เพลงแห่งรัตนโกสินทร์เป็นการนำบทเพลงที่อยู่ใน งานสร้างสรรค์ดุริยางคศิลป์ วรรณกรรมเพลงไทยคลาสสิกแห่งกรุงรัตนโกสินทร์ (Music Composition Project: Rattanakosin Classical Music Repertoire) ซึ่งมี ศาสตรจารย์ ดร. ณัชชา พันธุ์เจริญ เป็นหัวหน้าโครงการ และสนับสนุนโครงการโดย สนง.กองทุนสนับสนุนงานวิจัย สกว. (The Thailand Research Fund) มาเรียบเรียงใหม่ โดยผู้เรียบเรียงได้รับหน้าที่ในส่วนการเรียบเรียงเพลงสำหรับวงดุริยางค์เครื่องลมจำนวนทั้งสิ้น 10 เพลง
ในคอนเสิร์ตครั้งนี้ผู้เรียบเรียงได้เลือกบทเพลง วิลันดาโอด ซึ่งเดิมเพลงวิลันดาโอดเป็นเพลงสองชั้นทำนองเก่าสำเนียงฝรั่ง เป็นเพลงประเภทหน้าทับสองไม้ มี 2 ท่อน นิยมใช้ประกอบการแสดงละครและในเพลงตับ สมเด็จพระเจ้าบรมวงศ์เธอ เจ้าฟ้ากรมพระยานริศรานุวัดติวงศ์ทรงนำไปบรรจุในตับซินเดอริลลา (เพลงตับเป็นเพลงที่นำมารวมเพลงร้องและเพลงบรรเลงติดต่อกัน) ทั้งนี้ผู้เรียบเรียงได้ดัดแปลงบทเพลงโดยเพิ่มเครื่องดนตรีไทยไม่ว่าจะเป็น ปี่ใน ซออู้ ตะโพน ฯลฯ บรรเลงร่วมกับวงดุริยางค์เครื่องลม ในช่วงที่เหมาะสม นอกจากนี้ยังได้เพิ่มบทเพลง เชิดนอก ในช่วงท้ายของเพลง เพื่อเพิ่มอรรถรส และโชว์ลีลาการเดี่ยวระหว่างเครื่องดนตรีต่าง ๆ โดยจังหวะจะเร้าเร็วขึ้น นำไปสู่การจบที่สง่างาม
Song of Rattanakosin was a list of songs that were selected and rearranged from Music Composition Project: Rattanakosin Classical Music Repertoire directed by Prof. Dr. Natcha Panjareon and supported by The Thailand Research Fund. The arranger is responsible for arranging 10 songs in total for Philharmonic Winds.
For this concert, the arranger chose Wiranda Ode repertoire which originally had outdated western style melody with a medium tempo. It is considered as a traditional Thai song with the distinctive style of playing a traditional musical instrument similar to a western drum. The song has 2 main parts and usually used in plays and "Pleng Tub", the collaboration between vocal songs and ballad songs. His Royal Highness Prince Chitcharoen, the Prince Narisara Nuvativongse had included the song in one part of the play called "Tableaux Vivantes". The particular part called "Tub Cinderella" adopted from Cinderella tale. The arranger added traditional Thai musical instruments such as Thai flute, an alto fiddle, Taphon (urban Thai musical instrument), and etc, to play together with Philharmonic Winds. Furthermore, the ending part will be extremely exciting as a very fast beat song called "Cherdnok" was added to show the excellent performance of each musical instrument which arousing tempo will lead to a remembrance graceful ending.
