I just said means it was a smart idea to cut my own hair.....) and I want the front of my updo to have a little more softness. I followed this video, and it looks so good! Not too much, not too little, and blended perfectly! Thank you so much, the sharp angle and over directing the hair made a huge difference. My best advice would be to cut longer than you think you want. I decided I could always go shorter, so I thought I was cutting 2-3” below where I thought I wanted, and then once the hair wasn’t under tension anymore, it was actually exactly what I wanted. If I had tried to go shorter from the beginning, it would have been too short.
My hairstylist always disappoints when it comes to layering the front so I tried doing this last night, it worked! I was afraid to cut as much as your instructions but now I know I can do it, thank you so much!
will try this later today because hair salons always ruin my hair. hopefully this will fix my boring long hair :) you did such a great job and this video was so helpful thank you so much
thank you and you're welcome! Hope it went well ;)
it went sooo well! love my new layers :)
This comment is 4 years old and I hope you're doing well because I always have the same bad experiences with hairdressers! I tried at least 20 hairdressers and I'm just done with them. They always want to cut more hair than they should and put me under pressure. Now I'll do it on my own
Still using this method today. Fabulous. Thanks so much for sharing. I’ve tried different methods and keep coming back to your tutorial.
Melissa thank you so much! I have long hair that I just put into a messy bun. But, now I can just cut the front and style it nice instead of just long, boring, blah.
I have been using your video to cut me framing layers since 2017, always happier with doing it myself because the salons dont always get it the way i want, either make it too thin or too deep and then my face looks square, or too choppy. This is just perfect for me. I do this even after getting a fresh hair cut and it works really well.
Her voice is like a sweet charm
I've been so afraid to go and get my hair done again because countless times the hairstylists just doesn't do the job I wanted. I've ended up leaving with many inches off my hair then I asked as well. And I haven't cut my own hair since high school. I've looked and looked for ways to cut my hair the way I want it. I found your video thank lord! And I just got done cutting my hair its amazing! Almost all my dead ends are off and I didn't lose my length what so ever! Thank you so much for sharing this video with everyone!
I did this....and it came out perfect!!!!😍😍💯💮...Thankyou so much!
so happy to hear that!!!! xo
Yes I am back again for a review! Going to be cutting my hair using this video for the fourth time now. Bless you! My hair is the one thing I can control lol
Your voice is so calming ^-^ by the way I wanted to ask why did she split her hair through the middle if they're side swept in just asking because I wanna try it out and not mess up not judging or trying to sound rude c: I wish you a wonderful day too
Loren Zhang so that both sides are even
Boring Boring-ness I tried this a month ago and it was good but last week I chopped my hair off so I don't need to worry anymore
Loren Zhang oh i hope you're happy with the look ;)
exactly! thank you for answering her for me ;)
Melissa Pereira If I have a deep side part will this work?
I watched this video a couple of times and then just went for it. It worked like a charm! My hair was unreasonably long so I ended up cutting off 5-6 inches in the back and 3-5 inches in the front. My hair has so many layers now and has great movement. The shape and length is exactly how I wanted it at it looks fantastic just air drying with some argon oil and tousling mouse for a nice beach wavy look. I keep getting compliments on how it came out and people can’t believe that I just cut it myself. My hair is still really long but it looks so much better now. Thank you for such a great tutorial! ❤️❤️❤️
Yes that’s what i love to hear!! It works best with really long hair. I’m so happy for you! Xoxox
Love this hair tutorial, so helpful. Thank you so much x
Thank you! I'm so happy you liked it!
ciao Robert
Melissa Pereira Great job! I want to ask you how the back ends up falling? Does it fall straight across, in a deep V or ??? I really want to try your technique but I gotta know that part! Thanks for posting!
