I made this today, and it's delicious!! I really like tea, but it always seemed so bland because it was steeped in water. Seasoning the water and adding (vegan) milk really helps😊
I very much appreciate recipe videos that are straight to the point. Less confusion, less "hanging out", more informative. Great job and can't wait to try your recipe.
Thank you, glad you noticed.
If you have any friends who are Indian, most do not use water they only use milk and they crush their spices rather than use ground spices because the ground spices float around in the drink where as the whole crushed enfuse the milk much better and they are easier to strain out of the drink. Typical spices used are cardamom pods, whole cloves, cinnamon stick, pepper corns and a piece of fresh ginger which you crush with a mortar and pestle. Whole milk is best to use because it makes the drink creamy. Put all the spices in the milk and heat on the stove until boiling point add 1.5t per cup of tea (Red Label is usually the tea used in an Indian household) and sugar into the milk and simmer until the tea is infused and the sugar is dissolved. Strain into a cup or cups and enjoy.
Thank you for this!
Yess! But we also do half milk + half water, that way the tea isn't too heavy/rich. So we just add water and milk to a pot and then add the spices and loose tea, cook on low for 10-15 minutes. It's also not necessary to use all these spices, I personally only like cardamom so I only add a crushed cardamom pod.
We do half water half milk.
People looking up this video are looking for a typical American coffee house chai latte. It’s a markedly different thing from masala chai, which is what you described. Also, you’re wrong on chai using only milk. Bringing the tea powder and sugar/jaggery to a boil in a quarter cup of water along with freshly ground spices is a typical way of making chai. You can even go half/half. Chai is chai. Let’s not be pretentious about it.
But we indians use water in our chai so basically if u r making 2 cups of chai it's 1 cup water 1 cup milk otherwise it would be too milky
I made this and it is really delicious. Some people are complaining that it’s not easy. It’s about 2 minutes of active work total. It’s boiling water. Literally the easiest thing you can do. Once you have the chai syrup, you can even add it to milk and microwave it if you don’t care for a frothy top. You can also make larger batches of the syrup so you have enough to last a while, and it’s so easy to add some syrup to some milk and microwave it until a it hot.
Thank Ben, appreciate your comment.
I wouldnt really consider this an easy way to make tea
This isn't basic tea though is it
Is this really above your skill set?
Anyone fancy a cup of tea? Great, come back in two weeks
thats because that how u make real chai
JokerfaceXIII this isn’t tea
What a great recipe. I made this today and I’m quite impressed with the flavor and how simple it was to make. I like my chai a bit spicy so next time I’ll add a few peppercorns to the boil. Thanks for sharing.
This is gorgeous. I used agave instead of maple.
I only added 2 tsp of agave to the milk and that was plenty sweet enough for me. Thanks for the recipe xx
or you can get chai tea powder or spiced black tea and add milk
Could you also just use chai tea bags?
OMG!!! You are God sent. I will never have to overpay for Chai Latte again. Thanks so much!!!
here’s how to make REAL chai, from an indian. it’s even simpler:
(for 2 servings)
bring a cup (not the measurement kind of cup, the cup/mug you’ll drink the chai out of) of water to a boil, then put two teaspoons of chai patti (tea leaves) and let it boil for another two minutes or so. it doesn’t have to be a vigourous boil. then add a little less than a cup of milk (or less of you prefer it darker) to the water. let it continue to boil until it starts to rise and turn the heat to the lowest setting before it overflows out of the pot. keep it on the lowest heat setting for another minute or two, adding the desired amount of sugar/honey/sweetener.
you’re welcome! it has enough milk traditionally to be considered a latte, in my opinion
Tysm for this recipe, is yummy!
I approve of this recipe. I do it slightly different but the method is same. Fellow Pakistani here
Oh goodness, this sounds and looks delicious. I haven't been satisfied lately with chai teabags, so I think I will definitely give your recipe a try. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Your welcome, thanks for watching
this works out pretty well. I used a chai tea bag and to save time to just boiled some almond milk into boiled water with ginger, cinammon, all spice and organic syrup. TY
Thanks for sharing!
Mapple syrup... in a masala chai???
It’s Canadian masala chai!!!
Thank you for sharing, I used chinese green tea, cinnamon, ginger, sugar, 1% milk and blended together, it worked great too
Great tip!
All the indians watching this are screaming internally like I am.
I know right
This is soooo bad
😆😆 she probably got it from an Indian too.
