Dyneema Lazy Jacks, DIY!

- Finally got the Dyneema, (or is it Spectra?) to make my new Lazy Jacks. After measuring the temporary strings I had used to hold the sail pack I could then cut the Dyneema and splice some low friction rings as well as some loops. Also used some Ronstan sheavless shocks.
All in all the setup should be maintenance free and all the components are VERY smooth which shold help preventing wear on the sail.

Ha. It really takes me back to my childhood when my Dad and grandfather taught me how to splice (no fancy modern gifs though) rope to rope, rings from rope only and also splicing rope to wire ropes. All of course I haven’t used in more than 50 years. You’re getting me excited to regain those lost skills Teo. Muito obrigado mate.
Thanks for watching!! 😉😉
You have definitely made your boat alot better than what you originally bought
Thanks 👍
Nice job Teo. You keep things simple and practical, I like👍
Thanks 👍
It's interesting to see ho the splices are made.
Thanks Ben! 👍
Não conhecia o truque do arame dobrado para fazer de sevela
Brilliant work, Teo!
Thanks Ray! 😉
Is that a coat hanger you made for a splicing tool? Very Nice!
HI,
That is a piece of 16awg (1.5mm2) rigid copper wire.
Thanks for the video! Where are you located? trying to identify the birds singing behind you...:)
Portugal, just south of Lisbon. The birds are in the Tagus estuary! 😁
Good video. Where do you get your rings? Thank you
You should put your boat where there's water.. boats in mud don't sail very well..
