Fatip has a new razor , been out for over a year. This one’s called IL GROSSO / the wide one Has closed top cap ,no exposed bldr end tabs . Bigger pins. Longer handle. Great video.
Your Hoffritz is identical to my Pomco. If I didn't know mine was in the bathroom, I would have thought you broke in and took it for this video. Apparently, from what little research I did, I found on Badger and Blade forum that the design was licensed to several companies in the 1960 era. I appreciate your comments on the FaTip. I was looking at getting one, but I do not want have to fidget with the blade that much. I was really looking forward to a slant open comb. Oh well, I guess it wasn't meant to be. Great video. I like your format, you're articulate, and easy to understand and follow along with. Like most DE shavers that do UA-cam videos, you seem to have forgotten you have two arms and two hands for lathering and shaving. I don't know if someone started this trend and now everyone that follows thinks this is how it is done, or there's that many people that cannot use their off hand for anything. Just my nit-pick; no offense or insult intended. Keep up the great work and hopefully you'll build a great following on your channel.
@rood67 the hoffritz is a Merkur 37c. They have a silver plate on the handle and came With the fancy box otherwise it’s a 37c! I’ve heard the Fatip OC is better than the closed comb …yet probably still has the alignment issue that requires a tweak. I appreciate feedback. Not sure I follow what you mean though? Shave with my left hand while I start to lather with the other? I do many things with my left hand for car repairs, plumbing , electrical etc. I can shave with my left hand just prefer my right I suppose. I’m learning with a straight razor & you do switch hands with those. Same with lathering if that’s what u meant? That I only use my right hand?
Great shave! Yeah, The Macduff soap reminds me of the ZingariMan soap. Takes forever to lather and the result is a low volume super density lather. Great skin feel. I have the Chromed Fatip slant; the handle is all beat up with small hacks and dings in the chroming... I haven't used it yet... Have a great Sunday! 🤜💥🤛
@dappershaves I see you are a straight razor pro. I have a vintage ERN Wald 5/8 straight razor. I had drmatt357 On YT sharpen & hone it. I also tried a shavette. I find the tug and don’t feel smooth like a DE. Do I just have the angle of the blade wrong? Would I like a larger blade with a heavier wedge to plow through hair easier? My ERN is a hollow grind so someone said I might like a bigger wedge & blade. What do you think?
Great shave! The Hoffritz does seem like the better razor to be honest and when you add the history and personal attachment it only pushes it further ahead! Pretty cool that your father gifted it to you. This is the kind of razor you keep and take care of for life. I have never tried Macduff but I have tried Zingari man soaps and they definitely produce a very high quality protective lather. I have enjoyed both The Watchman and The Royal scents. Take care!
Well said! I’ll check those scents out. I was looking at summer cabin if I recall correctly. I can never decide if I should gold plate or nickel plate the hoffritz. I was shocked what they are going for on eBay. Not that I would ever sell it.
@@Stubblemeetssteel Personally I would go with nickel because I'm a purist and very traditional person but that's a personal decision on your part since it's your father's gift.
Great comparison. Looking forward to see your views on Parker Semi Slant. I seem to be having issues with the angle / pressure and always have little irritation. Not sure if I need to switch from ride the cap to riding the bar. Let me know your thoughts.
The Parker semi slant is a great blend of smoothness & efficiency. Yet it’s not a mild razor. It may simply be too aggressive for your skin type. That said try a few other brand blades as that can make or break many razors. Blade choice is key even if it’s maybe your favorite blade in other razors. May not be the right blade for that razor for you.
I’ve heard the PAA elliptical is pretty aggressive. Same with their “plastic” slant razors. I know you prefer a more aggressive razor so it’s probably a good fit for you. I’m curious what razor will win the slant series. Excited for the next video.

@@saguarosmart4100I lean towards nickel as well. I’m actually not a huge gold lover but for some reason on razors I enjoy gold sometimes.

So slant's shaving mechanism is like shavette or straight razor. Doesn't scrape it slices through the beard hairs.
Yes in a way they do cut similar to a straight razor. A downward sheering cut vs a scraping cut a DE razor offers. Thanks for watching.
Nice battle shave John, cheers and Happy New year!
Happy new year!
Razorock SuperSlant L1++ is a good slant for me. Maybe the L2.
This one is enticing but a little pricey to buy & hope I like it.
