Will using a nasal dilator stop the nostrils from further collapse due to aging? In my nose in one nostril there is a nodule under the collapse. Is there a medical procedure that corrects the collapse? I love your videos! Thanks you for providing such interesting and helpful information!

    Hi Vik,
I’ve been suffering from nasal polyps for yrs. I use nasal steroids but these sprays give me horrendous anxiety.. I’m not a nervous person but when using the sprays, my anxiety is thrown into overdrive, it wakes me up in the night, it’s stops me falling asleep and it gives me bad headaches. Have you ever heard of this before because my GP does not believe that it’s related to the sprays however, as soon as I stop using them my anxiety returns to normal, within days.

I picked up tinnitus after a particularly loud band at a pub. It didn’t bother me at the time because I had experienced it many times in the past following exposure to loud noise, however this time it didn’t get better after a couple of days. It was pretty hard to deal with. I religiously protected my ears from then on and after 10 years it then began to resolve spontaneously. I guess my point is that as Mr Veer says, it will normally spontaneously resolve, but it may take time , and you would be very unlucky to be stuck with serious tinnitus permanently.

I have Bilateral Vascular Eagles syndrome. I've had surgery on both sides. The left has been completely removed, the right side was just shortened. I have a palpable clicking and catching in the front of my throat, where the Adams apple is, with pain this is on the right side. Feels like I have something in my throat. Camera showed nothing. My question is, can eagles regrow or can cartlidge or soft tissue around the voice box or thyroid calcify. Happy to discuss further. Surgeries were 2012, 2013

These were great questions, and I really appreciate the thoroughness with which you answered each one. You even answered some of mine without me asking. Thank you for making this video. I hope to see more videos like this from you.

I know you are an ENT Dr., but i would like to know if you ever had a patient with to much belching/burping on the daily basis that becomes embarrassing. I am asking because you have mentioned pentoprazole in other videos. I have gone to a gastroenterologist dr for this problem and they even made a empty gastric test with radioactive food and everthings atills seems ok. My problem still remains. Any words of wisdom/advise will be appreciated. Thank you!

Hello vik, firstly thank you for helping so many people,i have sleep apnea. When i was tested, it was revealed i have 65 apneas an hour. My problem is i keep finding it hard to lose weight , i can lose some weight to begin with, then becomes really difficult to lose more, but all i hear from the sleep clinic, is you need to lose weight, i currently weigh 27.5 stone. I've already had a couple of heart attacks, and it is so depressing that no one is listening. It is actually great to listen to someone who understands how i feel. Thank you so much for the time you gave to other people, thankyou

I hope you find a solution and do not lose hope. At age 54 I had my tonsils and adenoids removed. Brutal surgery. While I was very swollen afterward, I had to sleep almost sitting up to keep my airway open. Eventually my airway seemed much wider. If an ENT can look at your airway, see f there is any scar tissue or problems in your throat. If nothing else, elevate your head. Maybe try gargle and spit out Benadryl before sleep to shrink tissue. I wish you the best.

I got my tonsils removed in my mid 20s and they didn’t get rid of my adenoids. I am now having severe sleep disordered breathing and severe sleep apnea and the cpap doesn’t seem to help with my energy levels. I also have Tracheomalacia :( I see a ent soon but do you think it’s a good idea to see a ent.

What impact can a perforated nasal sectum have on Sleep Apnea and its treatment

  • @Randdist
    @Randdist 9 місяців тому

Hi, thanks for that! I'm late but I was wondering, is there anything that works better for stuffed nose than steroids, but isn't as damaging as decongestants? My turbinates swell every single night (and often during the day) and so far decongestants are the only thing that allow me to sleep at all (tried saline sprays and showers; taking nasal steroids every day; - it's worse without; also antihistamines due to IgE > 3000; anti-dust-mite-measures do not help and this also happens outside at any time of the year. Occasionally there are times where I can suddenly breath exceptionally well through the nose, like once or twice a week for an hour or two).
It's still 6 months until my turbinectomy and I'd like to avoid long-term damage from decongestants. I went 1.5 years without decongestants before starting with them, and it was pretty much the worst time in my life so I can't not use them.

In 2021, i had an acoustic neuroma removed from my inner left ear…since that time, I struggle daily with occipital headaches on the RIGHT side of my head (opposite side from surgery). I have had two clear MRIs…any thoughts on what is causing or how to help with these headaches? Thanks!

Hello Dr Veer, For someone who takes Immuno-suppressant drugs. Would the CPAP machine cause a risk to them? Thank you. Would be interested to find out.

  • @dinobambino21

EASE/MSE isn't usually for the purpose of improving the throat, it's for improving nasal breathing. If you look at Kasey Li's data, he's cured a few people but importantly reduced nasal resistance and in turn lowered their required CPAP pressure. He says that the nose is the most resistive element in the upper airway.

