- My name is Don Yacovella I'm a full time furniture maker. I mostly build mid century modern style furniture along with pieces inspired by George Nakashima. This chair has been a steady seller for me over the years I've lost count of how many I've made now. This video will show the build process beginning to end.Hope you enjoy
I love that your shop actually has sawdust in it - I feel like most UA-camrs have an unrealistically clean shop.
Ha yes I always have ample sawdust. I don't know where other builders find the time to clean so well.
I think your chair is the best I've seen. I bet if you scribed the H and the curved arm out on some butcher paper with a few photocopied dimensions and sold it for $30, you could make way more than you do on the chairs themselves... Just a thought. I, for one, would buy.
Thanks! Glad you like my chair your right about selling the plans.I get lots of people from around the world asking for them. I'll have to figure out how to make digital plans or find someone else to do it for me soon.I also want to make a better version of the chair video.
'Enjoyed this build. Nice to see a fellow Bucks County person on the 'Tube.
Glad you liked my video thanks for watching!
Hello 🙋♂️.
With talent and craftsmanship that you
show here - you will never go hungry or worry
about your utilities bill coming in each month !!
Thanks 🙏
James ✌️.
Nice work!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this video. Have been wanting to learn to build a similar style chair and I learned a lot from this. Feeling more confident now.
Cool glad you liked it Thanks
Enjoy the background sounds this is relaxing and interesting, subscribed
This is the video I was looking for!, I cand build like two with a few days work!
Cool good luck glad you liked it!
Love it, love the chair. Nice work.
Thanks for watching James!
Great build and video. Enjoyed that a lot. Looking forward to more like it!
Great video, nice work on the video editing. Also a plus, NO voice over telling us what you're already doing on film. Lastly, totally awesome shirt, effing RAD dude.
Thanks Dude! I'm new to this youtube video world I really love the filming and editing part.I'm looking forward to learning all about it and getting better
Excellent video showing detail of construction
That is a classic design!
It's pretty much an exact copy of a vintage chair. I did change the curve on the arms
Love the vibes, the work is great, keep going, this is cool, no bullshit and well produce.
Thanks Dude
Muazzam bir çalışma. Çok güzel bir işçilik. Sizi izleyerek kendime birşeyler katmaya çalışıyorum.
Glad you liked my work thanks for watching!

Thanks for sharing
Beautiful job!
Glad you like it thanks for watching!
Cool job!
Great job, looks like a really comfortable chair!
Nice work! I’m a big fan of this type of project video- subscribing and hoping to see more 😊😊
Thanks Jeffery I'm really enjoying doing these videos I'm exited to learn more about it and make better videos
It is obvious you have created this same chair a few times in the past given all your great jigs and watching your hands work. What would estimate is total amount of your time it took to create those two amazing chairs? And lastly what was the long blue handle press for? Thanks.
Hi Chris yeah I've lost count of how many at this point they've been a regular seller for me online.I always build two at a time even if only one of the two is sold.It takes me about three work days to build two and really only a few hours less to build one so it's just profitable to make two.The blue thing is an electric Kreg Machine " Pocket Hole Screws" Thanks for watching and reaching out!
Awesome build! Love a nice looking chair
Thanks
Wow! Your video popped up. found it fascinating in many ways. Very similar style of woodworking, but you have more expensive tool! And bigger shop space. LOL! Became a subscriber. I'm guessing no SketchUp? I'm always sad about what I cut off. Expensive firewood. Became a subscriber.
Ha glad you liked my video and thanks for subscribing! No sketchup computers are a struggle for me. It's a miracle that I manage to sell my work online and make these videos.I'll be working hard to put out better ones. Thanks
LOL! Nice equipment. Should attempt voiceover.
Wow! That is absolutely beautiful! Just got a new subscriber. If you offered plans and templates I would buy them. Looking forward to the next build.
'Jesus Saves'
Thanks Jeremy! Maybe one day I'll do plans I have my hands full figuring out UA-cam for now.
Exelent job BEUTIFULL
Thanks Alex!
Great video! Very cool seeing your jigs and shortcuts. Im going to try and introduce more repeatability into my workflow. Quick question, what size is the larger roundover you use? 3/4?
Thanks I use a 1/2 round over on the sides of the chair and a 3/8 on the arms
Thanks!
Very awesome video, i loved your bulding chair, i am wondering if you could give the tamplate so i can print it to trace it on the wood, it will be big help for me. Even if i should pay you money in return its okay for me, thank you bro
Thanks for watching my video! Sorry my computer skills are pretty weak I have no idea how to make digital plans. I build those chairs with my original plywood templates. I do old fashioned scale pencil drawings for everything else.I've had several requests for digital plans and one of these days I'll devote the time to figuring that out .Right now all my available brain power is devoted to learning about UA-cam.
@@donyacovella1230 thanks for your answer bro, i appreciate it, i will try to watch again and draw too.
Great video. What is used to hold up the seated cushion? The video never shows us how or what is used?
Thanks for watching! I used upholstery strapping held in with metal clips under the seat. You can get it all on Amazon if you do a search.I'm still very new to these UA-cam videos stay tuned and I promise they will get better.
Great build… i like your jigs as well
Thanks for watching
Is your chop saw super accurate on the 45° angle cuts or does that not matter if it is a 1 degree off ? It looks like you just set it ro what the dial says and go.
Do you offer plans or pdf to print at 100% scale? Thanks! Love your work!
Thanks for watching my video! I'm not currently offering plans UA-cam is still pretty new to me it's only been a few months. For now I'm just going to focus on making better videos I have a lot to learn.I think sometime in the future I will offer plans once I get better and more comfortable making videos.
The arm detail is top notch, definitely unique. I'd like to see how the form/function of it is.... any feedback on that, sir? SUBBED
Thanks for watching! I’m not sure exactly what you mean by the form/function but if you want to word that differently I’m happy to answer any questions about the chair.
What i meant was the arm detail being an upward curve. Does that make the arm rest any more or less comfortable than a traditional flat arm rest? I love your design overall, probably the most unique one I've seen.
I think it's more comfortable but I think it depends on the person.@@MrCuervo22779
that chair is just beautiful, can I ask how much you charge for it?
Thanks $1495.00
That loose shirt was making me nervous, especially around the jointer.
What tool you're using to make the grooves? Thank you.
I use the festool domino to make to loose mortise and tenon joints. You could also do that with dowels or a plunge router in a fixture.
@@donyacovella1230 Thank you!
1 more question do you make the cushions too?
Thanks for watching! I calibrate my chop saw pretty often so it's accurate. I don't know how to sew yet I've been using a local upholstery guy for years.
@donyacovella1230 I want to make my first chair is why I asked wish me luck!
It's best to learn how to build chairs by doing.Use inexpensive or scrap wood for your try.and don't expect a masterpiece.Your going to learn a lot on your first one you'll get a little better with each one.@@VicFroman
