The VP lives at the naval observatory which is about 6 miles from the white house. It's actually a really nice location and looks more like it's out in the country than on the city like the white house.

The Household staff are permanent. Eleanor Roosevelt often told about arriving at the White House after her husband's Inauguration. The Head Usher who opened the door for them greeted her as "Miss Eleanor". She was pleased because that was how he had always greeted her years earlier. He had been an usher when her Uncle Theodore Roosevelt was President. "Ike" Hoover was employed at the White House for 42 years, 29 as Head Usher [a record that is still unequaled].

The Vice President of the United States lives at Number One Observatory Circle, a historic home located on the grounds of the U.S. Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C.
    Key Facts:
Location: The address is 3450 Massachusetts Avenue NW, about 2.5 miles from the White House.
History: Built in 1893, the house was originally intended for the superintendent of the Naval Observatory.
Official Residence: It has been the official residence for vice presidents since 1974, starting with Vice President Walter Mondale.
Security and Amenities: The home has undergone various updates and includes secure communication systems and living spaces for the vice president and their family.
The house provides a private and secure residence, unlike the White House, which is both a residence and a highly public workspace.

Melania Trump was not thrilled with the White House. After all she is used to Mar-A-Lago which is over 3 times larger, oceanfront, and on 126 acres. Mar-A-Lago is closer to a French King's palace than even Buckingham Palace so the conservative White House is not quite as showy and elegant.

    • @nochannel1q2321
      @nochannel1q2321 11 днів тому +3

It's also really, really tacky. The White House decor is kind of maintained at a certain level of dignity, so when Trump inevitably tries to decorate it with all the tastefulness of a casino the moderating parts of the system will limit how much of an eyesore it's allowed to be during his time in office.

Odd that they showed the Lincoln bedroom and he said that it's the same bed that Lincoln passed away on, yet in the picture they showed of Lincoln in the bed on that fateful day, it's definitely a different bed in that picture than the one they just showed in the video.
There is no law that says the President has to live at the White House. He is the President. They accommodate him. But since the White House has been there every President has lived in it. It sort of comes with the job. There was speculation that Melania Trump wasn't going to live in the White House during Trump's first term because Barron Trump was still in school and she didn't want him to have to uproot him from everything he knew. So she lived between both homes until Barron was out of school then she moved to the White House.

The president has to pay for all their food. They are also responsible for any parties & stuff like that.
Bush W., prior to 9/11, spent weeks at a time on his ranch in Texas. I believe he spent almost as much time in Texas as he did in the White House for the first 8 months of his presidency. After 9/11, he still went to his ranch but not as frequent.
Joe Biden spent around 400 days out of the White House, which is a lot in a 4 year term.
When Biden was Vice President, he would swim in the nude.
As First Lady, Hillary Clinton got in trouble for taking China dishes from the White House.
The Obama’s donated the swing set but first offered it to Barron Trump (he was 10 at that time.) Barack Obama converted the tennis court into a basketball court.

When President Trump was first elected, Melania didn’t move into the White House right away. She didn’t want to disrupt Barron’s schooling, so if I’m not mistaken, her and Barron moved in at the end of his school year. They lived in NYC until the school year ended. Now Barron is in college in New York and she has said she will spend time at Trump Towers to be close to Barron and at Mar-a-Lago. I don’t think she really likes DC (can’t blame her) or the White House. I just hope they clean the WH really well! 😬. It’s going to be so nice waking up tomorrow knowing President Trump is taking care of business! Great reaction, y’all!!
