    The pricing of Nvidia's current generation of graphics cards has gotten WAY out of hand but no amount of complaining about it is going to change that and you're here to see how the 4070ti performs in VR, not to listen to me whine about how expensive it is. Running games in virtual reality requires some pretty powerful hardware and the RTX 4070ti is a pretty powerful GPU. Just how powerful? Well in this video we take a look at it's performance in 11 different VR games to see what kind of resolution, refresh rate and graphical detail settings it can handle. 90Hz? 120Hz? Max Settings? Spoiler Alert... yes it can.

    I may have only got an RTX3060 some 15 months ago but this review has allowed me to see the performance **I** would gain in VR for the titles that I actually have, namely MSFS and Lone Echo 2 among many others. I built this PC in 2021 based around the R9 3900X and 32GB RAM which are specs comparable with what you used here. As such I'll be ordering an RTX4070 (due to budget restrictions) soon, the 3060 was an improvement over the GTX980 I was using up until last year but it hasn't been able to deliver in most of my VR titles such as MSFS, DCS, IL-2 and X-Plane which are what I built it for. So thanks for such an informative review and indicating what settings you were using, it's been most helpful 😉😊

    Great video as always! Thank you for finally covering the 4070 Ti, your VR benchmarks are always my go-to when I think of upgrading my GPU. If anything though, I would like to see you run the games at the highest resolution in the Oculus app at 5408x2736 which according to Meta delivers full native resolution in the screens of the Quest, instead of upscaling in-game. Just a thought. Great vid and look forward to more in the future!

    Love your reviews, can you do 4070 review next? Im planning buy one next month, I'm still not sure if I get a 3070 ti (580€) or 4070 (659€) prices in my country and I'm interested in vr performance because my 1660 ti doesn't do much in vr.
    Thanks. Keep up the good work.

    Hi @Maraksot78, thanks for the review! Quick question, besides the settings are not the same in both videos, Flight Simulator seems to run a LOT better then in your 3080ti review. Can you please confirm that? Many people in the VR community, myself included, are trying to figure out if a new 4070ti and 4070 are worth the shot compared to buying used 3090/3080ti/3080 for SimRacing and Flight Sim. I am coming from a 3070, which struggles with a Reverb G2.

      I've thought about that but I'm not quite sure how I'd go about that, which is why I do my videos the way I do and show the maximum settings you can use and still get playable performance. I'm sure if I looked into it more I might be able to find something to give me better analytics, but using the tools I use now I don't exactly get solid average numbers which is why I show the performance in live game play. Because of the way VR works your max frame rate is locked at 90, 120 or whatever so you don't exactly get the, "the 4070ti can do 250fps or whatever in this game or that game" to give easy to digest comparison information. I am hoping some day in the not too distant future I'm able to figure something out though because I know that kind of information is really helpful. It's nice to be able to go to one place and see how they all stack up against each other rather than having to sift through a handful of different videos. 🙂

      @@Maraksot78 maybe something like a table for the different GPUs and then "playable" with 90/120/144 hz yes/yes/no and avg performance headroom would be a good start and for the 7900xtx we need another column for stutters yes/no :D

      @@Maraksot78 Look into the FCAT VR tool that some reviewers use, I've seen that with it they can know what's the maximum FPS a card can get, it's developed by NVIDIA so it might be pretty biased lol and it hasn't been updated in a while but as far as I know it still works with Oculus headsets. Of course it sounds like a hassle so I totally understand if you don't want to do any of that stuff, your videos are perfectly serviceable as they are.

    • @Maraksot78
      @Maraksot78  11 місяців тому

      I don't think Pavlov is on the Oculus PC store. There is a stand alone Quest version called Pavlov Shack and it's free in the app lab. You can buy Breachers in the Oculus/Rift store or on Steam. If you buy it from Oculus it is cross buy, so if you buy it for Quest you get the PC version as well. Pavlov I believe you have to buy on Steam but as of their last update you don't want to run Pavlov in Steam VR if you have an Oculus/Meta headset. For whatever reason game performance when running it in Steam VR is horrible. You just need to make sure the Oculus XR runtime is set as the default XR runtime in the Oculus PC app on your PC and then once you've connected to Oculus Link or AirLink you just launch Pavlov from your Steam library and you're good to go.

