How Do I Create an Opt-in Freebie in Mailchimp?

- Just so you know - this video isn't about creating the physical opt-in itself... but how to set up the process of 1. Sign up 2. Receive freebie!
Creating an opt-in process for freebies and downloadables seems confusing, but it's actually a lot easier and faster than you think. All you need is the free version of MailChimp. Simply create your list and set up your thank you page to contain your link - that's it! Watch the full video for a step by step of how to do this.

I have a question. So when I create the opt-in freebie for,,,,,,, a lets say a podcasting guide. The podcasting guide will be receive by subscribers who subscribe to my email list. But what happens when I want to create another opt-in freebie for a free check list. How do I make it so that the first freebie (podcast guide) is still available for new subscribers and the second freebie (free check list) is also available for new and current subscribers? Does Mailchimp allow you to set up more than one opt-in for with a separate page link?
Good question - I am searching for that very same thing and still haven't found the answer. I am sure I will come across it yet.
Nancy Telfer so I found out how to do it what you have to do is make a separate list for each opt-in freebie you want to give away then you can figure each list based on the freebies so when you go to your confirmation page and edit it it will allow you to attach a file such as a checklist or ebook that will automatically be email to them once they confirm they're often through the email. although I just found out how to do this I'm still going with leadpages which is great I have already tried it out and it works with MailChimp so leadpages is a good option it is however $37 a month but you don't necessarily have to have leadpages you can keep using MailChimp which is great I found that you can do a lot of things with the free account

Thanks, is there a way to provide a check box option for the subscriber at the thank you page, ie) tell me what your are interested in. I can't find a way to do this without aother sign up form, but if you do this essentially the subscriber is opting in two list. I'm trying to avoid that.

Question: I am using as a download to the person who signs up, an audiobook, free. Where will that audiobook reside or host.
That depends. You can upload all types of media files to your WordPress library, including audio files. You can always host it there. Although if it's a large file, you may not want to risk slowing down your site. If you already sell it on Amazon or something like that, instead of providing it as a freebie, my first thought would be to have them sign up and in exchange, they get a coupon code to download the book free. Hope that helps!

Absolutely! Things in MailChimp have changed a bit since I made this video, but you should be able to create an automation for every list or campaign in your account. Each automation (so each email you send per sign up) can be different. So you can add a new PDF per email. Hope that helps!

how do you save and create unique link?
When you save the PDF to your media library, the link will automatically be your URL plus the name of the PDF. So for example... thebrink.com/this-is-my-pdf. If you want to name it something else, you can always change the name of the PDF prior to upload. Or you can use bitly to create more custom links. Hope that helps!

This was very helpful, one question how do you hide your address from people seeing it after they've opted in?
Unfortunately, due to privacy laws, MailChimp requires you to have your business address at the bottom of your emails. No way to get around that unless you get a PO Box.
If someone has already signed up, how do they go about getting the freebie?
Great question! You can always send out a blast to your list notifying them that you have this freebie and that, since they've already signed up, they can download it if they want. I find that's helpful because you're not asking them for anything in return, you're giving them something free directly to their inbox without them following any steps. A great value-add to keep someone from unsubscribing later on.

Thanks for the link! My process is virtually the same, except I include the link in the Confirmation Thank You Page whereas MailChimp recommends to add it to the Final welcome email. There isn't really much of a difference.
Do you have to make a brand new list or can you do this with a Group/Segment on an existing list?
I'm pretty certain you can do this with a group or segment. I've never tried it myself... let me know if it works for you!

What you are telling is not available in Mailchimp today. Please remove it from site.There is no 'LIST' ,No General Pge, No details to fill what you tell.
If I wanted to send someone from facebook boosted post to an opt in page collect there email and send them my free Ebook, how do I take my book from my computer and insert the pdf file so that it is available to someone who signs up with there email? Anyone have any advise more easy to understand kinda lost. Thanks.
StevieBTheKid link the doc through Google docs or Dropbox each will give you a link and you'd place the link either in an email which is sent after they sign up or it can be added on the Final page as well (the link) . Also remember to test the sign up by adding your email by signing up yourself this will walk you down the process so you see how it works yourself