I used your tutorial a month ago and my hair came out fab. Seeing this again since it’s time for another trim. Thank you....you’re gorgeous and you do a great job. Yay 😁
!!!PRO TIP (from a non-professional)!!! Cutting your hair wet can cause split ends. But for those of us with thick, coarse and/or wavy hair, cutting dry is way too hard. Last time I followed this tutorial I saturated my dry hair with coconut oil and it was "wet" enough to cut and I could get a fine tooth comb through my hair, something I had never done ever. So far, no split ends at all! It does take two shampoos to get the coconut oil out, because you really do have to saturate your hair. I used almost a half cup in my tailbone-length hair.
Thanks again Melissa for the stellar tutorial.
great advice!
I don't understand how someone as beautiful as you hasn't got more attention. I'm going to try this today and hopefully it'll turn out as beautiful as yours. Thumbs up for you
Thank you! I would hope I get attention for more than my appearance but i will still take your kind words! Hope it went well! Let me know
i just used this to cut my hair and it looks fabulous! So much better than it did. Thanks for this. And by the way, I'm 52 years old, and I love my long hair, and men love long hair on women, just sayin. :D
woohooo!!! Yass girl!! I'm so happy it looks great xoxo
I am 51 and my husband loves my hair long, but it's THICK and I feel like a pony! I've used this tutorial twice to gets some of it away from my face. Also used Primal Palate tutorial on here to color my hair using Morrocco Method henna. Pro stylist always mess up my hair
Not ALL men love long hair on women. And, frankly, I cut my hair how I want it.. not how I think men will want to see it.
Megan, All the men that I like do! :D And I love my hair. It's soft and silky, probably my best feature.
yesiownfrodo well u go girl!!! love ur spirit!!!!
I spent $400 for a haircut and color thinking that it was going to be amazing it wasn't. After coming home and watching your video I cut my hair exactly the way you said so. It turned out really good. Cutting my own hair from now on. I've got really fine hair and this blended it really nicely without making the ends look thin. Thank you!!!!
Glad I could help!
Watching this because I want to get the most out of my Revlon one-step hairdryer 😄
Thank god for this. I don't really have money for a stylist right now. I was trying to grow out blunt bangs and they looked absolutely awful at their awkward length. Cutting them in this shape integrates them much better.
Would have liked to see how it looked from the back.
Sorry, thats an excellent point!! I will be doing a how I blow dry/Style my hair so ill show a back view then
Used this hair tutorial years ago and im back again! Still have the same layers but longer. i just want to say to anyone who is planning to cut your own hair using this tutorial " its alot of work and you need to take your time but the end result is amazing! ☺
I've been cutting my own hair for over 30 years.
You've done the best video I've seen so far on how to layer your own hair!!
Beautiful ❣✂️😍
Thank you!!!! I truly appreciate the support xo
My hair is about medium length but I've been doing smaller versions of cutting my own hair for years so I'm going to try this tonight. Also, my hair stylist is up the street and will take me as a walk in if I blow it. Best tutorial I've seen for this so far!
Thanks for this video, by far the best and clearest instructions ever
+Lalida Kong Thank you hun!! Makes me feel little more comfortable with it haha I felt like I was getting a little hard to follow xox
I have never had a good stylist. I have learned a lot though during covid and I am cutting my own hair now even though I have screwed it up a few times. In Dec 2020 a stylist stacked my hair when all I wanted was the last 2 inches layered and lightened up in weight. Instead she chopped and stacked my hair. The shorted and longest layer was a foot apart and my hair was only at the top of my shoulders! I cried for months and here I am almost two years later and I am now almost out of having a "tail" at the end of my hair. My hair is only at the collar bone because I have had to keep trimming the bottom while the top layers catch up. It has been a nightmare. Now my face framing layers have a "hole" area from me messing them up but this video helped me to even it out some and now I just have to let it grow. Your video was very helpful. I need to find a video of yours for cutting the back as I do want a bit of layer in the back. I think your old one from 2016 has it. Thanks so much.
Me: cutting my own, shoulder length hair, while listening to this for the first time.....
