- A beautiful song from a gruesome scene in the 1978 movie The Toolbox Murders. Sorry about the wavering pitch. This is the only copy of this song I have.
Ripped from the Retro Movie Love podcast retromovielove...
Check out the full scene

It's so good to finally here the official release of the song and not just the audio from the movie! I got so used to listening to this song in the movie, that it sounds different without the nail gun and other sound effects. I really wish they'd release the whole soundtrack. This movie had such a wide variety of amazing songs and music. It's impressive that the same guy wrote and sang all of them.
Yes. 1978. Toolbox. Murders songs and. Flim is. Real. Good 👍
Love the song pretty lady from 1977 toolbox 🧰 murders love the flim it is a classic 👌

Terri Stubbs was only 14 years old when she recorded this song with George Deaton. Years ago, her older brother and I worked at the same job together. We became friends and one day we were talking horror films and I told him this was one of my all-time favorites. He then told me this was his sister singing on that song. I thought damn, what a small world! He told Terri and she sent me an autographed CD recording of the song.
Does she have another copy….this is my favourite song from a horror movie ever and I’ve been looking for a year now tryna find a physical copy
Even when just listening to the song I can still hear the sounds of a nail gun, plant pots being smashed and screams.
Really love this song. Since I heard this song on The Toolbox Murders years ago, I'm finally getting a chance to hear again here on UA-cam. 😊⛏🛠
Yes. That's where I heard it. There was another song from that movie called Carolina in the Morning that I can't find anywhere
I ❤ this! Best scene in the movie. They need to release all of the songs.
One of the best scenes in horror!
Even more beautiful in it's entirety. What a sweet song. :)
Beautiful song
You wouldn't happen to have "Carolina in the Morning" by the same artist (it also is in the film)? :)
man your a saint for uploading this masterpiece
I thank you for posting this rare song!
Where’s Carolina in the morning?
I am the Tara Lyn from that song 😢 what could tara Lyn be doing? I was 10 years old. Thank I for your kind words
❤
This and the Other Radio Hits are great. Very Rare Soundtrack
Thanks for posting this song. You are a hero!
I just found the entire score in pencil for this theme for Toolbox Murders. I found the original posters for the movie
Thought I was the only dead head that had ever seen this movie 😂
@@tristanbrennan5684 Haha 😄 My Dad did the entire score for this movie, George Deaton. I kinda grew up with it 😂
@@taradeaton1110 that is so cool! We must chat sometime, I have many questions 😂
@@taradeaton1110I gotta know, does he still have a copy of “Carolina in the Morning” by any chance? I gotta hear it!
@@revan1944 That has been the most difficult recording to find. I remember Dad playing that record for my brothers and I, before the movie was released. It was, along with, Pretty Lady-a single on Country Showcase America. Dad was still receiving small royalties from BMI, all these many years later. My older brother is Executive Producer of the CMAs so he knows many people associated with music labels, and i have all faith he will find it. An interesting story about tgat song, is Dad sued the band, Alabama, because their song "Christmas in Dixie", is my Dads melody, down to the exact notation, of Carolina in the Morning. It got to the point where Dad could no longer continue the lawsuit due to how expensive it had become. I found the entire lawsuit in an old briefcase. Listen to Christmas in Dixie, and see for yourself! When we find Dads song, i will let u know. Thank you for supporting my Dad. He was a great songwriter and an even better father.
I am George Deaton's daughter
He was always a star to me
He passed May 23, 2024. He was 83, and i love and miss him so very much
I will soon be paying tribute to your father on my UA-cam channel, do you have this song in better quality?
@davidfromlille That's wonderful to hear!! I am still cleaning out his home, I have come across headshots and early reels of his Wilmington based morning show, Carolina in the Morning and movie posters of Toolbox M., and the Disc Jockey. Found the album with Much Oblige Jack Greene and Jeanie Sealy, but haven't come across any Country Showcase America records in which Pretty Lady was released as a single on, as well as Carolina in the Morning. (IM the Tara Lyn in that song btw ☺️). But we are all looking for his quality recordings. I will let u know?? Please keep me informed of your tribute. 🥰

Sorry for your loss.
I heard a rumor somewhere that the fella who wrote Pretty Lady had a crush on Kelly Nichols (aka the girl who gets killed with the nail gun), so he wrote the song for her.
I think Kelly mentions this in the DVD bonus features.
She was Gorgeous in this Gem.
She is beautiful! She has multiple aliases! She also was a poRn star.
So is a song created for the movie? That's why I couldn't find it anywhere from the lyrics. That's awesome, the quality of the song is incredible to not be an official record.
Garish, nightmarish, and beautiful - just like the film!
Excellent !
Thanks!
I hate the fact they released an edited version of the film. Not only cutting scenes but cutting up the music really bad. Im glad i own a uncut copy on vhs.
Best I recall, Terri Stubbs was the young lady singing in this one.
Thank you so much for uploading this.
Is there a CD of his songs or even a vinyl or cassette tape?
So is this not a realeased song ?
Super film. Very realistic murders
This couldn't be made for the movie right? It's a wonderful song really, but kind of odd to play it through the DVD to friends when they have to watch the bathtub scene while "listening to a nice song"
Love this song lyrics ?