      You can probably work around this by using virtual desktop to launch the steam version of the game. That way you're not using the oculus runtime and it can't conflict with the steam one. At least that's how I solved it for Skyrim VR.
      When playing pc vr with the quest I highly recommend using virtual desktop over air link since it not only removes the potential conflict, it also gives you more control over the stream so you can squeeze a little extra performance out of the game.

But I do want/need to get on these new cards. I love playing around with them and I know there's a lot of people curious about their VR performance, which oddly enough, no one else on UA-cam is really testing, but I guess that's good for me eh? 😅

      I finally looked at some reviews for the 4070 Super and the 4070ti Super and based off the flat screen reviews and my experience testing GPU's in VR, the VR performance is going to scale pretty similarly. The 4070ti Super is just a shaved down 4080 BTW, they're based on the same GPU; Nvidia's AD 103. The 4070ti Super is going to perform better than the 4070ti did in this video in VR, but will still be below the performance of the 4080. In my opinion both the 4070ti and the 4080 are beastly GPU's so the 4070ti Super is going to be another GPU to add to that list.

      I don't know. It's not supposed to launch until the 31st, but looking at the 4070 Super and 4070ti Super reviews, I imagine it's going to be a little more powerful than the 4080. I'm not sure if/when I'll be taking a look at one though. Contrary to popular belief I don't get graphics cards sent to me for free. I don't have any affiliation with any graphics card manufacturers, so I buy all the GPU's I review. Which, as you can imagine, gets very expensive. Also, it's sometimes difficult to get brand new GPU's, especially popular ones, at launch. So depending on availability, it may be a while before I can get my hands on one and see how it performs.

I pointed out some stuttering I experienced in that video as well which I thought may have been a driver issue but I've since learned it may not have been the driver but possibly something to do with the AMD ReLive recording settings. • @Maraksot78
      @Maraksot78  Рік тому +1

      I don't think the prices are still inflated because of crypto mining, my understanding is crypto mining, for the time being anyway, is all but dead. My understanding is Nvidia and their investors really liked the record profits they recorded during the pandemic because demand was so high they could charge pretty much whatever they wanted and people would pay it. Now that demand has slowed they don't want to see those profit margins decrease; so Nvidia, by their own admission, has limited the supply in order to keep the prices inflated. I kid you not, during an earnings call with investors (yes, I've heard the actual audio of this call) Jensen Huang, Nvidia's CEO, said they had a ton of inventory but were not going to reduce pricing in order to move it. He straight up said they were going to reduce the amount of chips they ship out to prevent over supply and allow pricing to remain more or less the same. So yah, prices are crazy because Nvidia knows they're the top dog and people will pay whatever they're asking to get a GeForce GPU. AMD makes good GPU's but Nvidia is just better. And because Nvidia has jacked their prices up, AMD has sorta kinda followed suit. They're not gouging customers quite like Nvidia is but their current gen stuff is pretty spendy too.

    Hello, first of all thank you for your VR hardware reviews which are now a rarity, especially for this card. But personally the tests you've done are not 100% useful to understand how this card compares to another, which is in my opinion the most important thing. I also tried to compare your other videos but you often use different settings that confuse more than help. It would be much better to compare portions of the game that are always the same, perhaps using a program that can record the average frametime, such as fpsVR for example. In % how much better or worse is this card in VR compared to for example a 3080ti/3090 which is the target of this card in flat games? Honestly, your tests don't tell much. Don't take this comment as a criticism but as a constructive message. Thanks and congratulations again.

      I totally get what you mean. I've thought about doing something along those lines, comparing different GPU's to one another, but I just wasn't sure what the best way to go about that would be since running VR works a bit differently than flat games. It's for that reason I make my videos the way I do, where I show how high of settings you can use and still get playable performance. I'll have to look into that fpsVR you mentioned and see if it might be useful for doing comparisons. I'd of course need to test specific areas in games and use the same settings every time, but yah. Thanks for checking out the video and for your constructive comment. 🙂👍
