Very nice gentle pace of video and music. It was very enjoyable and also great to see this iconic plane brought to life by a gifted modeller, well done my friend. Have fun, Joe
I love your videos man, especially the Japanese planes you're building. I'm also have a collection of Zeros but all are papercraft, anyway you got some wonderful skills there lad, keep it up 😄👏
I haven't commented on THIS one??? Hm.. Well, I have now.. true beauty, as always with your Zeroes.. :) Had to watch it with the sound down though.. Not sure what has happened with my computer. :(
It´s always as entertaining as instructive to watch your videos, and this one has inspired me to try some techniques used for some for some future projects. I still have so much to catch up on your channel, but I´m going through a rather hectic period at the moment (which is no impediment, however, to put my hands at this hobby from time to time). Regards, see you soon, congratulations and keep it up!
Welcome :) Model as always beautiful .. I can see your sympathy to the plane :) I wonder why you used the IJA Grey? IJN should not be? Both shades are different from each other.
Another great build Im currently building the B-25C/D Mitchell. Then I've a Gloucester gladiator mk1/2, and on order should get by Tuesday a battle of Britain momoreal which includes with stands a Lancaster bomber a supermarina spit fire and a hurricane. And a dogfight double with stands a German messchermitt and super marina spitfire I think that should keep me going for a few months my first kit I completed last week which is the American p50 I hand painted it but I'd like an airbrush like yours but the one they sell at airfix as bad reviews and looks nothing like yours there's the paint is internal where as yours is external so was wondering what or where I can get one like yours and what composer would I need.. Once again many thanks and another amazing build so relaxing watching these videos
Thanks again Duncan, that's an awesome list of kits you've got going. I bought my airbrush out of Japan, but a few art stores do sell airbrushes, which was nice as I was able to hold some of them and see the balance in my hand and the overall weight. Dedicated model shops sometimes carry airbrushes and compressors. But if you have anything like Kijiji or Craigslist in the UK check on there for a cheap simple compressor. You can usually find a good one for a great price with a bit of hunting, also pawn shops. I see compressors around here a lot from people that tried to airbrush their nails or do their own helmets. They end up getting frustrated and selling them pretty cheap. I would advise against buying a used airbrush however, every used airbrush I've ever come across has been damaged or abused in some sort of way and would cost me a bit to restore and clean it up to working condition.
@@rebelsatcloudnine yes I can understand some people getting frustrated however once I get my mind and heart n soul into something then there's nothing I wouldn't do I got frustrated at learning to play guitar but then life went south and a genuine couple took me in and would you believe the guy much older than me was a music teach3and I lived with them for 2 years and I paid for food and rent by helping them build an extention on the house right next to raf conningsby Lincolnshire UK and now although I'm bk in East Midlands which is the dead centre of England I left being able to play my acoustic guitar.... And now I'm taking lessons from you who lives in a different country how great life can be when you find a hobby that you want to pour your heart n soul Into.. @@duncankent1330 That is really awesome Duncan :) I really admire your determination, I'm certain that you are going to get the most out of this hobby. I suffer from high anxiety and panic attacks and there are times that I can pour that excess fear into the modeling and within a few hours it's gone and I've accomplished do much.
You know I was just wondering to myself earlier "I wonder if r@cn is going to build a zero any time soon" and as soon as I looked at my subs there it was!
Nice job on the Zero! I really like the detail you put into it. I was wondering if you could tell me how you tape the canopy parts so that you can just paint frames without worry of scratching the plastic. Can you also tell me what method of gluing the canopy parts do you use? Thanks. Knowing these two thing will help my B-29 model which is LONG overdue
Hey man, I made this video a while ago, I hope that it answers your questions, if not let me know. Lately I've also seen modelers use bare metal foil to mask windows, and they've had good success with that. I'll try that out one day when I find some. I use Microscale Krystal Klear, it's some of the nicest glues in my opinion. Dries clear and after a few days becomes really strong.
I had to import this paint from Taiwan, 100% worth it, Mr Hobby Aqueous H-63, in my opinion nearly spot on to the real deal. And leveled so nicely, I can't wait to use it on my 1:32 A6M5 :D
Thank you for the vid. What are you gaining by painting red brown under the gray and green black under the Mitsubishi green? Do they show through? Also, you wrote that you got the Aquis blue green from Japan. Is there any difference between the Aquis and the Tamiya metallic blue green? I'm a bit of a paint snob. Thanks for your reply.
The Mr Hobby Metallic Blue/Green is a more accurate representation to the Tamiya Metallic Blue. Tamiya color is a lot darker, and in their instructions they suggest mixing it with Clear Green. Having done that I've found that the paint separates too quickly, so I decided to try the Mr Hobby color, and I like it a lot more.
Thanks Ace, I find that it works better for Japanese brand decals. I've got Micro Set and Sol, but I usually use Tamiya since it's right in front of me.
A very nice build, I enjoy watching and listening, I have 10 zekes in my stash, I'd love to see you build a zeke from a training kotukai with the bright orange underside, i.e. Matchbox has that option..Nice Job
Thanks Brian. A trainer Zero is on my to do list. I will be doing some prototype/ trainer Japanese aircraft in the near future. I've got the Matchbox Zero, and I'm saving up parts to build it as a A6M1. The Matchbox kit is quite close to it already :)
That's from the Tamiya 1:72 Zero. On the decal sheet, you get seatbelts. I took that, scanned in my computer and then created multiple copies. It sits a lot better than the decal and looks a bit more real (like faded leather).
@@rebelsatcloudnine About the Mitsubishi Cockpit Color paint, did you brush it right out of the bottle or did you have to thin it? I've got Tamiya's 1/32 A6M5 in progress.
I think this one came out in 2005-ish? The kit itself is a bit older, but the decals were quite new. They behaved quite well, I do know what you mean about some of their older decals, I had some troubles with an Orion a few years ago.
This is the one piloted by Tetsuzo IWAMOTO, one of the super aces of IJN.
What we learned here - one can not ever have enough Zeros!
Great build! Really admire your Rising Sun Empire collection
Thanks Man :D It's been a while since I've built one. Hopefully another one or two in the near future :D
Lovely 1/72 Zero. Beautifully painted and built.
Thanks Chancer :D

Hey rebels! What song do you use in the background here? I think it fit's Japanese builds VERY well!

Hello! I like your A6M5. How do you make masks for main gear bays?
Thank you :) I placed some Tamiya tape over the wheel bays and then I took my hobby knife and carefully cut around the profile.
@@rebelsatcloudnine I just started Hasegawa A6M5. :-) thx for your answer :-) I bought single shot main Gear masks. I think it will be usefull.
@@rebelsatcloudnine do you have any problems with fitting canopy?
@@ktos337 No, not that I can recall. I think nearly everything fit perfectly with this build.
@@rebelsatcloudnine ok. Nice to hear :-)
Lovely build.
Cool, you can use Harambe Glue on Photo-Etch Parts such as seatbelts? Intresting...
Nice build. I just started the Hasagawa 1/72 J3M3 Raiden (Jack). I'll use some of your techniques.
Thanks.
Awesome :D Good luck with your build :)
Nice model, well done
Nice video. I do prefer your build with the factory fresh or just repainted look.
Thanks, I prefer them clean myself. I haven't got the knack for chipping and weathering.
Welcome :) Model as always beautiful .. I can see your sympathy to the plane :) I wonder why you used the IJA Grey? IJN should not be? Both shades are different from each other.
I find their JA Grey is closer to what the actual aircraft used. Just a preference I guess :D
