    The sound difference is night and day for me. The American sounds thicker and rounder. Definitely darker and more full. A touch hotter too

    Roadworn sounds woodier, boxier (in a good way) and more organic. American sounds a bit trapped, like trying to grasp some air. That's why it's darker

    I've really liked my Original 50s. I hit the strings hard and my playing naturally sounds very bright, so the tone I get out of it is very different than the dark, beefy sound Shep got in this demo. And the fretboard feels great, I'm playing runs and licks and getting ideas I never did before. I've gotten used to the fat neck.

    May I ask what meterial if the saddle of the road worn? I own one and I'm thinking of replacing the stock saddles with brass ones. But other wise I like the road worn .... you won't be afraid to scratch or ding it since...it already is

    Planning to get a road worn tele in a couple of months because of the relic thing and nitro lacquer. But am much concern about the 7.25 radius. Am quite new to guitar and am wondering if this wont be too hard for me. Unfortunately i cant try it. Any feedback from owners?

    • @chavezunseen
      @chavezunseen 6 років тому +5

      Steeward Presley I too was thinking of getting the blonde roadwear tele from guitar center. However, the road wear comes to $899 with a gig bag, the same tele in a none road worm finish comes with a hard shell case and comes out to the same price of $899. Ask me I’d rather the none relic but I do admit I love the relics character

      There are a lot of people who rail on the 7.25 radius, say that you'll fret out and can't rip on it. Pay no attention to any of that crazy talk, 7.25 is a Great feeling neck. The guitar that I used for years has a 14" radius. I do a lot of big bends and based on what I had read I thought that a 7.25 would never work for me. So glad that I finally tried one, they are incredible. I can make all the bends, play just as fast, and play for days!! Only other bit of advice would be to find a thick, chunky neck. Might feel odd at first but you'll soon adjust and will never go back to thin.

      There's so much rubbish spoken about the 7.25 radius. It didn't worry Jimi or Page or Beck or Clapton etc etc etc. It won't worry you. My favourite radius.

      @@markw5259 YA, unless you have tiny hands a chunkier neck is easier to get around on without cramping and hand pain.

      The Road Worn does have a 7.25 radius but Vintage Tall Frets which really do make a difference. My preference is 9.5 with Medium Jumbo Frets but the RW's 7.25 with Vintage Tall Frets really feel good to me. YMMV

    the american fender sounded nothing like a telecaster, had more of the strat sound. come on fender what you doing over there in Corona Cali? The mexican version obviously has the real tele twang sound.

    Heeyyy just thinking in buying one tele .. but I'm between Baja and Roadworn... Maybe Baja's neck is too thick to me... Any suggestions?? Is there many difference??? Good review by the way!!

      i never thought i´m a tele guy, walked in a local store and grabbed a road worn tele for fun....went home with it. no looking back, and since bought another special edition roadworn tele. it´s my favourite type of guitar now. can´t go wrong with a roadworn. one might consider changing the pickups because of personal taste, but there´s nothing wrong with the stock tex mex ones. i personally prefer the feel of the roadworn to the baja a lot, because of lacquer finish and the neck size. try both, they are really different.

    • @jotalagarta

      @@modestoney1577 Thank you! Because or comentaries like yours, I'm really considering to have a Roadworn.. I'm seeing lots od goood feellings about this model, just not the look but the sound! So it will probably wins the gold medal! Now... wich colour??probably butter.. who knows! Both are awesome

    • @modestoney1577
      @modestoney1577 6 років тому +2

      hey J, if you have the opportunity try both, because in the end it´s all about personal preference. the baja is also cool for sure and you got the out-of-phase option, which is nice, but you can also mod that to any guitar, if that´s what you like. i think the overall feel is most important, especially neck size. it has to feel right in your hands. the baja neck is way fatter. i personally love the neck of the road worn because it´s less chunky and feels better to me, but everybody has different hands and preferences. i do love the nitro finish also, it feels worn in and very comfortable and i like the looks. teles are great, hope you find one you really like!

      I will say that I just played the road worn and loooooooved it. Partially due to how thick the neck was, so maybe try to play one first if you think that could be a problem. But it's great.

    Both, just like every other model Fender makes in these series is inferior to the American Vintage Series. The roadworn at least has a correct vintage radius.

    • @joeguitar75
      @joeguitar75 4 роки тому +3

      ? You know that american original and american vintage is esential the same except for the neck radius?

    • @danielphillipsmusic9145
      @danielphillipsmusic9145 4 роки тому +1

      Joe Guitar yeah, and it completely ruins the playability of the neck. Moreover, from a marketing standpoint it’s pointless. Every US bass has a modern spec neck now. Why would anyone pay an up charge for a feature they can get on a bass model?

  • @glennevans5824
    @glennevans5824 2 роки тому +1

    The American original the finish is hideous compared with the 2012 50’s …American vintage……those the blonde is nice…little tint of color that looks almost “pumpkin” color

  • @dekzan

    I had both, got rid of both. Road Worn has a great neck, but the body is ridiculously thin and out of specs. The American Original has crappy rounded neck edges.
