Seeing the French-Piedmontese house of Savoy ruling over Southern Italy and Sardinia is already much of a border gore to me (I know that in our timeline they were the ones who voted for the monarchy to stay, but still)
Also helps to see if some of the votes were taken under the assumption that other votes would succeed. Especially for the ruling government, since thats one of the biggest factors in determining how happy every major power is (Just as an example, if the baltics, poland, and the southern german confederation including the czechs went communist, the Soviets would be much more favorable to the deal). You can kinda tell it probably happened a decent bit, removing Franco because hes a totalitarian but then reinstating totalitarians in Poland is an interesting play Idk if those specific votes were actually close, but its interesting to see how far we were from a deal that actually could have worked.
Soviets will 100% cause a war over this if this is before the nukes are dropped, possibly even after the nukes were dropped as the Soviets know the limited number of nukes are mostly used on japan. While technically not a peace deal, it would also be cool to vote on the possible collapse of the Warsaw Pact/NATO at the end of the cold war. Really enjoying these vids. Keep it up dude!
Soviets would be salty, Northern Italy would probably become an example of a "successful" socialist state & probably close trade partners with Yugoslavia, atleast compared to Southern Italy, German politics would probably be dominated by the reunification question for decades, RoC may beat PRoC, but either one would probably invade unstable mongolia and manchuria to get their land back, Cold War would probably be further factionalised as socialist states following the Italian model diverge from Stalinist Russia, India might unify under some of the stronger states or there might be a lot of war. Same with SEA. Japan probably does a bit better than our timeline.
This would probably have been the least awful peace deal yet if not for our collective obsession with Poland. Letting Stalin puppet Poland would have probably made him more or less OK with this outcome, as while he has lost Baltic Sea access compared to OTL, he has gained massive dominance over the Black Sea and at least somewhat non-hostile regimes in large parts of the Mediterranean. He also got Sakhalin, which is all he could really want in the East, and the expansion of states which could easily fall into the Soviet sphere into Chinese territory.
Puppeted Poland basically guarantees the Baltic states fall back in to the Soviet orbit, so Stalin would certainly be happy enough with that. The borders the viewers drew, on the other hand, ensures that Soviet troops never withdraw from the frontlines. Puppet states by another name, I suppose.
And the underdeveloped eastern regions populated by Ukrainians /Belarusians are not necessary for Poland to be "stronk". All those do is paint a bright red Soviet target on Poland's back.
@@KiraiKatsuji This is just going to get them invaded by the Soviets all over again. You can't make Poland stronk with changes at this point in the timeline, it's too late for that. Try the WW1 poll if you want a stronk Poland.

I mean neither did the allies, they had 3 nukes in the war, 2 were used in Japan. That leaves 1 for the Soviets assuming the plane doesn't get shot down. They had the material and facilties to build 15 more by the end of 1945. But they are still delivered by regular bombers which can be shot down by the still viable soviet airforce. So there is going to be a conventional war, with nukes at the end *if* the allies win air superioty AND do so before the war ends.

