Horizon Zero Dawn is a sprawling open world action RPG for PlayStation 4 with main quests, side missions, and lots of loot, plus tons of massive robotic dinosaurs to fight.
The first Deathbringer was so "easy" because it kept over heating and it couldn't move around. THIS thing though is a whole different story. I find that shooting fire arrows at it often on its weak spots and using my sharpshot arrows on the weapon components helped bring it down.....after my 6ish attempt on hard lol.
Shelby Bowen lol, 5e first one was also easily to me because I shot a blaze canister and took down 3/4 of the DB health
i just shot it in one of its vulnerable spots and it lost half of its health but now im struggling and i forgot to buy a better bow rip

The deathbringer was 1 hit away from dying and when I was about to shoot my bow it killed me

Fkn same. Ran out of healing stuff when it only had a couple hundred hp
here are my two cents on this.
I'm a new gamer and this thing was just hell for me. i found myself there with nothing but basic weapons. none of the fancy bombs everyone uses.
1) I didn't waste any arrows on the guards. they were easy to kill with a single strike from the spear from close range even in the middle of the whole mess.
2) I noticed that it was the heavy machine gun that gave me a tough time. not the rockets or the flame thrower (that can damage you only in close range). it was the machine gun that didn't allow me any breaks between the rocket waves (it takes some time for the machine to shoot another wave of rockets).
3) so in contrary to the majority of the guides, I didnt start off by shooting the rocket launcher on the shoulder, but rather by attacking the machine gun. and once it was down everything was MUCH easier! I had plenty of time between the rocket strikes to attack the launcher on the shoulder with simple fire arrows untill the whole machine went down.
I must add that after endless failing attempts in which I started by attacking the launcher on the shoulder, once I decided to start off by shooting the machine gun I took the whole thing down in my first attempt!

Amjad Shoufany I followed all of your suggestions and indeed you were right, i've almost kill but that piece of shit killed me, I had few health and there no healthy poison and medical herb. I almost destroyed the joystick.

If you get clean headshots it wont notice. If not, just drop down and kill them all at once
It's because he is playing on a lower difficulty... Can't pass this machine on Ultra Hard :(
Just finished this boss on 3rd attempt normal difficulty. Don’t waste your arrows to this type, use explosives as the best weapon.
I used the shadow tripcaster which allows setting up blasting trap from a distance. That weapon is easier to get than the shadow slinger which shooting fire bomb/ blast bomb. The traps also require more basic resources to craft so you can spam traps ammo the whole time
Needs a lot of patience though. Lots of rolling and bullet dodges, setting up a bunch of traps. The boss seems to purposely avoid the traps , however after a while it kinda lost control and traps also deal more damages. 20 mins of game time to kill it but it’s quite worth it.

after 15 attempts I beat the deathbringer on easy YAHOO
I recommend that you play it on Hard mode it's way more challenging and fun

in case you are still stuck, this is how i did it with basic weapons:

If anyone is finding this Deathbringer boss too hard to defeat (like I did. I had no bow etc.), just change the difficulty to the Story setting. It was amazingly easier. I defeated the Deathbringer just by attacking with my spear over and over.

I beat that Deathbringer. It took me one week to kill that 😥.
This is why you do side quests first before heading onto the main mission
Wow, I guess I am terrible I have defeated Thunderjaw, Rockbreaker, and I am a level 40 and still cannot defeat this thing. What I have done in the past is be able to hide, or be able to have an object between me and this thing. Maybe I am just to OLD for this and should not be playing. I am 65. :) :)
That was a pain in the ass finally got it. Best way is definitely hit its legs and run up and hit it a few times.
Just dominated this Deathbringer last night on Normal. It took me a week worth of nights playing this boss. I tried all the fancy tech, didn't help. I just used fire arrows and rolled out of the way of all the incoming projectiles. Well, as much as I could. I refilled my health at least 10x during the fight. Loot at the end if you can. Always keep the DB is your view. Good Luck.

I defeated it in my 3rd try (first two tries were to analyze the whole map, to see where i can hide), using sticky bombs and other bombs. I have to admit tho, i faced him on level 33. Side quests and errands are likeable in this game and i dont get bored doing them + exploring the land and taking down new (big) enemies bring plenty of XP. Therefore i didnt had much problems with this deathbringer, i didnt even shoot him in his weak spots 😅

Lol, it was easy to me. All I had to do was kill cultists at first, then go down, then just jump and shoot my hard point arrows at the weak spots and weapons, then use fire arrows to overheat it. After that all I had to do is use hard point arrows on the cooling rods and then he died. I was surprised on how good this worked.In order to do this, you need the hunter reflexes skill so you can jump, slow down time, then shoot.

