Guys, you are living legends, and I wish so hard that you can give us something more while you all are here. Please, give a concert - not a tour, just one concert, but live, with you four personally without that silly holograms etc. People love you, not pictures!

Time has told. It's obvious ABBA's music does and will outlive most others and gather momentum.

I only turned on onto ABBA about a year and a half ago. I absolutely love their music and I'm an old rock and roller. Benny and Bjorn are great songwriters with fabulous arrangements , incredible dynamics , superb harmonies , powerful vocals by Agnetha and Frida with the sexiest front- ladies to ever grace a stage. I loved their wonderful and sometimes outrageous costumes and Frida and Agnetha oozed sensuality and were not afraid to show it and did indeed show it fabulously ! They took us on a great and wonderful musical and theatrical journey and their music is obviously standing the test of time. Those negative critics of ABBA are only jealous of their deserved success.

I was born in Bombay India in 1982,and was introduced to this music by my father. He got casettes from middle east, where he used to work. I still listen to those tracks. Amazing music ! And definitely not corny !

I find it quite amusing to see some of the comments here expressing outrage at comments made in a 1993 documentary. I was born in 1960 and was a teenager when Abba were at their height and I was always a big fan.
They were huge in Britain and Britain was quite instrumental in helping turn them into a worldwide phenomena. Being big in Britain got you introduced into former British empire nations such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and many more.
But despite the fact they consistently produced massive hit singles there was always this thing in the air that they weren't quite 'hip' for want of a better term. Sort of staid and not wild like some bands of the period.
Then by the early 1980's when Abba were coming to an end and a new type of music typified by Duran Duran etc came in they were seen as even less hip and sort of old fashioned.
By the time this documentary was made in the early 1990's music had changed even further and Abba were seen as a product of their time and even laughable in some respects.
Look back at any number of stage costumes from the 1970's now and many are considered to be 'horrendous'. Take a look at some David Bowie outfits for an example of that.
It wasn't until into the 2000's when people like myself were entering our 40's and 70's tribute bands began appearing that Abba began to be reassessed and seen in a different light. Probably more respected for their achievements and music now than they ever were at their height.

Funny that so many people comment on them and they all speaks about how bad ABBA were. That´s 30-40 years ago, their music is still alive. At least they were able to engage... Can´t feel anything but sad about this not so excellent documentary..

Not a great documentary. But it did succeed in bringing back the memories. Corny or not, anyone who looks at Benny's or Bjorn's smiles while they are performing can see that they come straight from the heart. They truly enjoyed what they were doing and that's the "secret" of their lasting success.

There is an attempt to make them out as nothing more than a piece of fluff that had a brief period of fame. They wrote corny lyrics, wore bad costumes, and had bad haircuts according to many of the people commentating upon them and their success at the time. Here's the thing though.....you don't sell over 300 million records and counting because you were corny and had bad lyrics and bad haircuts. You sell over 300 million records because you have connected with people in such a way that your songs are timeless. Which is more than I can say for every single one of the people that had awful things to say about them. ABBA is timeless and they didn't stick around for decades making music, slowly declining into irrelevance like other more so-called important bands.

Absolutely true. Besides, which radio station STILL plays 80% or 30% of Elvis Costello’s, Kinks, etc music? All those who criticized their music have not even had a comeback and ABBA built a huge structure in London for their music and was a great success.

It's typical envious British criticism of success stories at the time- bashing something you don't understand because you think yourself superior- referring to the British musicians / critics. They had something otherwise they wouldn't have outlasted so many....

ABBA is just great. I disagree with the blonde woman who said that the costumes were atrocious. They weren't naked or practically naked like today women singers. Besides it was the fashion at the time. Silly comment. I love them and listen to them oftenly. My best wishes to them !

I would disagree on your description as "the rise and fall of ABBA", when they just made a new album a year ago, 2 successful movies based entirely on their music and talk about a third, ongoing musical, imitation bands still performing, having the greatest numbers of old and new UA-cam videos after 47 years (I searched enough to know). They may be grey but are still going strong.

The Bono thing is only forgivable because they were in Sweden. Bono kinda ruined Benny's playing there with his foot in mouth, but what do you expect from a #2? Swedish fans got to see a little Bjorn and Benny, so enduring Bono's douchebaggery is a small price to pay.

ABBA was more important to me than my own parents growing up in my rebellious teenage years, as I could not understand why my parents were not as attractive or as fit.
