Having circumnavigated the big blue marble more than a couple of times in 25 years on a boat of one type or another I have found that one must set sail periodically if for no other reason than to give ones liver a break.
You two are pretty awesome. Im definitely inspired. I've been following your journey for a minute. Thank you. I'd much rather see this than the news. Makes me feel like the world isn't as bad as they say it is.
Hi Ruth & Garret, it was during this video time period when Garrett was helping Calico Skies and their episode started my introduction & Journey in binging your videos, and for that I’m forever great full to them! You two are awesome and I’m looking forward to catching up and sticking with you! 👍🏼
Hi Ruth & Garrett, I have followed you for a long time and will continue to follow you wherever you go. Love you two & your boat & your vids are awesome (sound is always good) Find hard to see remarks someone abandoning you, no way here and I look forward to see where you go from here. I wish I could be a patron but it is getting seriously expensive here in Canada & I live on only what the Government pension fund gives but am still subscribed & will follow you around the globe! I get to see all this through you all on these boating programs (I follow Clallico & several others) and get to enjoy the world through all the Peoples eyes. The excitement comes from seeing you all experiencing your travels & your reactions. So see you soon Cdn. Dave
Its great to see you guys immersed in and loving the lifestyle. You worked hard to get here , looks like some folks need to remember that. Thanks for sharing, Looking forward to whatever comes next.
Thank you both for continuing to share your journey through this platform. Your channel got me through the pandemic of 2020 and I’ve watched you faithfully since then. You both are so creative and ready to share what you have learned, your honesty when things get tough, and you share what you know with others and seek out new things to explore. These are treasured human qualities to few are hesitant to apply. Sail On Rediviva! and Hold Fast Garret and Ruth!!!
You all are a perfect match with Calico skies❤ happy to see you all hanging out and seeing all together in your concert. Ty for your inspiration and hope to cross paths out there someday ❤❤❤
Whatever you choose to do as a next step I have no doubt that you’ll put your own unique mark on it, which is the right way. Sail on and do what makes both your hearts sing. Thanks for being you and letting this impecunious and now old sailor keep his own heart full through your shared experiences. Be safe, R. 😎👍🍻
With no skin in the game, but enjoying your adventure, go somewhere! Staying there is like staying in Napa. Let's see what Rediviva can do on the open sea. The world is your oyster!
Looks like you guys had a blast....so now that most have bugged out, its time to decide what lies ahead for you....one good thing with everyone goen, you can dry out from the partying...lol. and also get the boatwork done thats been put on hold
Ruth I love your storytelling skills, authenticity, and how you share your introspective thoughts…it’s what makes you guys my favorite sailing channel! 💙
Yep, I have been following from the beginning, but I’m just a barnacle on the bottom of the boat. Only the “patrons” get to see you new video on your future ideas. Did not think it’s only about the money.
It's not "only about the money," but you can't live anywhere without it. I don't mind chipping in to support a lifestyle I once dreamed of before taking the road more traveled. These videos allow me to live that dream through them.
Our videos will always be free on UA-cam. When we decide our trajectory with more certainty everyone will know but as far as a discussion about possibilities and thoughts the whole world doesn't need to watch. This is a job for us and also our life but we of all people know financial struggles therefore we will never charge for an episode. Hope you understand my point 🥰 R
Perhaps the best video you have release to date! You have grown so much as videographers that it is hard to articulate. I can''t wait to hear your choices. No matter what I'll be watching until that time that I actually cut my lines and actually follow you!
Hi guys, wow what a beautiful place I could imagine it’ll be so easy just to settle in and stay there , but I can’t imagine the wind is calling you to move on. Keep up the good work always love the videos Cliff from Australia
I know what is next. There was a hint on another channel so I already figured it out. Marquesas, Fatu Hiva and Tahiti. I will be watching and I wish you the best.
I would hire Ruth to narrate National Geographic. It's what keeps your channel a step above the rest. We vacationed in Mismaloya, across the bay, in the 90's. Noted for filming Predator in the local jungle. You can hike to see the helicopter from the old movie set. And Night of the Iguana was filmed at the beach area in the 60's starring Richard Burton. He and Elizabeth Taylor had a house there as well that you could tour. Grab Garrett's brother and set a course for the land that Fletcher Christian fell in love with. Cheers!
It’s interesting to see you guys go from drinking too much (by your own estimation) to celebrating how great it feels to go dry for a while, to drinking non-stop from morning to night. Obviously a continuing issue. Stay well. We all hope for the best wherever you go.
Well, everything seems pretty inexpensive except, I'm sure, the Marina. Those out anchored are extreme roll experts by now. I have seen things you can do but the need space and other considerations. Your boat could handle the crossing very well. Might take at least 30 maybe 45 days. Will be great to hear your plans. I know of people who are just aching to get back to Fiji ect from New Zealand, now is the time to be in Fiji or French Polynesia.
I have to admit I have a house to build after that may be all be building a plain . you have me considering a boat not as nice as you have done. Still sea worthy. I don't expect to be leaving this life any time soon. God willing I might have some fun.
I'd love to "not know what I'm doing" ...seems that now as I approach 60yo this year, all my plans and work/to-do-list have piled up to where I always know what I should or have to do yesterday/now/tomorrow and I'll never be done and free ...hopefully after I turn 60yo I'll let go of it all, and wake up one day with nothing to do so I can make something new and fresh happen - just make something up or nothing and just pet the dog
We don't but lots do. Rediviva is pretty nice, her chine hull kinda acts like one but it can still get ridiculous haha You can see the blue hulled boat, Saoirse, has one deployed R
I have that horrible feeling too... It took them like 40 damn years to builld the one they are in, and they said in this video... oh look you have Air Conditioning,, oh look, you have showers, oh look, you can secure your dingy,, oh look, they do maintenance on their boat, and we have trouble doing that.
Cruisin n boozin can become habitual for many, I never liked rum but drunk far too much of the stuff in the West Indies. There are many alcoholics out there......
Imagine you were as young as these two and able to break loose and sail away. If it takes patrons to keep going and live an extraordinary life so be it. Stop the hate loser
La Cruz is fun, it’s the last haul out I did before selling Pearl. I’m expecting a video from you guys about my other place… the upper waterfall in Yulapa. (A super rolley and deep anchorage, but worth it! Bandaras bay is the furthest south I sailed Pearl, she’s in Nuevo Vallarta now.
If you pay attention, everyone who says cross the pacific doesn't know that the USA just had bilateral talks with phillippines and Japan in order to send them more weapons, and China said that the USA was trying to start a war by meeting with Phillippines and Japan. Things are not good in the pacific right now
Definitely! It would be on the route we'd probably loop around up to Alaska but Hawaii is not super friendly to cruisers oddly and unfortunately. Would love to chat with someone that's recently done it R
Not our point at all! When we know our direction more definitively everyone will know. Our episodes will always be free on UA-cam. The PatronOnly will be a lot of talk most will find boring. It's only a preliminary informing of ideas R
So you party all night long and now wants patrons to pay the bill. Not a stupid concept. I have seen other youtube party boats try the same concept, but I can’t remember their names. Wonder why I can’t remember? Perhaps patrons didn’t pay the bill.

