I'm going to join in the buddy read. I have not read this one but I've enjoyed other books I've read by McCullers.
Currently reading The First Lie Wins and I can’t wait for work to be done to jump back in it! Have a great weekend ladies! Au revoir from Quebec City, the only French province of Canada!! 😉
You two just light up my afternoon!
😻
Happy Friday! I'm reading King: A Life (I technically started it in Black History Month!) and North Woods by Daniel Mason. I do have various other little reading projects but those are the main ones.
Happy Friday bookies! FYI the 3/4/24 New Yorker has a piece about Carson McCullers. I haven’t read it yet. For new books, I’m monitoring the spring prizes, to name a few, Women’s Prize nonfiction and fiction longlists, Walter Scott Prize historical fiction, Carol Shields Prize for fiction from USA & Canadian women & nonbinary writer (this prize had stunning books lady year) and soon the International Booker Prize longlist. I pick a few from each list to read and it’s very fun!
I love these Friday Read videos. I added the Carson McCullers to my Kobo but that is no guarantee I'll get to reading it! I'm also curious about the Dracula story as the cover looks like what I imagined some of the buildings described in The Historian to look like. This weekend I'll be reading "Tales of Burning Love" by Louise Erdrich to catch up with Colleen. And the bookstore here put out copies of Last Woman by Carleigh Baker before her pub date of March 5th (I love when authors don't have embargos!) and so I picked that up on Monday. It's all short stories and I just loved it, five star read!!
Hello! I’m so interested in the Carson McCullers buddy read! I’ll look into getting it. I’m reading Tolkien’s Faith: A Spiritual Biography by Holly Ordway, which I find fascinating so far, as both a fan of hobbits and a person raised Catholic. Happy Friday!!
I'm currently reading "Lovers in Auschwitz" by Keren Blankfeld. It's a true story, very intricately researched and detailed. When I'm finished, I'm planning to read Will Schwalbe's "We Should Not Be Friends", which my husband has really enjoyed since I bought the book (and he took it before I could start it)! The Finlay Donovan books sound fun, I watched all seasons of Dead to Me. I'm curious about the buddy read and may join you and read that novella! Thanks for all of the great book talk, Happy Reading!
I just finished How to Build a Boat by Elaine Feeney and am listening to
North Woods by Daniel Mason
Just finished reading After You'd Gone. Maggie O'Farrell's debut novel. Did not like it as much as her latest two but I was interested to read her starting point. Now listening to Welcome Home, Stranger by Kate Christensen which is sad but excellent on audio. Story of a woman who returns to former home in Maine to spread her mother's ashes and confront all kinds of unfinished business. Have Anna Quindlen's latest After Annie waiting in the wings. Can't wait to dive into it.
I’ve just finished a book I think you’d both like
Stone Yard Devotional by Charolette Wood
Also I’m listening to
Fayne by AnnMarie McDonald
It’s very good

I just found your channel. You are both delightful!
Welcome!! Thank you so much!
