So I looked up the number 863 and it's an area code in Florida. This got me thinking, a lot of those numbers (the ones I can see anyways) are three digits which means they could all be area codes. So I wonder what would happen if someone took all of the codes and plotted them on a map. It reminds me of once when I was doing an escape room where we put pins on a map and in the end, it spelled a word. So maybe if we did that for all the numbers and their area codes, it would tell us something? Matthias, can you take a picture with all the numbers visible and put it on Instagram or something so we can all over-analyze this? Please like so he can see, thx. (Thank you all for your sweet comments! It makes my day.)

The original key was found in blue then you guys found the file cabinet in orange( i now know it was originally in blue...but still) and now there is stuff in red... ( If you can make sure Matt sees this that would be great comment section.)Update: Tanner just thought the same thing I did... What?
My suggestion about the keys. Because they are all custom keys as in, they have designs like star wars, California state flag ect. I would assume that each key is to a specific persons safe. And since you said that the people who owned the building before you had labs, maybe each key goes to a specific persons safe where they kept record of their research and experiments. Something interesting about those key tags that you may not have known is that people have been known to take that center paper piece out and split it in half then hide something inbetween the two halfs. My suggestion is to go through each key one by one and see if any are hiding QR codes or coordinates to anything.
P.S as someone else mentioned in a different comment, since the keys are custom (star wars, California ect.) Then maybe if you alphabetically sort them by the letters of their designs then it could make coordinates.
it is but i'm watching this and your comment says it was posted 2 months ago but it still says the video was posted 8 months ago soooo i guess youtube is messed up
when I saw those keys they reminded me of the keys that would be used to unlock and lock the lab desk cabinets and lockers at my college, the formatting of the tags is the same system of organization. Usually chemicals and lab equipment is kept in the desks which need to be kept safe and locked up after use. Those could all just be back up keys to those desks, or there was something in some of those desks that someone didn’t want people to know about and hid the keys in the wall, but why wouldn’t the company take those with them, and why do some have prints? My other thought is, that system that we use is the same organization system that some banks use for organizing safety deposit boxes. If someone went to such lengths to hid those keys they must go to something valuable or something someone wants to hide, what better place then a secure and safe bank.
This theory makes sense and so do the other ones like it. But if this was the case why did they find keys in the other bases and have one from another connecting to this.