I’m sitting here wondering where the hell she pulled maple syrup out of thin air from. 😂
No maple syrup. 🤪
What is the best recipe? I want to make authentic chai....difficult to find real recipe
That was easy, I do almost the same but with whole spices and loose tea grains. ☕️
We have another variation recipe on our new channel as well. I personally like honey as a sweetener, but raw sugar, melted into the hot tea infusion while steeping, is also great. Chai lattes are one of my favorite drinks of all time...especially iced chai latte! It's delicious with soy milk, but I also love almond milk...and a little topping of whipped cream is an extra indulgence!
Huh... turns out this is almost the exact recipe for Somali caano shaah (milk tea).
Untapped Happiness i was thinking the same thing when I made caano shah today
Just tried making it this morning, and ohhhh its sooo gooood!!!! ❤ It does take a bit of time but it's so worth it! Thankyou!!
Glad you love it Aimee!
I did a pumpkin Spice Chai Latte and it was delicious! 😌
This sounds exactly like what is served in coffee shops in the U.S. It might as well be from a teabag (some aren't that bad. Not good, but drinkable).
Try a true traditional chai for a really wonderful beverage. There are a few recipes on UA-cam if traveling to Pakistan is out of the picture.
Last year I found out and fell for chai latte and this sounds so nice, I would try!:-)
Just made it!!!! So delicious & easy! Cozy!!!!! Thank you
Put the chai tea leaves in a Moka pot the same way you make Italian coffee and just add steamed milk. Voila
You dont put syrup in chia tea. Thanks though.
If it tastes good, what’s the harm? Starbucks uses syrups in their teas
You can do what ever tf you want
If you are diabetic, it’s simply a replacement for sugar.
this looks awesome! if we don't have an immersion blender, are we kinda screwed?
Best recipe I've seen so far,I will give it a try !
Such lack of exposure
Take a look at the comments… Thumbs up if you think people take all this tea talk wayyyyy too seriously
lol, best comment ever!
Looks great! Thanks for sharing.
A woman with that type of skill and knowledge deserves a ring like lebron
Thank you for making this!!
I love this recipe!! It’s delicious!
If I dont have cardoman will it still be great?
Have to try it
Chai Tea is a redundant name. It basically means Tea Tea. As Chai is what Tea is called in India.
No you're wrong. Chai in English refers to the specific kind of tea, not tea in general. Therefore, saying Chai Tea is completely valid. It's just like saying the Sahara Desert or Timor Leste.
So tasty!!! Thanks for the recipe
Perfect for Thai chi
For black tea does earl grey count
Can I substitute the maple with less carbs and sugar (keto style) if what do you suggest
Thank you 😊
Tastes Amazing!
Could we use milk instead of water?
Tea tea
As a Pakistani, I am intrigued by this version of chai tea. Very different
It’s just chai chai is tea so your saying tea tea or chai chai so stop saying chai tea
@@whitehole9726 yeah exactly. I think it’s weird that people call it teax2
@@minmoni2452 Chai doesn't mean tea in English. Chai refers to this specific kind of tea. That's why.
Whatever the name, thank you for the video.
This huge quantity of spices is adequate for 50 cups.
Looks delicious!
Loose tea leaves add more flavour 👍
Am I the only one that appreciated the tutorial and wasn't offended and triggered by some irrelevant &$%# ?! 😍🤷🏽♀️ thank you ☕️
ha, love it. you are not alone. UA-cam is the place for negative comments.
Nope, you are not. Just remember, there are billions of people on this planet, so it's almost impossible to be "the only one". :-P
Hey Leah. I was just offended by your reply. Therefore, I challenge you to a Kung Fu match. Live Simply can be the ref.
what does &$%# ?! mean?
I totally agree with you. Gratitude is an attitude which few people care to employ these days. Namaste!
Thats just chai (the indian tea). Ceylon Cinnamon makes everything better. Thanks for the Vid.
arabs also call tea chai. although our tea is just normal black tea which portuguese merchants took back with them to europe in lebanon :)!
@@jockegiirl8605 the word and the recipe for chai originated in india tho :)
This is the bomb yo.
Thanks!
Why do use ground spices vs whole spices? I’ve seen other recipes for chai with whole spices.
Ruth Salinas fresh, crushed spices
YUMMY
i made it and the flavor wasn't very strong it tasted very much like water down tea or sometjing what should i do? add more spices ?
Nellie Pluss Change the tea. Teas in the West tend to be pretty mild. Try getting hold of Indian / Pakistani / srilankan tea bags.
literally all you have to do is boil the tea in the water and pour some milk in their, boil that shit, and you are done.