That Manchurian Qing state is a humongous slap in the face too. Way more so than American Taiwan. It basically legitimizes Imperial Japan's illegal seizure of Manchuria and vindicates its puppet emperor Puyi, the deposed last Emperor of China, for collaborating with the Japanese. i would like to state that it is incredibly unlikely that a us candidate would have won in korea as foreign powers were very unpopular across the entire peninsula, meanwhile Kim Il Sung was massively popular due to his immense success against the japanese in war, as well as being a great speaker and statesman generally. that is actually the only reason the RoK exists today, because the US didnt want a strong, united, socialist korea to impede on their ability to control east asia from Japan
The changes I voted on that went through: Luxembourg Netherlands* Hungary Austria** Sahalin *The lesser expansion option was technically achieved by the greater one **I voted for a democracy, but this is fine too I guess
The only change I made that went through was Bulgarian annexation into specifically Tito's Yugoslavia. They didn't collapse into bloody civil war during the continuation video and even ended up being important in the Third World War so I'll take a personal W from it.
Surely the conflict between Poles and Soviets would be inevitable with such borders, but I doubt it will end in WW3. Stalin would pressure for extra consetion but if he will see collective disapproval from the West I think Moscow will take step back to not provoke another war - IRL that was the case with Iran and Turkey. Main question is, will the Cold War even happen? The Red meanece is less present, Europe isn't divided in half and Soviet Union have less geopolitical advantages to successfuly pressure their ideology on others
If we imagine that all the subscriber selections make sense, and are not random, but as a completely full-fledged alternative timeline, then this is how I see it: Since the Kuomintang succeeded in defending the independence of Manchukuo, the Communist Party of China had to lose its extensive industrial base and developed transportation hub in northeastern China. I understand that the loss of these territories was a serious blow to the communist positions. Without access to industry and transportation, it will be much more difficult for them to wage guerrilla warfare against the Kuomintang. In addition, the direct presence of Americans on Taiwan and the still powerful Japan will not allow the communists to take a breather. In these conditions, Joseph Stalin, leader of the USSR, had to admit that a victory for the CPC in the civil war against the Kuomintang was unlikely. Moreover, in the context of the Cold War, the USSR did not have the ability to provide substantial military support to the CPC, fearing a deterioration in relations with the United States and its allies. In these circumstances, Stalin makes a number of decisions aimed at ensuring the interests of the USSR in East Asia: He allows the expansion of the territory of Mongolia at the expense of lands in Inner Mongolia in China. This provides greater geopolitical control over the region. He moves the priorities of policy regarding Korea, transferring it to the sphere of influence of the United States, focusing on China, (which the US had actually counted on in our past timeline) But more interestingly, if the CPC wins the civil war, and since at that time Taiwan would belong to the Americans, then, the Kuomintang will never be able to take China's seat in the UN. In my view, this means that the PRC will become the sole legitimate representative of China in the UN. The absence of nationalist Taiwan may also make the task of developing microchip production irrelevant. Then the US will likely remain the undisputed leaders in this industry, without facing future competition from Taiwan, slowing the development of high-tech sectors in the West due to the lack of competition. In addition, China will have the opportunity to influence the fragmented India, as well as expand its positions in Africa. However, the large size of Mongolia could also threaten the capital of China. As it seems to me, China will have 3 main options to address this problem. Firstly, China and the USSR could try to redivide Mongolia, but this would likely undermine Stalin's authority and provoke discontent among the Mongolian population. Secondly, the USSR could leave everything as it is, risking losing ties with China much earlier. As it seems to me, the most likely option would be active development of Chinese influence in Mongolia, since at that time China did not yet pose a direct threat to the USSR. Such a policy could make China a more influential force in the region and strengthen its positions. Thus, strong ties with Mongolia could become one of China's advantages in the alternative historical timeline under consideration. There could be interesting consequences for Europe in this alternative history. In my opinion, it is obvious that the Soviet Union would simply seize the Baltic states, facing no serious resistance. Czechoslovakia, however, is unlikely to be seized, but it may not make much difference in the struggle between communism and capitalism. Let's assume that in this timeline Truman and Stalin show greater willingness to compromise. In my view, the creation of buffer states in the form of constitutional monarchies could make sense not only for the United States but also for the USSR. For a monarch could play the role of a "transitional figure", facilitating the transformation of the political system. The focus here would not be on people's uprisings against bourgeois leaders, but on expanding communist influence over monarchs. In my understanding, this does not seem completely unrealistic, considering that there were cases in our history when monarchical states peacefully transformed into communist, such as Egypt after the overthrow of the monarchy. Thus, the creation of communist-oriented monarchies in a number of European countries could have been Stalin's cunning plan masked as a compromise solution for dividing spheres of influence between East and West.
Tbh without Manchuria the CCP is dead. OTL the Communists were forced out of China proper and ended up fighting in Liaodong where they managed to beat the KMT. Assuming a restoration of Qing China (as if that was a possibility) the CCP don't have access to Soviet surplus and secure bases in Manchuria and unless the USSR trucks goods along the new Mongol-Shaanxi border the CCP is probably dead. The more serious concern is that to Chiang, his worse fears about the US, that they planned on colonising China have been realised. Manchuria has not been returned and neither has Mongolia, and despite being a victorious allied power Taiwan has been occupied by the US. In such a case, I see him outright ignoring such a treaty and continuing the advance northwards, to retake Manchuria and crush the CCP. I can see the USSR, discontented with the results themselves siding with Chiang (they had a working relationship pre-war) and giving him free reign to attack and takeover Manchuria. That said, if the USSR is allowed to ignore the treaty entirely they could just give the Qing territories to the CCP and in such a case Chiang has even less legitimacy than real life. Between the economic crash and loss of Taiwan, he most likely gets overthrown. This probably makes a PRC victory inevitable as well and unlike in OTL, I doubt any KMT member will agree to work with the US meaning either China has no seat at the UN or the PRC automatically gets entry into the UN. Either way though, China will be hostile to the US and aligned with the USSR at first.
In our history, the United States invested a lot of money in West Germany, despite the fact that the initial GDP per capita there was already around 30-40% higher than in East Germany. Over time, West Germany became increasingly presentable in comparison to the GDR, and to a large extent due to this the USSR collapsed. Soviet tourists saw the imperfections of the socialist system when comparing it to life in capitalist countries, with West Germany being the most visited. Without this, the desire of citizens to dismantle the USSR would have decreased by 30-40%. Moreover, without the Berlin Wall and its fall, there would have been no symbol of the cultural defeat of communism. On the contrary, it is not so improbable that the USSR would have slowly reformed itself. Returning to the US, they still had to choose a country to invest their finances in the absence of Germany. There are three possible scenarios: France, some German principalities and the most likely option - Southern Italy. The US understands that in the struggle between capitalism and communism, the delights of capitalist life must be demonstrated at the border of communist Italy. Although it also borders France, these are neighboring but fundamentally different countries that developed separately over several centuries. Therefore, there would have been no significant dissatisfaction if life in France was better. However, if the two Italies, which until recently had been one whole, became significantly different from each other, this would have caused dissatisfaction. It should be noted that in Northern Italy, GDP per capita is 30-35% higher than in Southern Italy, which gives an advantage to communists. Southern Italy would have improved thanks to money from the US, but not as fast as Germany. The USSR could well have had time for reforms.
@@matthewzibinwong7731 It's nice to know, I don't really know much about this topic. I couldn't have imagined that what I considered unfavourable conditions for the formation of the PRC could actually play in their favour. And what I didn't know were Chiang Kai-shek's goals. You could have told me what would have happened to Mongolia, although considering Chiang Kai-shek's aspirations, he would have simply insisted on returning Inner Mongolia to China, even if he was able to choose influencing all of Mongolia instead, he wouldn't have wanted to do that. For a few years until they boot him out, King Micheal of Romania is also still of that Dynasty, maybe in this timeline he can exile in Germany instead of Switzerland, maybe the monarchy in Romania even stays or comes back? It was actually incredibly popular at the time and after the fall of communism, so much so that the post Romanian Revolution leaders barred Micheal from coming back out of fear everyone would want him back.