I say, take the drawers of the desk off (where the kit was found), check for things written on every surface no of the entire desk, and check for false bottoms in drawers. Also, try to see if anything on the desk can be removed, such as the top, a side, or part of the bottom. Not only the desk can be used though, so every wall that wasn't changed, try going and using a stud finder on every wall (yes, EVERY SINGLE WALL) and seeing if something unusual comes up. And regarding the keys, try taking them and comparing them to keys that you have that go to office doors and stuff, then those keys can be eliminated as useful. Any that don't match up to any office keys, set aside and keep track of them. They are likely to be useful. My uncle used to find and collect evidence in crime scenes, and when they have no leads or ideas, they try doing these things. An alternative way to all these things, just see if you can get an expert on it. Or a whole crew that specializes in stuff regarding this whole matter. Also, don't let the situation sit and slowly disappear, please. (Added note: like this so it can be seen!)
You could get a really expensive metal detector that you can set to find specific metals and take it to the walls. Also, get one of those plumbing cameras. The ones that are attached to a long bendy wire and they have lights attached to them. Then look through the walls with it. Idk. I might get a private investigator or file a police report.
The person probably wanted to keep it secure from anyone that why there is so many keys because they wouldn't have so many keys to hide something. Also there was a mini safe with a key that said TS5 which is a desk key. LIKE FOR THEM TO SEE THIS IDEA
Here is my key theory: You said that this used to be a lab, correct? With the key kit, they made personal keys for the employees to use for their research notes in locked areas. The numbers on the keys would be the codes for the locks. Those keys you found are the back-up keys encase something happens to the employees or they need to access it. My guess for the key hunt in the first video would be where they kept the back-up encase something happen to the owner and left it hidden.
My theory: They may lead to a buch of safes, OR they used to be keys belonging to previous workers rooms or something until they quit or got fired, and finally what if in one area or multiple areas, they have a wall of lockers with secrets or belongings of past employees, and when the company disbanded they put them there, leaving behind anything in those safes? O_O ok now i want to make a story about this, like an actual book, if i do just know this video caused it :D Edit: Thanks for the likes 😅☺️
looking at the keys in (34:09) it looks like it may be a color coded system... there are 4 american flag keys, 2 galaxy keys, 3 grey keys, 7 with blue tags, 6 green tags, 4 yellow tags, 5 red tags and 2 white tags. maybe each color represents a different area of the office.
I bet the last owners planned this thing out for you guys. My key theory: The numbers on the keys will lead you to the next safe or locked thing somehow, but only one key works. Ok I just thought of something, it is pretty boring but it makes sense. The directions were in the bottom of a re-keying set right? The keys in the safe are probably just the old keys from locks they had re-keyed. Not very interesting I know. Also while re-watching it to see if there was anything else I missed, I noticed that the QR code at the end was above the others because it had the directions for the second floor, the others were directions for the first floor or the stairs.
Key Theory: figure out who originally owned Blue Base (where the first key was found) and the Red Base extension (where all of these key were), see if it’s the same owner, and see what other buildings they owned in the complex because there could be more hidden clues.
i think it may be color coated to a item like ex: green may be to offices an blue maybe to like desk. and the room you were in was maybe the main office. just an idea
detector, but yes that's exactly what I was thinking, since they don't have a HUGE space in the office, they can easily detect a metal in the walls, BUT they would also detect the railings in the wall...
They could probably just use stud detectors. They could probably even differentiate between studs and metal boxes based on the positioning of where it detects something.
I still love this episode so stinking much. there is something about the beauty of these discoveries that are so innocent. It still makes me so happy to watch these old season 0 episodes.
Could potentially be the case, but at the same time I know a lot of americans use storage units and there are a lot of different storage unit facilities. Finding the right place or even multiple places would take months or even years to find.
Key theory: Because they were doing labs they probably had a lot of excess lab equipment and/or failed projects that they needed to store. I'm guessing some of them go to storage units depending on how big their experiments were. I advise hiring a locksmith before making any assumptions though because they can tell u exactly where the keys go to. I highly doubt that all those go to other safes in Hi 5 Studious because there are simply too many. Like what do the labs or other tenents need to hide? Some Questions to consider: - Why did they hide it in the walls instead of taking it when they moved out? - How are the buildings connected? - What business did all the previous tenants do? - What do you know about the builders?: you could do research on them. I DONT ADVISE GIVING THE EVIDENCE TO THE POLICE UNLESS U SEE SOMETHING FISHY BECAUSE THEY WON'T PRIORITIZE IT thankyou for your time I hope you find a solution! Main points: - hire a locksmith - dont hand it to police yet - who, what, where, why, and how? - research on builders and tenants haha, I think mine is the longest comment cuz I want to help them solve the mystery THANKYOU THO!!!
It happend while the pandemic was spreading in Europe and starting to spread to the US and whole world and it feels like it was atleast a year ago. Maybe 1.5 years ago. We were starting to go into lockdown
This was likely the resident locksmith leaving himself or a future locksmith a note. The numbers on the locks might not correspond to anything the previous tenant was aware of. You may find a 3 digit number stamped on the faces of locks throughout the building. Potentially ones you already have keys to.
@DDX5 Development But why would you put keys to cabinets behind a sealed wall. You'd put them in a safe or just a drawer, Not inside a lockbox then inside the wall unless you're hiding something or, what my guess is, a little puzzle to find the keys to then create locks for them using the lock kit.
KEY THEORY: As Matt said, this place used to be a place filled with labs from their experiments. Maybe the keys were to all the different lab doors. That may be why they are all numbered and some are hand written and others not. This could possibly not be the right answer at all but its an idea
That’s a good idea but in the earlier videos when they first found the keys the 863 was a code for a safe so this has to be more thought out than just lab numbers. This is so confusing!!
A good tip is to search up past owners of the buildings you have because it seem that blue base and red base had the same owner. That way you can see what other buildings they had and maybe se what type of business they owned. (I saw this in another comment but they might go to some sort of storage unit!) Hope you find everything!
They probably go to either somewhere else in the new space, or they could go to places in the spaces of the building yall don't own, or. Now this is a big or, they could be coordinates. Last guess right here, they could be storage units.
Is it just me or does Kevin start acting really suspicious when he’s asked about the keys? Like, out of all of them he’s the most sober about it. And he’s been there through all of it. AND Kevin didn’t really want them to break walls.
