Outside of the switch, people and I have resorted to pirating Adobe apps because of the following:
    1. Living in a third world country where Photoshop was pirated on almost every school and office.
    2. Some bigger business would require you to use Photoshop or other apps or else they will reject you for using non-Adobe apps or if they found out you're using a cracked version. This doesn't happen in smaller business but ymmv.
    3. Some features and plugins can be Adobe specific. I used After Effects as an example for making visuals and trying to learn node based compositing to copy my workflow is such a chore for timing.
Remember what Gabe Newell said? Piracy is a service problem and not the financial problem.

Same here, I think dowloading Krita (free drawing/photo editing software that has some generative AI) on top of affinity photo might be a solution, or simply take out the photo to a dedicated ai website (like leonardo for exemple) specifically for the ai tools and then put it back on ps later might be a solution even tho this workflow is more tedious

Another possibility is Krita with comfy UI. I was experimenting with this making composites and was very surprised at how easy it was to change one element, replace something in the shot or get rid of another element. And that's a free option, using the comfy ui plugin for Krita. Just something to think about.

If Blackmagic improves Davinci Resolve and adds:
    - keyframe graph editor to edit page
    - guides to preview
    - ability to apply effects to adjustment layers
Then Davinci will be a no-brainer best pick. For now, the biggest downside of using davinci for me is the lack of presets and effects you can find opposed to premiere.

There's a learning curve to be sure. But stick with it ... well worth the investment in time for this phenomenal (free) editor. The Studio version is included with the BlackMagic "Speed Editor" keypad/jog wheel hardware for $100 more than just the software; best upgrade value anywhere IMHO.

  • @MarcSpctr

the problem is if you are a freelancer working for small business or clients, it is fine, use anything you want.
But if you are looking for a job or you get a bigger client/business, they would probably require you to use Illustrator or Photoshop.
And if it has printing related stuff, then Coral.
You cannot be the one choosing what you want to use in that case.

      1. Cost savings, *_extreme cost savings._* 2. Ownership vs. Rental: With Adobe, you stop paying, you stop working. With Affinity (and DaVinci) what you have today (free or one-time payment) works on today's hardware, forever. If you're OK paying monthly RENTAL forever to edit your own files ... well, that's your call.