Ukraine got caught between the rock (anti-Russian sentiment) and the hard place (pro-Polish sentiment).

Japan probably does a bit better than our timeline.
if you do The Cold War, you should have it be titled "How my Followers caused the World to End"
BUT POLAND NEEDS TO BE STRONK!!!
And the underdeveloped eastern regions populated by Ukrainians /Belarusians are not necessary for Poland to be "stronk". All those do is paint a bright red Soviet target on Poland's back.

the Soviets would prefer nuclear war to this peace deal.
No way in hell thd Soviets accept this.
Yeah, would of been more acceptable if Russa kept the Baltic and got Poland and Czechoslovakia as puppets.
well they didn't have nukes back then so it wouldn't be much of a war
I mean neither did the allies, they had 3 nukes in the war, 2 were used in Japan. That leaves 1 for the Soviets assuming the plane doesn't get shot down. They had the material and facilties to build 15 more by the end of 1945. But they are still delivered by regular bombers which can be shot down by the still viable soviet airforce. So there is going to be a conventional war, with nukes at the end *if* the allies win air superioty AND do so before the war ends.
Best scenario for WW2 would've been an alliance of Poland, Germany, Britain, France and perhaps others against the Soviet Union. This could've been possible if a more moderate leader came to power in Germany in the 1930s instead of A.H. or if A.H. was removed from power before 1939. Germany could still get most of the territory it had by the end of 1938 without having really bad relations with Britain and France. Germany could have given guarantees to defend Eastern European countries against Soviet aggression. Before the German occupation of Czechia in March 1939 an alliance between Germany, Britain and France against the Soviets was a real possibility. In case of a Soviet attack in this scenario the Soviets wouldn't have any allies or the Lend - Lease and would've been defeated by the European anti-Soviet coalition.

Oh my god we'd die in a thermonuclear war in this scenario
If we imagine that all the subscriber selections make sense, and are not random, but as a completely full-fledged alternative timeline, then this is how I see it:
Since the Kuomintang succeeded in defending the independence of Manchukuo, the Communist Party of China had to lose its extensive industrial base and developed transportation hub in northeastern China.
In these circumstances, Stalin makes a number of decisions aimed at ensuring the interests of the USSR in East Asia:
He allows the expansion of the territory of Mongolia at the expense of lands in Inner Mongolia in China. This provides greater geopolitical control over the region.
He moves the priorities of policy regarding Korea, transferring it to the sphere of influence of the United States, focusing on China, (which the US had actually counted on in our past timeline)
But more interestingly, if the CPC wins the civil war, and since at that time Taiwan would belong to the Americans, then, the Kuomintang will never be able to take China's seat in the UN.

You could have told me what would have happened to Mongolia, although considering Chiang Kai-shek's aspirations, he would have simply insisted on returning Inner Mongolia to China, even if he was able to choose influencing all of Mongolia instead, he wouldn't have wanted to do that. In general, I'm more interested in learning what will happen in the Asian theater of events than the European one. I hope Possible History doesn't let us down again and comes up with something worthwhile.
Amazing can't wait for more!
The monarchies should be a third faction, refusing to allign with either side.
Edit Because this was needed apparently: Unless attacked, in which case they rush to the other side for aide.
Except they got a bunch of communist states on their border or in close proximity, and they are a weaker axis powers, so they will 100% side with the polish atleast and almost certainly the west eventually.
@@matthiuskoenig3378not sure of that, I actually think Poland could become an empire watching those balkanized states as an easy quick snack

I find it particularly fascinating the monarchies return and with them the Hohenzollern dynasty.