You make it sound so easy lol!! thanks for commenting
@@LiveSimply I seen lighter chai then this and I bet it’s way better then this chai
this is the only way that I ever make chai tea
chai tea? chai MEANS tea sis, you're saying TEA TEA; would i ask you for a coffee cofffe with a room for cream cream
Ma'am it's only chai, what is chai latte?
Honey chai means tea there's nothing like chai tea its like you're saying coffee coffee latte
Can’t you steep the tea in a kettle, pour it into a cup, add the spices, and then add the milk??
Wouldn’t that be one hundred times easier?????
waw...love tea......ur making is assume
Chai Tea translates to “Tea tea”
Okay but in English Chai doesn't mean tea
that's A LOT of cinnamon....
Once she said "store for two weeks", I was just like😮😧
The only ingredient i have right no2 is water
Traditionally masala chai is brewed directly in a milk+water mixture, presumably because the essential oils in the spices are fat-soluble. This will make the mixture less strong, plus it's going to be diluted later with the milk. If you're going for a Starbucks style mild "chai latte" how are all these steps superior to just buying a Tazo concentrate and mixing the way they do?
I loove Chai tea
Yes, me too!
thank you for this. Now, I don't have to spend money on Starbucks.
Maple syrup?
4 steps in and im like "fk it, ill just pay the $5 to Starbucks"
Lol
Starbucks and Dutch bros give you a 5 dollar cup of milk
Its just *_CHAI_*
maple syrup? really. the sugar maple treas best known for being the primary source of maple syrup does not have any habitat in the middle east.
(eastern Canada, from Nova Scotia west through southern Quebec, central and southern Ontario to southeastern Manitoba around Lake of the Woods, and northcentral and northeastern United States, from Minnesota eastward to Maine and southward to northern Virginia, Tennessee and Missouri. (if anyone cares)
I very much appreciate recipe videos & am already using this for a while now along with using Green Tea of Planet Ayurveda & it's help me a lot to improve the stamina .
chai means tea.. calling chai tea =tea tea
She said chai properly I'll give her that
But god what was she mixing in the couldron.
🧡🧡🧡🧡
So it's a Tea tea latte 😂
Chai means TEA
Chai tea is from India and I didn't realize there was maple syrup there. I guess that's why this recipe is called a chai latte and not chai. I'll keep looking for a more authentic version.
I get why ot cost 6 dollars now
Chai means tea. Chai Tea latte. Tea tea latte
Why is this called chai tea latte? You used black tea?
Latte means a coffee espresso this is a tea she is making she shouldn't call it a latte
Thanks Barbara
👍🏼💕
It's just Chai. Not Chai 'latte', thats what Starbucks and other coffeeshops likes to call it
It's a latte when milk is added.
M Magick it is chai. Chai comes with milk in most south Asian cultures.
Did you know that chai literally means tea.
Thanks
Yikes.. 2 weeks??? I had to go...
This is such a difficult way to do it, my god.
lol
Indian's... Chill. Our Desi Chinese and Aloo Tikki Burgers are worse.
That awful sound on the background is way toooo loud! Why have a sound in the background that is so stupid!
Indians and Muslims where are you guys !! How can we see This anyay happening on our chai
You speak to fast , you didn’t write the ingredients in the toolbox
Me being an Indian and a chai lover can't take this shit.
use real whole spices-- 10 times better!
It's called chai latte not chai tea cuz u r then just saying tea tea
so does Starbucks, lol
@@LiveSimply yea thats cultural appropriation
I dont wanna learn that sht
“Chai tea” is redundant
Its called " masala tea"
Thanks Soni
For English speakers (and maybe others), it's called chai tea, because chai, while meaning simply tea in other languages, is our way of saying "spiced". Things have different names in different places.
EnglishatHeart well... Its Indian... So she's right...
Rather use the original word
Chai Tea Latte translates to “Tea Tea Coffee”
No
Not rocket science
My g I'm laughing at the fact that a white lady is telling me how to make a drink so close to my heart and that with every muscle in my system I have mastered SMH I blame Starbucks for this, putting a god damn CHaI tEa LaTte on their menu 😢 ps.i make a bomb chai just for all those who are wondering
You are totally right about Starbucks, that's how most people find my recipe because that's what they think it is.
@@LiveSimply it's just the way Starbucks and people like u on UA-cam channels make are not like the way that it's supposed to be made and the ways that u and co. Make the drink is not the traditional way of making it.
