Fantastic, thank you for giving some much-needed attention to her work. I'm eager to see Jirel return to us by virtue of Molly Tanzer and New Edge Sword & Sorcery's recent succcessfully crowdfunding.

Here's to hoping there is a resurgence of interest in Jirel and of C. L. Moore's works in general.

This sounds quite interesting. The book covers remind me a bit of the Red Sonja character. Thanks for the video. Happy reading.

Excellent review of Jirel of Joiry PN! Moore seems to have gained traction of late on booktube.

Honestly, I still haven't finished my copy😅. But I've been liking it so far. Its definitely a bit on the weird and surrealistic side, but its been a nice change of pace from epic and high fantasy that has been my staple for the past twenty or so years. I don't think it'll end up being one of my favorites, but I'm still glad to have started reading it. I picked it up more because of the song based off it and my interest in reading more early fantasy, but supposedly Jirel was the first major fantasy heroine? More of an interesting side note to me than anything.
Another side note, King of Elfland's daughter is also the name of a filk song that may have been based off the book you mentioned. I think I'm going to try to pick up a copy soon

I'm glad you're finding some value in the Jirel stories. It's interesting you've discovered musical connections to both Jirel and The King of Elfland's Daughter.

@@PeculiarNotions I discovered filk (fictional folk) in high school, when I started reading Mercedes Lackey's books. She wrote a lot of filk in general, but especially for her books. I don't remember if she wrote the lyrics for Jirel of Jorey or The King of Elfland's Daughter, but I definitely found them because of her
