This is a teaser from True Fire. Each lesson has three vantage points: wide, left hand, right hand. And there is also a full performance (which is really the wide shot). After you view the performance, he goes back over the piece and breaks it all down position by position and shows you what he is doing....slowly. Worth every penny.
they should add a tab on screen anyway, because some footage is confusing, like this. When he modulates and changes key, after the f chord the bass line is c-d-g-d but if you don t pay attention and you don t have enough ear you can t really tell, because the fingering he uses to play the chord is tricky and you don t really see the middle finger roll fron a string to another
A friend dedicated this to me. Made me cry. And though there's No lyrics, I could hear the lyrics in my head. It said "You are fine just the way you are. Whether near or far. Near or far. Near or here. Don't change for me. Don't change for anybody Cause you are fine the way you are. Hold yourself up high cause you're a star. And shout out to the world that 'I am beautiful!'"
What a wonderful song and a fantastic human being. You can really see that he puts his heart and soul into playing and it resonates with me a lot. Nothing but thanks and appreciation for Tommy. Thank you TrueFire for sharing.
1:56, still in C major (I think of that as a C/G chord) Then 4 chords and go back to the melody at 1:09 I think the chords are 2X221X X342X0 X2424X X6447X The last two are just B7 and B/Eb
He makes this song look so easy. Im a good player but theres something about the shapes in this songs main melody that make it very tricky to do smoothly. Bravo Tommy... again
your fingerings are insane, playing the g on the fifth string at the tenth fret is very difficult, i challennged myself to do it because you do it that way, but playing it with the index is way easier in my opinion, and lets you play the rest of the g minor7 as well
The fact that you can see and hear everything that he's doing. People used to have to figure this all out by ear, and would have killed for footage like this. You get it for free.
Thank you!!! It shows one of his courses is only 30 bucks. Have you taken any of his courses?? What did you think about it, if you did? Thanks again for responding to my naive little comment. =)
+JacobCollins123 They are excellent! I would not recommend them if you are new to guitar or fingerestyle however. The lessons are meant for people who have basic boom chick fignerstyle skills
Thanks for the quick reply. I learned about the first minute of mr. Sandman and then there is this wicked chord where the thumb plays two strings at once and... Well it's definitely a difficult chord! I think these are probably exactly what I've been looking for. I've talked to about 5 different teachers in my area and each one of them has been big headed or less than what they claim. A lesson from a master will be a humbling, growing experience that I've been searching for for a long time.
Haha. It's an excerpt from a TrueFire lesson; they post the full song on UA-cam to make you want to learn it, but you have to actually purchase the lesson from TrueFire to see the whole instruction that Tommy gives. I think this is just the conclusion part where he shows you everything you've learned throughout the course of the lesson. :) I don't know how effective the TrueFire lessons are, since I've never bought one before, but I suppose it depends on the instructor too. I've been thinking about giving the Tommy one a shot though... still debating.
Reamus Im learning this song at the moment, The channel name GuitarLessonMD has 3 good lessons from tommy, one of them being to b or not to b, where you see his guitar from 3 different angles, He explaines it pretty well, but sometimes i have to review it again and again just to figure some parts out, but worth it =)

Awesome! I'm IN!!! Thanks for the honest feedback!

What a great guitarplayer Tommy is. Wonderful!
Just 30 second and I started smiling. A gifted player gives you this, simple as that...

This is the best I've ever heard him play, incredible!
9 years playing this song, still a very hard song to play. TE make it looks easy.
Such a, clear recording wow
He makes this song look so easy. Im a good player but theres something about the shapes in this songs main melody that make it very tricky to do smoothly. Bravo Tommy... again
Thank you Tommy. Another amazing performance
It's cool how he came down back to B after the key change so sneakily, he's awesome
Simply beautiful!! Thanks for sharing
divine melody

What the fuck do you say at 1:31 lmao, funniest thing
i wish i can meet u mr.tommy
This reminds me so much of one of the Mario themes.
@1:31 to C or not to C
uauuuu :) tommy number one
Warning, you do not get the tab even in 2022 when you buy this course
"and here, i'm gonna have the key change" :-)
My God!.
Badass! Great stuff!! Can you make it a little more soulful? J/K....Oh and 1st!!!!
how and when did he change it back to B???????
What exactly about this is a lesson? The fact we're watching him play?
The fact that you can see and hear everything that he's doing. People used to have to figure this all out by ear, and would have killed for footage like this. You get it for free.
its actually a part of a bigger project. the full lesson is not on youtube. it used to be on truefire's website, but it got taken down..
If this is a teaser (so to speak) then it should say that (but that’s my opinion). This is misleading according to the title.
Peace ,,,,
'Lesson'. I wonder how much he charges for a real breakdown of his music... It'd be worth every penny
+JacobCollins123 He doesn't charge... TrueFire does.

+JacobCollins123 actually true fire uploaded this lesson for free. look on their channel for it

Amazing, but how is this a lesson?

Thorsteinn johns Cool, thanks! And good luck!
Key change...
@Monet Silvestre i see what you did there :) haha
Is it just me or at 1:30 "I don't have to teach anything" XD
Flexabust bergson First I was like... "Lets see..."
And then.. "Oh my...." xD
Flexabust bergson No. He said, "And now we're going to have a key change."
After all is said and done, he doesn't really need to teach anyway since he keeps blowing minds on the stage hahahahaa
God he's irritatingly good.
manajfdsja key change
wtf
Punny : )
