    Yet again , Laurel you are amazing! I love how you break Robinson down to manageable goals. I love your created materials like the Arthur S Bailey materials and the lapbook. I feel same way about Mcguffeys ❤️I’m trying to go minimal in homeschool materials and it’s so hard.

      Oh thank you! I know what you mean. I want to be more minimal and streamlined and also I don’t want to feel like I’m missing out on something great for the kids. It’s a good problem to have so many options though.

    Thank you, Laurel, this is so helpful!
    "free read...and have a lovely day!" is just what I'm already doing, but knowing I need to be doing more, so thank you for reassuring me that this is fine, for some days. And as someone new to this with 6-year-olds, I especially appreciate thoughts on adding additional subjects to RC, and guidelines on amount of time for each age.
    Regarding math, in case it's helpful to anyone else, I didn't have the cash for RC flash cards as yet, so in the meantime I've started Milne's First Lessons in Arithmetic, with my two.
    That's working well, and my kids are mostly working each lesson independently, with a small bit of encouragement. It's early days, learning to work quietly, but you could work the lessons aloud, too. It's free, from Google Books, and printable.
    Alphaphonics works well, too; I came across it before I knew of RC, and have been using it along with Elson Readers (also on Google Books).

      thanks for the great suggestions! I've never heard of Elson Readers so I'm definitely going to look those up.

    Can you link your “RC Plus Book list”? You have inspired me to give RC a try but the official booklist seems a little… sparse.

      Oh my goodness! How did it go?

    • @girl4granted
      @girl4granted Рік тому +1

      @landofkakiakahomeschool It went well everyone ( including mom) was more focused on the task at hand. I also took out all our books for the day and although it seemed very daunting looking at all those books at the start of the day. It was so rewarding watching the pile shrink and it was easier for the kids to just grab the next thing.
      We follow a Christian-based Afrikaans curriculum from South Africa, it seems very similar to the RC way of doing things with the main focus being on the 3 R's.