You: definitely watch this a few times before trying this yourself, watch me rather than listen and dont try this on short hair 🙈😂🤣
Finally felt comfortable with cutting layers after watching this and it worked amazingly! I have waist long thick hair that was getting unruly and it needed something unmajor to shake it up a bit. Thankyou, this was a great easy to follow tutorial 😄
2019 best tutorial on your tube ever!
i just wanted to share, i watched this video yearssss ago and i absolutely loved my hair its the perfect technique just everything, for years in a row i was the only one cutting my own hair i wouldnt trust anyone. the beginning of 2020 i decided to go get my hair cut... ended up with the choppiest layers in my life and im still really struggling with it. it a process but regardless i want to thank you for this video💗
This makes me so happy!!! Thank you for sharing
U did an amazing job but I can't seem to get the hang of it lol but your haircut is exactly what I want!!
I have watched so many videos trying to find an easy explanatory video that was accurate to what I wanted my hair to look like... Finally came across the perfect one, this video! Thank you
She reminds me of an imvu character
I was trying to explain to my hair girl that this is what I wanted and I couldn’t! 😂 ive cut my own hair before so I’m not really nervous about this but I’m soooo happy to see someone do it so I can also cut mine. My hair is as long as my hips now and I NEED volume so thank you!! 💖
Man oh man, i just cut my hair and i'm so proud of myself.
Best haircut video. Second time I have come back to this video give u the perfect little layers at the bottom! Thank u!!!♥️♥️ stay safe everyone
Omg 😩 I'm so dumb!!!!! So I had a long bob but I'm way overdue for a haircut and was like hmmmmm I'm gonna cut my hair 😂😂😂 found this video and thought hey this is easy omg I totally messed up my hair 😂😂😂😂
Me too, damn...I had such long hair and I messed this up big time
So did I!! Don’t know what to do to fix it 😩
Same!! I just ruined my hair. Then I tried to fix it by cutting more off and it looks awful lol
omg I feel you I just cant do it myself she makes it look so easy.
Now I’m scared to try this tutorial
Thank you so much for this video! I watched it once, and then again - and cut as i followed along. You gave clear instructions, and my hair came out great!
End result shows how well it was done. Lovely layers. Thank you :)
your voice is so soothing
Am sitting here smiling.... I just copied your video and I look great! Had a long bob, till 15 minutes ago straight till over the shoulder/ collar bone. I cut the center just under my chin, first checked if that length would fit behind my ear, to both sides it does. Then started snipping.... then blow dry... now smiling! Seriously people are going to ask if I went to the salon. Thanx for posting this, you made my day!
love love love to hear comments like these. Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know how it went xo
I can barely wait to try this
Just tried this tonight, I have very fine hair, but a LOT OF IT so took me a bit longer but very happy with the result. Thank you for sharing 💚💚
Thank you for sharing ... I will definitely do it. I searched for a good detailed video but didn’t find anything I liked or comfortable with because my hair is long it’s below my hips . Then I found your video and I love it. I have a hard time finding a good hair dresser because every hair dresser I go to , they get scissor happy and chop it of ... thankfully my hair grows really fast. Anyway, thank you for sharing 🙂definitely going with this video ...
I gotta tell you: I think you are so pretty! Also want to let you know I have not been one who can sit through and listen to other videos explaining this same thing...the people talked on and on. Whereas with your video I found everything prior to the tutorial before 2:04 beneficial to listen to so I had no problem watching this from beginning to end. All of the info from start to finish was relevant and have watched it more than once as you encouraged and I'm glad I I'm taking your advice before I do anything more to my hair.
I definitely think you explained it so well and I could tell you were being your natural authentic self and thats definitely a plus. Thank you for the video. It was very helpful.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts! I’ve had many comments of people wanting to skip ahead. To hear that what I’ve shared is helpful means so much to me. Thank you so much again, and god luck if you attempt it your self. Lots of love!! ❤️
My hands were trembling when I was doing this yesterday
BEST tutorial!!! I cut my hair a week ago and royally messed it up, this fixed it :)
How does the cut look from the back? is it a sharp "V"?
Had to comment that you have a very soothing and calm voice. And I just subscribed, so I'm looking forward to seeing your other videos. Btw you have GORGEOUS hair!!! I have wavy/curly/dry/frizzy hair. One of the few benefits to that is if your layers are off a little, it's hard to see it.
