  • Yamaha's CD-S300 CD player is built to perform, making your disc collection and MP3/WMA files sound great in your system. It's equipped with a high-quality digital-to-analog converter and can even play files from a front-panel USB input.
    Yamaha CD-S300: www.crutchfiel...
    Yamaha designed the CD-S300 with the intention of minimizing noise and vibrations. The digital and analog sections have isolated power supplies, plus all signal paths are kept as short as possible to minimize interference.
    In addition to your CDs, the CD-S300 can play MP3 and WMA files burned onto a disc, or loaded onto a drive connected to the front-panel USB input. That input also works with iPod, iPhone, and iPad models. When you plug your Apple device into the USB slot, the superior Burr-Brown DAC in the CD-S300 takes over to render your digital files with rich, warm detail.

    So, i have a corrupted CD-R that:
    • On computers and ok. DVD Players it works fine
    • On Sony CD or DVD Players it messes up the time and starts a countdown from -99:59, this starting from track 2
    • On Citroen car stereos, track 1 plays fine, track 2 repeats the first two seconds twice and then gets ejected, track 3 and after don't play at all
    So now i wonder, what would this do if that same disc was loaded in?

      Still sounds great IMO. It does often jump & skip a bit for the first 5 mins or so but after that, it doesn't have any tracking errors at all.
      It has a digital out and I tried a newly-bought DAC, which I'd bought to connect my TV* to an amp, and i couldn't tell any difference from switching between the two other than output volume levels.
      I also have a KX 500 cassette deck, AX 500 amp (as well as a pair of Musical Fidelity Typhoons and The Preamp) and a TX 500 tuner.
      I using a pair of TDL RTL3 speakers and also have a pair of Mordaunt Short MS55 Tis as back up.

      That's an impressive statement about the results of your DAC test!!! Do you have any details on the brand/model of the DAC/DACs that is in the CDX 810? The only details we could find suggests it has 2 DACs but no model listed

      No idea at the moment.
      I will take the lid off it at some point though, although at the moment it has quite a few units on top of it.
      I know back in 1988 it was £300 (UK pounds) which was a massive amount for me as I was 16 then !
      Still, got my money's worth out of it !
      I'll bookmark this and get back to you if/when I find out what the DACs are in it.

    Hallo, what is that player built of and how is the buitl quality? Now the successor is available,
    You said in the video, that you could use a better DA converter. How good is that converter of the yamaha? Are there better one in other appliances, maybe Marantz or denon?
    Greetings from Germany

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  Рік тому

      Hi André, thanks for reaching out. This unit does have an excellent overall design and build. The power supplies for the motor drive, display and USB sections, as well as the digital, and analog sections are individually isolated, eliminating electromagnetic interference among them and Yamaha used ahigh-grade acoustic capacitor, a new low noise/high-gain bandwidth op amp, damping material under the transformer and around the signal cables. The The Yamaha CD-S300 CD player employs a Burr Brown 24-bit/192kHz DAC.

    • @andrer4221
      @andrer4221 Рік тому

      @CRUTCHFIELD hi thank für your respond. I saw the inside of two cd player, yamaha's s303 and Marantz cd6007
      The Marantz is full of electronics while the yamaha just has very less. ... but it's this hugh amount of electronic imputation? And: Why is there a 192khz 24 bit ad converter inside? Cd just has 16 but 44.1 kHz... ok a bit oversampling maybe ... but it's this so important

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  Рік тому

      The build is important for sure and a better DAC does make all the difference as far as dynamic range and S/N ratio go.

      No, this is a CD Player itself, but would not work with an External Hard drive. A Computer would be your best bet, one that integrated into a home audio system. Or you could use one of these to store you music on: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTBc174//p_813VALT2IB/Bluesound-Vault-2i-Black.html