The previous owner seems to have been a locksmith. He seems to even build/repair individual locks. What I think those keys you found at the end are a bunch of what I think were called template keys. I used to work in a key cutting shop years ago, you would take a blank key (a flat one that hasn't been cut yet) and a template key, place them both in a machine, and basically duplicate the template key for which ever lock you need it for. Its good for making spare keys and replacing ones that broke. Those codes on the keys I would bet are a code to specific locks, not necessarily one in the various bases, but for ones that the locksmith worked on, whether fixing or building from scratch. I'd bet they had a series of locks with three digit codes on each as well to match the keys to. They might have built the locks themselves which is why they made it so difficult to find the keys with the QR code into Binary code into English. Because if someone else found them, they could duplicate the locks.
The desk probably belong to building maintenance and they used it to rekey offices throughout the building and those are either templates OR keys to the different offices they had cut. It's very likely there were master keys too that let them in whichever doors they wanted and they kept these are backups for the various office folk. I don't think the previous company cut keys as their business.
Key theory: There’s another safe some where maybe even with more keys. In the keys you found only one of those go to the safe and all the others are just to confuse you. My suggestion get a thermal gun and search the walls for more safes
In most cases the key number will be stamped on the front of the lock next to where the key enters. In some cases the number may also be stamped on the original key. So if you write down all the numbers on the keys and go around each base (as much effort as this is) and look at each lock to see if any if the keys match. Just an idea 🤷♀️hope you guys figure it out soon ❤
Ideas that can probably help: 1) Ask Izzy/Israel 2) Use a metal detector at the walls 3) try these keys on the hi5 bases doors and see if they work on a specific door and then maybe search that room Edit(s): 4) Get a locksmith that can probably help y'all out Reply with more ideas that I can edit in this comment so Matt can see!
They could be for employee lockers/safes/locked desks. You should research what types of locks they go in and test locks around the buildings. Also I would call the prior owners and ask them about the original key and if they had left anything at any base.
@@Tableuraz ... XD I honestly did not think of that... Now all I can think about it is Hi-5 Studios walls being riddled with holes as the crew uncover un obscene number of nails in their pursuit of a safe's in the walls... Or electrical boxes. Then again I think there are metal detectors that have a way for you to discern how big the object is so maybe still an option? Wanna know what the real kicker would be though? Wooden boxes.
This gave me major “The Office” vibes, Matt being Michael Scott, Sam is Pam, Connor is Dwight, Tanner is Jim, Hannah is Erin, Woods is Andy, Amanda is Jan
Key Theory: These are all back up keys for the locks they were making with the shlage kit... It was probably a lock maker that needed a back and those were all numbered to match a master file of all the keys they've made.
Key mystery ideas: When looking at a multi part puzzle, look at the similarities and the differences of the objects (keys in this case) and see if anything forms a pattern. Numbers on the tags, color of tags, colors of the keys, special keys (like the star wars one) Sort them and order them in the different ways that makes sense and see if anything else makes sense after that. Does the design on the keys form anything if you take the first letter (S for star wars, C for California) and sort them by color/number/etc? Compare the bitting on the keys to see if there are duplicates, or if they are part of a system set. Look at hidden places, like behind the paper and on the back side of the paper on the tags. Does the amount of keys correspond to the number of hangers in the key box? Use it as a template by hanging the keys in the different orders mentioned above, and see if anything new appears. And the most obvious, try them in all the locks in the building ;-) Time for a little Easter egg hunt ;-) Good luck and stay safe.
I remember a long time ago in someone's office, the office was just a square and one of the had in the bottom left corner it created a mini square (birds eye view). What of there is something inside the wall I hope I helped
Okay, so I'm now freaking out and also thinking that if I were to make a building like this, I would totally do the same thing. Here are some things you could try: look through all the ceilings, like where you found the first thing. Double check everything else that came with the building, maybe there are more hidden bottoms. Use a metal detector on all the floors and walls. Might not work amazingly because of studs and the other things that come in walls, but it would be worth a shot. Maybe ask around at the other buildings in your area to see if they've found anything weird as well. Hopefully this helps, and stay safe. If things get bad, call the authorities.
Im rewatching the whole key thing right now and I literally remember all of the videos coming out on this channel. I can't believe its been going on for years
It’s like that episode of the office where Jim created a random scavenger hunt for Dwight as a joke, forgot about, and then when it came up he couldn’t remember if he actually hid anything or not, but it just turns out that one of the warehouse workers had already found it and had been using it.... maybe someone already found the thing you think your on the verge of finding... 😂
yeah.. or those keys are the copy/original keys that the 'keymaker' or whoever working with that door re-keying kit that they found.. and that keymaker kept a copy or those are the original ones each time he/she had a customer? idk
Key Theory: They could be keys to a Storage Facility (lockers) In the area because Those numbers could be the numbers of each Locker. Or its only a few Lockers with many safes or lock boxes inside
XBTC Official I think your storage facility theory seems the most reasonable/plausible...because of course they would need to keep copies of each storage locker safe. Maybe the owner of the building also owns a storage facility. Good idea XBTC
Like this so they see Give a key to each Hi5 member a key and let them try as many locks as possible. The studio, surrounding areas and other spaces. It could go anywhere.
My Guess: The keys are either just to different offices around you complex, or to lockboxes and/or mailboxes around the complex. The numbers definitely have some significance, so you could try to match them up with other numbers around your units. You could also try and match the keys up with others you see,or take them to a locksmith and try to have him guess what type of object they are for.
Hey Matt I've found something interesting so there's a book called the dead key where similar events happened, some one was investigating a bank where there were hidden rooms and keys going to different lock boxes with objects still in them, this is a random thought just thought of how similar the events are
Theory on keys: those seem like house keys. Like the vader key. Were they keeping peoples house keys for a darker reason? 10 A is an APT number. Or a storage shed.
Right! I had the same thought, they all look personal and different. The original unit keys would all be the same..... This is worrying and so intriguing
Here's something to do: 1: The place where u found the safe stand there and do the opposite of the directions and see if something is there..... P.s Please pick mine
@@donottouch8813 I misunderstood. I Thought this person said to go in the opposite direction from where they found the keying kit. I misread. That being said, it really would just put you back to where you started
KEY THEORY: At this point the best thing to do that I can think of is one if there is a way to scan the insides of the walls of all the bases do that and see if you can find anything else. If that doesn't work then see ofif you can get in contact with the previous owner of the complex and ask them about all this. And if all that fails just have like a week or two of just your entire team searching all the bases and have people check the ceiling and walls so see if anything else pops up. The ones that are attached to a long bendy wire and they have lights attached to them. Then look through the walls with it. Idk. I might get a private investigator or file a police report.