Ultimate bittersweet meeting people, making close friends and, having to say so long. Tough ! I watch a dozen sailing channels, including the friends you had there. I am a patreon to a couple of channels who have 10% of the subscribers as you; they have returned home a couple times, to work and make money to keep their dreams alive. I really like your channel; you two are so real and the value of your video and adventure is inspiring ! Thank you so much for the work you do to video, to edit and, for sharing. The South Pacific is not cheap to do as your friends remarked in their pre-departure videos. You will find your way and I'm pretty sure subscribers and patreons will be with you wherever you go and whatever decisions you make. You've busted your butts building your boat. You should be able to enjoy it in the adventures you seek. Be safe and happy sailing.....
Thank You for a Great video. And who knows, maybe I will see 👀 your sails on the Horizon from our lanai someday. So until next time ⏲️, Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii!
Great video - La Cruz - The hangover capital of Mexico! Keep having fun guys. I know you miss your friends (for now). There is always tomorrow. There can always be new friends to add to the list. Keep safe. See you next week.
Look like you guys had a totally amazing time, I'm sure you will decide on the best for you as to what the next chapter of your life will bring. Stay safe and God bless
Hiva Oa, Fatu Hiva. It will change everything about who you think you are, all of your priorities, wishes, dreams, ambitions, they all fall away. I literally cried for days, such beauty.

You guys are amazing! May the four winds blow you safely home!
South Pacific seems plausible. I'm sure Ben and Allie would welcome your company during their crossing. Love You All.

Another very groovy episode. You guys sure like to party.
Hawaii is nice, go for it.
Actually, Hawaii sucks on a boat. They really don’t care for sailboats there.
Take a look at James's experiences on Sailing Tritaia ... solo on an old Pearson 35 and then across the Pacific to NZ and Australia.