I was breathing through my nose very well for 4 years after not breathing through it well for 19 years.
But 22 days ago, I drank water that I had regurgitated some spit into 5 days earlier (Reflux).
I thought I had cleaned the cup, but I realized after drinking it that I hadn't, and I had just drank that dirty, contaminated, spit-filled water.
Three days after drinking the dirty water, my nose became very congested and has stayed congested for the past 22 days.
Do you think the dirty water gave me a bacterial infection in my sinuses?
I don't have yellow or green snot, but I can't figure out how to get my nose open again.
I have never gone 22 days with a stuffy nose before, as usually it will open after 6 - 10 days, if it does get congested.

Super great AMA Dr. Veer! I'm scheduled for an expansion pharyngoplasty by Dr. Brian Rotenburg, super excited about your upcoming video about the procedure. I have complete tongue base, epiglottis, and soft palate collapse despite being a young average BMI average height guy. Sleep studies always said I had mild sleep apnea, around 5-7 AHI. The diagnostic tools of a sleep study just didn't pick up my very severe sleep apnea, I pushed to get a DISE done here once I noticed my fingers had clubbed.

Hi I have a multi nodule goiter. I've had them for quite some time now. They've been checked on scans and I was gold that as there is very little difference in size over the years and the look, size, shape etc hasn't changed much I needn't worry. Can I ask for timely check ups eg 2 yearly as sometimes my throat reacts to what eat causing coughing spasms and sometimes my throat seems to close up in spasms like when you deflate a balloon. I end up coughing all my air out and am unable to draw breath. I can only do very very short gasps and then cough more fluid back into my throat. I actually have to calm myself in short bursts and try to clear my throat by making that uhmmmmm sound and grab a quick breath! So it's totally unpredictable and terrifying and embarrassing for me and who ever is around. Is there a name for this and a better way of getting through these spasms? I know this is a lot to ask but I hope you can help. HAPPY NEW YEAR in advance. 🥂🥳

Vik - thank you for your ENS video. It was truly a delight to see somebody who understands ENS and how devastating of a condition it is.
Question - with your surgery to treat ENS under local anaesthesia, what exactly is involved? Is cartilage used to raise the floor of the nose? After surgery, how do your patients feel? Whats the success rate of achieving “normal” airflow?
All the best Vik and we all appreciate what you do.

Hello Dr.! Thank you for your great contribution for the sleep deprived community. You are helping people in many different ways! I have a quick question, I did my DISE recently and have been told that my tongue is the main reason. They recommended Inspire but I don’t want to take that invasive route for now. Could you please suggest few non invasive alternatives?

Im autistic with sound as number one sensory issue.Told by ent looked perfectly normal and healthy. My allergist said saw retraction pockets. I went to er told fluid in ear. Struggling with eustachian tube dysfunction and distorted hearing since end September. Told by ent had no answers for me he gave up on helping me and told me where door was. He only looked in ear and nose with otoscope for 5 seconds each. My family dosnt believe me about allergies to cat they got or hearing issues. Saw this video today and that you answered my question and a simmer one wanted to cry. I have been struggling so badly with distorted hearing of the softest speech sounds. Where it sounds more like noise or missing or not hearing it. But also onr ear hearing better than the other making it even more confusing. I also saw a video of yours that explained turbinate swelling on opposite side sleep on and that is the ear that is worse. I recently switched to other side for the ear to hopefully drain. Im just really struggling and scared it will never get better. And having doctors give up on you and family not believing you has made it so much harder. I even have a digital otoscope and can see something is wrong. This video has provided more answers than my ent did. And im truly grateful and hoping to get better and nit have this be permanent. So far you and my allergist were the only ones who cared or answered my questions. Im sorry for long message hard to filter and limit more si when upset and struggling which i have been for months since i had had emergency surgery after being misdiagnosed and then respiratory infection ear infections etd tmj and covid on my birthday. All i want is my hearing to go back to normal and hear speech without any issues or difficulties. I just want to go back to normal.

I am using a cpap machine everyday. Sometimes i take it off and don't realise i have. Other times i will take it off knowingly as the pipe attached to the mask starts making noise. Any advice on how to increase usage? On average i will get 4 hrs use and would like this to get to atleast 6 hours every night. Also is there any other way of eliminating use of cpap eg surgery etc. Thank you for all your service Dr Vir

I’m literally on my 4th night of CPAP. I’ve not had any trouble using it the entire night. Don’t get me wrong, having something on your face is not awesome but I’m pushing through. The first night I increased humidity from 4 to 7 and that made a big difference. I’m using the Resmed 30i nasal pillow mask. I can sleep on my back, sides and stomach. Give it a try. I can’t see how anything else could be more comfortable.
