New to your channel and an old style country guitar player/singer for over 30+ years. You hit the nail right on the head with each of these 5 reasons. All 5 sounded like me when i first started out!
I found that confidence comes with experience and experience comes with being in the pocket and the vibe and those amazing 'in the zone' feelings when your on a gig that seem to happen like the heavens opened up at that moment and it felt like you wanted to ride those notes all night and never stop! When every part of the band just 'clicked' and the audience felt it. I love those moments!
Other gigs, however, same songs, same talent, but it felt like 'hole' somewhere that you couldnt put your finger on.
I'm going to subscribe to your channel as i think you have some great insight and for me, not matter how much experience i 'think' i have, you can always learn more!
Got much of my tips and tricks from fellow musicians on the road and was always ready to listen to anything they had to show me.

Great video, straight to the point and informative. I also respect that you saved the lesson plug for the end where it made total sense and flowed nicely from the video topic. This is the type of content that gives instant value to the viewer and that I personally enjoy. Cheers Justin 🤘

New to your channel. About to play my first gig ever with a local songwriter…I’ve had to adapt, listen, and learn 17 of his songs. I feel like I lucked into doing the things you recommend! Thank You and I look forward to more of your videos!

This is sound advice, Justin. I'm still working on all of these five points. One thing I've never regretted doing is over-preparing for a gig. I write out my numbers by hand in my personal practice time at home and it's been big part of helping me to "internalize" songs. Also for songs I don't play as frequently, it makes for a quick refresher ahead of a rehearsal to run through these same notes again. I try to recording everything too especially the live rehearsals in the final keys we're to do the songs in, that has been super helpful to use for that last round of personal practice time to really lock it in. I need all the help I can get.

Very good info Justin and interesting too! I know they all can apply to me even as a Sunday church player, adapting (not playing blues riffs on a country styled contemporary gospel song!) and I've been working on getting into the pocket when playing both guitar or bass, contributing to the song as a whole. Hope your gigs went well, peace brother.
