I would have used lock tite on both those star bit screws to prevent that from happening again. With it being loose for so long, it may have gouged a channel in the shaft. I have even used a few drops of superglue on the exterior of a set screw to lock it. The superglue can and does penatrate into the threads. I owned an 04 Trailblazer with almost 300k on it. I went through 2 transmissions before selling it for parts. The guy that purchased it spend over 3k to fix it back up and drove it.
Thank you buddy this automatically fixed the rattling over bumps in the steering wheel. My two t25 bolts was very loose. Drives like a brand new truck now !
I have been chasing the steering shaft "clunk clunk" over bumps for a while now. I have replaced all of the the worn suspension parts: lower ball joints, upper ball joints, and upper control arms. Replacing those items did help the steering feel a bit tighter but fastening those screws definitely fixed the loose steering. However, i still got the clunks so looks like I'll be using your other video about the steering shaft replacement. Thank you for posting these regarding the GMT360 platform.
