- Before delving into Balti cuisine in Turtuk, India's last outpost in the North, we were drawn to Turtuk Holiday Resort's global culinary offerings. Our day commenced with an English breakfast at The Farmhouse Cafe, featuring coffee, smoothies, hash browns, French toast, and cheesecake. The serene outdoor ambiance enhanced our enjoyment of the meal.
At lunch, we indulged in Italian classics like lasagna, spaghetti aglio e olio and pizza. Joined by Rashidullah, the man behind it all, we gained insight into his journey and the resort's story.
As the day concluded with a Japanese dinner menu, boasting delicate rolls of maki, katsu curry, and teppan chicken, we were left in awe. The impeccable execution of each dish was a testament to the boundless creativity and passion of Rashidullah and his team.
The dedication to providing world cuisine in such a remote location, where the nearest marketplace is over 200 km away, speaks volumes about the commitment to offering a truly exceptional experience. It also demonstrates a desire to transcend geographical boundaries and provide guests with a diverse and enriching culinary journey. How interesting! This interview is unlike any so far. If people have awareness of Turtuk’s history, it is so stunning to see someone from the area of war-prone zone - choose to look at possibility of great future amidst the survival & bring such exquisite cuisine to the remotest area. Not just a culinary delight but also a tribute to the Balti tradition and cuisine.
