This video covers the removal of the stock TJ bumper, and the installation of the Smittybilt bumber. You can find this bumper at extremeterrain.com, specifically at the following link:
www.extremeter...
You can also buy this bumper without the option D-Ring tabs.
As you can see, this is as much about teaching my 15 year old son the basics of working on Jeeps.

Paint the D rings ORANGE, put on some rubber isolators and rubber rings to make the D rings silent and wont bang or damage bumper. You can get a kit off Ebay for $5-$6 for isolators and rubber rings
Nice to see him wrench on his rig, however I'd go for closed toe shoes when installing anything on my jeep especially heavy metal bumpers ;-) good luck to you two.
He makes up for it by having gloves on.
I wish my dad bought everything for my jeep
me too!
I probably would have made an asinine comment like that too until I became a father. It was then that I realized that you can’t put a dollar amount on time spent teaching your kids...or talking to them...or just being with them. While I’m not all about giving my kids the easy way in life with everything, I think a few hundred bucks on a bumper is absolutely a worthwhile investment.
Not every kid gets to do this with their father ! I wish I could’ve spend any time with mine but he pass away when I was 11. Your videos with your son makes me happy to watch you pass your wisdom along!
The most important upgrade a jeep can can start with is a bumper upgrade with a winch .. Why have you chosen to skip on the winch ?
Working with heavy bumpers and wearing flip flops. Great idea. Saftey first folks
Brad Michaud OSHA did not clear this video. :-)
Hey I work in flip flops
nice, i'm running a barricade bumper with LED's on a 04 tj rubicon
Like your vids but you guys drive me crazy with all the heavy work you do wearing flip-flops on your feet.
Brian Juleff afraid to see a crushed toe!
It’s a Smittybilt.... nothing will be aligned. The QC with their products is horrible. On my bumper the milled holes were off across the length by 9/16”.
Wearing those silly-ass nitrile gloves and flip flops. SaFeTy FiRsT! SMH.
Great farther son time. Woooooweeeee
Great bumper up grade
I put an ARB bull bar and Smittybilt 8000lb winch on the front of my 2000 TJ, what a tank of a bumper! Love the look and the install is as simple as it gets
I let it set in WD40 over night and my Jeep is a 02 wrangler
Good video , shame about the fit up to the sway bar cover and mounting holes on top , always wondered what the quality was like with smittybilt as we don't see much of it in Australia
Still have those fog lights? Consider selling them locally?

I have the same T55’s on my Jeep front bumper, but mine are stripped. What would you use or need to get them off?
That sucks. Can you get heavy duty vice grips around the heads? You could also look at grinding a little notch on the edge of the head, and use that with a chisel and hammer to try and rotate it. Once it's broke loose there are some easier options. Heat may help. Just some thoughts I'd look at.
o3djeeps [ OVERCLOCK3D Jeeps ] what size vice grip would I need. I can get them just don’t know what size.
@@brandon.lamson4670 Big. It would need to clamp on that head with a lot of force, and preferably one you can put a breaker bar on the handle to get some leverage.
o3djeeps [ OVERCLOCK3D Jeeps ] alright I appreciate your help! 🤙🏻
If all fails try to drill them out. That’s what I had to do with the rear bumper when I took of that plastic ends
Put anti-seize on those bolts next time. And re-using those torx bolts was stupid. Should've replaced them with hex bolts. Rookie mistake.
Something I need to do myself... invest in a lithium impact driver 🤷🏻♂️
money well spent! I had no idea how much I would value my battery powered tools. It took me a while to get used to it... I often would reach for the ratchet out of habit, but now I use power tools unless I can't!