Y'all keep talking about how difficult this boss is. Why don't any of you guys use tearblast arrows and remove it's components? It's really easy once the guns and flamethrowers are taken out. All that's left are the missiles which can be easily dodged.
The thing that makes these harder than the other animal-like machines is that deathbringers are soley machines

Killing this beast as a level 19 is nothing but extraordinary and i did that. Feeling proud as i read some people tried it for month... and me , only about 10 trys at normal mode

My game has to be glitched or something. Every time it brought out its orange parts that you can normally shoot to get it knocked down (like here 3:29) nothing happened when i shot them at all. So frustrating

Took me 2 hrs of continuous gameplay at the Very Hard difficulty to kill it. Feeling damn proud of mgself after reading all the comments
Just shoot the head component part till it comes off and then just finish it off by throwing fire l arrows till it overheats your done with this boss
Why don't devs understand stun locking the player for a full 15 seconds isn't fun? Don't get me wrong this game is amazing! I just hate the stun/stagger locks, it happens constantly and is just frustrating. It's not fun when you fight Glinthawks, Stormbirds and bosses like this when you can't do shit for long periods of time because you're staggered. Once they start shooting and hitting you over and over all you can do sometimes is wait for their cool down. Just one of the very few things I didn't like about the game and it didn't make me give up
Finally someone who thinks like me 😭 Yes I totally agree. It really just takes all the fun away and then you can't wait to end this game. The feeling shouldn't be this way :( Hope you got a to finish it though lol
I had to finish it at Lv.12 in Normal mode with just half of my medicine pouch refill using carja bows... Thankful that I didn't run out of ridge-wood😂

this makes it look way too easy. i cant pick the guys off without it noticing. i cant kill it and i get shot too much before i get to do any real damage. this is obviously someone who knows what theyre doing, cos i dont. thinking about leveling up before i attempt this.

Easily took it out by throwing shock bombs at it with my sling and then using arrows to shoot the gun off, which I then proceeded to shoot at the deathbringer. I also used the many exploits in the game to unlock the OP armour
How can you make it zoom like that when you aiming with your weapon?

It's satisfying how close you were to disarm this thing. Instead of just killing it, you mutilated it.
I’m playing this on ultra hard and a headshot only does 91 damage guess I missed how to upgrade (menus are really overcrowded and it doesn’t tell you what type of machines you need to craft certain weapons only the material so that’s annoying too” even tho I have fire and tear mods on its garbage I gotta shoot someone 3 times to kill by that Time Machine is on me and leads me perfectly with machine gun and rockets everywhere I go let alone trying to finish off the other guys at the same time, idk it’s gonna sit for a few days cause I don’t have the patience
They detached the deathbringer from the metal devil? Was the metal devil replicating the deathbringer before they were shut off?
What arrow and what clothes are you using?
i spent almost half an hour on that fat machine. after that i realize there’s an easier way to destroy it! hehe 😄
I did it by shooting its mini canon at the front off and using that then it was down on fairly low health for me to finish.

I like this fight. I got rid of the eclipse guys first, while I dodged the deathbringer. Then, I just ran in a circle around it and waited until it's weak spots showed. When that happened, I slid, slowed down time and shot him on the weak spots while sliding. It was pretty badass.

I didn't beat it yet but there is some holes you can climb in and just bombard it with arrows. Until it came close and it destroyed me lol.
Stealth? Bruh i tearblasted the gun then jumped down without rapplings, and picked up the deathbringers gun and shot it down lol

I have probably passed my 30 attempts. I have been trying for two days and this fucker keeps killing me. My arrow is not strong enough, so instead of getting the max point, i get just 108 and when the fuckers make noise, the moronic machine descends on my ass. dammit.

Motaz I'm not sure but I have a carja sharpshot bow it has 60 damage without mods

5th attempt i beat it, i used the additional arrow skill on my carja sharpshot bow. First damaged the bomb shooting thingy and then one of the guns. Good amount of damage but still pretty hard

I just did it on my second go.....and I'm crap at this! Found myself running underneath it, then just stayed there unleashing fire arrows at its undercarriage. Best to get rid of the way hers and cultists first with a sharpshot arrow first.
Just shoot the big canon and roll until u destroy it then shoot the middle till it dies

If you really cant go through, just put ur game on „story“ mode. I did that and it was so easy to kill them. I really need to upgrade my arrows though…

Ran round the whole room and took cover behind the cylinder stacks ... Hard Point arrow shot every time I seen the glowing parts .... One Take... One Run ...(this shit was fun ) I guess also being level 28 by time I got here ...Side quest and picking up dam near everything I saw n crafted got me through this

Jacky Coolheart use r3 it slows down time and zooms in(it is a skill and you need to unlock it by holding the touch bar)

I bought a bomb sling and killed it on first try, I was on normal and I almost used up all my healing
After 100 tries later.... I just used the precision bow arrow and hit the top left gun which reduces the health a lot quicker just run and hit haha
