I think lego should use both helmets, for example: for a character that has a visor or antenna, they give them the helmet holes, but for troopers that dont need the accesories, they just give them the old helmet mold.
I think that is a great argument, but there is still an issue with this. Antennas look terrible when placed into the helmet mold with holes, so that would need a redesign for sure in my opinion. 🤷♂️
The problem is that for visors the current helmets are perfect but are terrible for antennas Instead without accessories the look is not nice but using the old helmets we could no longer customize the clones at will That’s why I couldn’t propose a solution
I honestly think they should have made a new sun visor/bonnet and an antenna (Rangefinder) for this, because they literally just recycled them from like 2008 and the sun bonnet looks terrible on Phase 2 helmets. plus the rangefinder is just mid compared to customs, plus they always feel so loose to me.

I'm glad you don't see it as a massive problem, but I clearly have to disagree. The look of helmet holes bothers me just so much, I can't take any figures with them seriously, unless they have a visor attached, which hides them. 🤷♂️

That is fair enough, but popularity of my take shouldn't have an effect on the quality of my opinion. I agree that sales for Clones sets will do anything but drop, but for different reasons. Lego's target audience are still kids, and those obvioisly won't mind the accuracy issues like this. And believe me, there are actually a lot more older fans that agree with these takes, and wants Lego to give more attention to the quality of clone minifigures. And here's another thing. People might complain, but the demand for Clones is so big that they will buy the sets with these not very good Clones anyways, which also supports the theory of Lego possibly making clones worse than they could've been on purpose.
They certainly don't care about making awesome Clone Wars sets. That might be because the demand for Clone Wars stuff is so high that people will buy the sets anyways, even if the set quality isn't the best.
0:46 helmet holes aren't the only thing lego changed to the p2 helmet mold, they added the black brow molding above the printed visor(where the black line above the printed visor would be)

Helmet holes allow for customization/personalization. Ya know, what Lego is known for. I really don’t think there is any sort of deeper conspiracy or reason why the holes remain.
That would make sense on paper, but Lego is definitely contradicting that statement in some of their sets. If the customization is so important, then how come the clones in the Coruscant Gunship and recent Clone Battle Pack have no accessories to put into their helmets?

That's the issue, they totally could, absolutely nothing is stopping them from it! The fact that they aren't using that helmet in sets that have no accessories that you can put into the helmet is literally unbelievable, it's certainly one of the laziest things Lego Star Wars has ever done before.
I agree! I have huge respect for Lego Starr Wars in general, but I still think I have a right to talk about things that have a big room for improvent, so the theme can keep getting better over time.
I think Lego needs to get a stick out of their ass and just make clones accurate like the helmet holes are fine on P1 clones but not P2 clones which is completely dumb and the no waist cape thing is completely dumb considering other non Star Wars sets have them
I think there are probably some issues that we don't know about, otherwise it would make no sense for them to make an uglier mold when they could've used lots of inspiration from the phase 1 mold. 🤷♂️
Personally I don’t have a huge problem with the helmet holes. However, I would prefer if the non named or non specialists clones didn’t have them. It’s easy to say in hindsight but they should’ve just redesigned the visor and antenna entirely for the p2 clones. Maybe a new mold for Cody, Fox and the 501st gunners where you can’t take the visor off. With that in place maybe putting the holes in the correct spot for the antenna for other clones like Rex, Fives and the 501st officer. It’s get more complicated since they added the macro binoculars because it works well and looks really good. Then again, the changes I’ve suggested sort of ruin the aspect of customization for the clones. They can’t really take that back when they’ve just given it to us so it’s complicated. We probably won’t see changes in years just like you said.
Yeah, I kind of gotta agree with nearly everything you said. It is a pretty complicated situation, but they aren't even trying to do anything about it.
I think it’s primarily the production pipe line and the allocated budget. I definitely think Lego Star Wars teams are fully aware of the old fans complaints about the helmet holes and prints but doing something about it probably means going back to the drawing board to come up with a replacement that still allows for attachments and ease of use. See the reason the current molds are the way they are is because of the visor and the fact it has sat slightly higher than on p1 and Mandalorian helmets. The solution was to place the holes higher and create a new scanner mold. If the holes are lower the visor is lower. If they redesigned the visor to sit lower then they have 2 visor designs that sit at different heights. My optimistic mind believes they'll likely make a new visor mold within a year or 2 and make a new clone helmet with a clip function, for it most likely, however until then the helmet holes are here to stay.
These are pretty solid arguments, but it's not like something like that can stop a company like Lego from improving their clones. In the perfect world, the helmet with a visor would be a single dual molded piece. However, I really don't think the curerent helmet holes are distracting when the visor is put onto them. So instead, they could keep this mold for visors only, and change the hole placement for other attachments.

Good thinking, I'd say it's definitely a possible theory. In multiple sets, some aspects don't even serve their purpose. Clones with helmet holes don't even have accessories in their sets, and the lack of kamas keeps getting contradicted.
That's certainly a fair take. However, younger children definitely don't care about such details, and I think that is completely fine. But Lego still knows what the older collectors really want, and they fail to deliver that to us, even in 18+ sets like the UCS Venator.
To Be Honest, I Like And Hate The Helmet Holes. I Like them because they allow you to customize the clones by putting visors and antennas on them. I don't like them because it makes the Helmet a bit inaccurate on the side. Also makes it looks like the clone got his side forcefully drilled, and or like the clone was shot in the head.

I've definitely seen that take before. I personally completely respect it, there is something special about 2014-2017 phase 2 clones. However, I personally really like the modern style as well, they just look incredibly clean to me.

Personally I’m fine with the new clones the caps are annoying but the helmets look fine to me it isn’t as big as a deal as people make it out to be

We've had our fair share of P2 Clones without accessories, like Rex and Crosshair, it's time for us to get accessories after all this years.