Here is my key theory:
You said that this used to be a lab, correct?
With the key kit, they made personal keys for the employees to use for their research notes in locked areas. The numbers on the keys would be the codes for the locks. Those keys you found are the back-up keys encase something happens to the employees or they need to access it.
My guess for the key hunt in the first video would be where they kept the back-up encase something happen to the owner and left it hidden.
it was never a lab.. ooof
The kit wasn’t to make keys it was to change locks

I bet the last owners planned this thing out for you guys. My key theory: The numbers on the keys will lead you to the next safe or locked thing somehow, but only one key works.
Ok I just thought of something, it is pretty boring but it makes sense. The directions were in the bottom of a re-keying set right? The keys in the safe are probably just the old keys from locks they had re-keyed. Not very interesting I know. Also while re-watching it to see if there was anything else I missed, I noticed that the QR code at the end was above the others because it had the directions for the second floor, the others were directions for the first floor or the stairs.
My thought: the keys are to lockers/mailboxes. That’s why each one has a different number on it, it’s the locker number.
I thought so too at a post office

They could probably just use stud detectors. They could probably even differentiate between studs and metal boxes based on the positioning of where it detects something.

Some Questions to consider:
- Why did they hide it in the walls instead of taking it when they moved out?
- How are the buildings connected?
- What business did all the previous tenants do?
- What do you know about the builders?: you could do research on them.
I DONT ADVISE GIVING THE EVIDENCE TO THE POLICE UNLESS U SEE SOMETHING FISHY BECAUSE THEY WON'T PRIORITIZE IT
thankyou for your time I hope you find a solution!
Main points:
- hire a locksmith
- dont hand it to police yet
- who, what, where, why, and how?
- research on builders and tenants

A good tip is to search up past owners of the buildings you have because it seem that blue base and red base had the same owner.

Maybe a metal detector then
@@reece2521 A metal detector wouldn't work because everything in the wall that is magnetic like wires and nails, would go off.
The way Matt switches to clips of him talking reminds me of the office 🤣🤣
In most cases the key number will be stamped on the front of the lock next to where the key enters. In some cases the number may also be stamped on the original key. So if you write down all the numbers on the keys and go around each base (as much effort as this is) and look at each lock to see if any if the keys match. Just an idea 🤷♀️hope you guys figure it out soon ❤
Ideas that can probably help:
1) Ask Izzy/Israel
2) Use a metal detector at the walls
3) try these keys on the hi5 bases doors and see if they work on a specific door and then maybe search that room

4) Get a locksmith that can probably help y'all out

They could be for employee lockers/safes/locked desks. You should research what types of locks they go in and test locks around the buildings. Also I would call the prior owners and ask them about the original key and if they had left anything at any base.

Key Theory: These are all back up keys for the locks they were making with the shlage kit... It was probably a lock maker that needed a back and those were all numbered to match a master file of all the keys they've made.
But why put it in the wall? Master set so it wouldn't get lost no matter what?
Thats not random numbers 1 and 0 is binary code
Key mystery ideas:
When looking at a multi part puzzle, look at the similarities and the differences of the objects (keys in this case) and see if anything forms a pattern.
Numbers on the tags, color of tags, colors of the keys, special keys (like the star wars one)
Sort them and order them in the different ways that makes sense and see if anything else makes sense after that.
And the most obvious, try them in all the locks in the building ;-)
Time for a little Easter egg hunt ;-)
Good luck and stay safe.
