I would love to have heard what seven o'clock would have sounded like had we been tuned to 1500m or VHF, the remnants of the Light Programme, as Paul Hollingdale continued Breakfast Special
exactly I've always wondered what radio 2 were doing at 7am when they started I've heard lots about Tony Blackburn and the starter radio One nothing about Radio 2 because Paul hardingdale was a great broadcaster and will be interesting to see and hear his show but I don't think anyone did an off air recording.
It is just incredible what this country has achieved in terms of the quality and quantity of `modern` music since the late 50s despite those self righteous prigs at the BBC. Then we have had to suffer the `cult of the DJ for as many decades where the music comes a long distant second to some brainless windbag and his myriad of `jingles` and other cr-p. Blackburn is and always has been a classic example of that. Kenny Everett is/was the ONLY one with any talent. You can bin the rest.
I was four and getting ready for school. I loved Arnold !
R.I.P radio 247! Welcome to radio heaven! Gone but never forgotten! ☹️😪
Yes! But the big story was year earlier in 1966 when Harold Wilson's government introduced the Broadcasting Act that 'killed' the pirate ships.
I was 20 and getting ready for work, Happy days and care free time before PC, H&S Diversity, Net zero and all the other Crap.
Give it a rest it's a nice clip of a radio show not the Daily Mail comments section.
