That's the sound of inevitably Mr Anderson. Free the freon

Few questions. Couldn't you just use a 120V fan that accepts it directly instead of fussing with a converter to step down the voltage? They're about twice the cost but it would save busting and soldering a phone charger as well. Couldn't use rubber adhesive strips on the glass panel? Sacrificing security in exchange of not puncturing a freon line.

Always love the videos mate. Tomorrow I will be doing the same as you did adding control to the front vent fan of the van. Maybe I'll post a video too! A little UA-cam Algorithm tip, Try not to upload two videos the same day. wait a couple days between uploads and for some reason the UA-cam algorithm likes that as you are "regular uploader".

Should definitely do a video on the blower fan!!
Good call on the videos as well, need to get back into it and start doing regular (spaced apart) uploads again!

just use 3m tape. screws are risky and might cause insulation problems

Had you considered gluing the fan in place instead of screwing

I've always shied away from adhesives but with today's modern adhesives, I think it would be possible to make that work!
Would have certainly saved me some headache haha

@@VanwithTim I've had good luck with abrading the surface to give it tooth and using 3m weatherstrip adhesive. It's worth a try. Don't know how it will do in a fridge but it's been working outside for five years now

I just drilled a hole behind the top freezer compartment. Since I dont use the freezer I just left it in the freezer. Works great. Big question?? Why dont they make them with a fan already inside plus one blowing on the compressor ? I have one there to brought the compressor temp down from 123 to 97 degrees.

Is this really cool down lower part fridge??
    How much its effective?
My fridge very low cooling at lower portion,
But I will not drill i will fixed fan with aluminum Tap. 👍

So whats the reason for the fan

    • @zackisback7380
      @zackisback7380 5 місяців тому

It equalizes air. Full size fridges have a circulation fan this helps the hot spots stay as cold as the warm spots.

why not change the 12v DC fan in the freezer

    • @VanwithTim

Great question! These mini fridge / freezer units have the entire top, bottom, and sides of the freezer surrounded with a coil of refrigerant lines, so the cooling is very uniform in that compartment. But with the fridge, the only cooling comes from the back wall - it doesn't do a very good job uniformly cooling the refrigeration space.

Me thinking: and he's just gonna glue it now...I think a piece of plastic like a piece of cable channels would stick in there quite nicely. than you can drill in them. I would also have used a bigger and thinner fan.

🤣🤣 Snagged a thermal camera for the replacement fridge once this one finally died. (which didn't take long for very obvious reasons). Made it super simple to ID the line locations... But mostly I wanted to write off a thermal camera on my taxes.

So you pinch your fridge twice? At least this time you did not need to buy a new one.

100% prepared to buy a new unit if (when) this one bites the dust. Learned a lot from it though!

Grabbed a different fridge, a thermal camera, and repeated the procedure successfully. Ditched this one. $100 mistake.