You're SO perfect. WHO looked perfect in 2016? Impossible
Just did this following instructions and my hair turned out awesome! saved some money and look great! Thank you so much!
Yes! Thats what I like to hear!!
This is clear and concise. Thank you so much- just a lovely tutorial.
Has anyone tried this on short/medium length hair? My hair is about shoulder length and I do my part very far to the side.. I was hoping to achieve the Debby Harry volumized hair flip look with this
I've had the same exact hairstyle since I was 10.
I'm almost 20, and now i have this urge to cut some cute bangs/tendrils myself because everyone i see looks hella cute with them and I'm jealous!
so i accidently cut my angles too short but i still look stunning. thankyou from all single mums who don't have anybody to watch their kids whilst they get their hair cut...
Amen!! and that's ok, it'll last longer before the next trim! xo
Thank you so much for this vid! I just tried my own DIY layers cut for the first time and your vid saved my entire look! Thank you soo soo much!
Your hair looks so healthy, what products do you use to keep it looking shiny and smooth?
Thank you! I actually have video call all about my hair. That should give you some info on what i use. I may do an update as its been a little while but honestly, less styling with hot tools, and my Dove Intense Repair shampoo and conditioner
This is the best haircut tutorial I have ever seen. I just could have done without the ‘kinda’. Be confident! You clearly know what you’re doing.
In love with your hair 😍
gennynhazel7 thank you!
Several months ago, I had a stylist screw up my hair so bad I've been afraid to go back to a salon. I've never cut my own hair before so I was scared to death to do this but I did it anyway. It turned out exactly how I wanted it! It was fairly easy too. Why do stylists have a hard time with this? Anyway, THANK YOU!
I came for the hair tutorial ,but your face it's so pretty 💕
Here for Covid cut plus since moving in ‘93 yes almost 30 years ago I had THE best hair cutter, stylist that has ever walked this planet. Everyone else has been an expensive letdown. Oooo especially going to Paul Mitchell school, I brought a picture (several actually) of what I wanted. After spending what seemed like 4 hours there, the timid little thing said “there” and I held up the pics saying does this in anyway resemble any of these pics? NO. Her teacher comes up to me saying “at least it’ll grow back”. Oy!
You explained it really well ! And your hair looks amazing!
Also, weird ? but what kind of bra is that? Looks like a sports bra of some sort but I like the thin normal straps..I'm on a quest to find a comfy supportive bra to work in that isn't too sporty and uni-boob-ish.
Great video, thanks for sharing your info :)
The brand of the bra is called "real" I purchased it at winners/marshalls.
Loved it and from this tutorial I did cut my mom's side bangs..thank you
worked great! thank you I needed a refresh!
Thank you I've been looking through tutorial,s for hours trying how to cut my long her into long layers myself and this is just perfect for my hair as it is similar to yours maybe a bit longer but I love how you did this and my hair turned out perfect better than if I went the Salon ,so thank god I found you 😘 xx
first
thought;
wow, you're really beautiful
Very helpful. This will be the first time cutting my hair. I just don't have time to get it done (got kids). I'm tired of how long and thick it is, it's past my hips. I get layers to make it look thinner and its easier to maintain. If anything it definitely needs a good trim (takes stylists over an hour just to trim, might as well do it myself). But honestly, I'm to the point of chopping it all off.. 😄 Thank you
Thank you for this video. I actually used it to cut long bangs this morning before Thanksgiving. They look fantastic!
im absolutely loving it .great job! do you have also layers on your hair on the back?
Thank you! I do have layers throughout also yes... and when I trim them I want to try and capture that on camera also so stay tuned ;)
+Melissa Pereira thank you so much for your answer. i would love to see a tutorial on it . big hug and keep your great work on !
Love this video. You explain everything perfectly, without overcomplicating the task at hand. Also, you have such a lovely & calming voice...lol. Thanks :)
Your voice ahh, my eyes were slowly closing 😂 love your tutorial though!
