DO THIS to AVOID ever NEEDING to REPAIR your Laptop Hinges

  • A simple practice to prevent ever needing laptop hinge repair. This is a great way to avoid a possible costly laptop repair in the near future and will keep your laptop in pristine opening and closing condition for many years to come.
Most laptops will have an interior bracket or frame holding the screen within the top cover or enclosure of the laptop screen. This bracket acts as a brace and is almost always attached to the interior hinges of the laptop in one way or another. When you open and close the computer from the top middle of the screen bezel you ensure that an even amount of pressure is being applied and placed on both right and left hinges of the laptop. This will insure that the hinges last the longest and this is also a very affect practice to prevent damaging the laptop screen as well. A lot of todays laptop screens are thin and sensitive to pressure if applied in the wrong places.

    NOTICE! :
Opening the laptop as you show here MAY distribute the force evenly, but the hinges will still break at some point as they age, or even most-likely break before their lifespan, OR may destroy the plastic and render the hinge useless.. And that is because of one thing....Tensional stress.
Manufacturers release almost all laptops with their hinges very tight, just to achieve that "premium feel".
What worked for me is, Loosening those hinge bolts JUST A LITTLE BIT (evenly ofcourse). That way, there's enough firmness to hold the screen on it's own, and to open and close the screen isn't a matter of life and death.
    Well, hope this helps ☺

It’s more about extending the longevity of the hinges. Not necessarily to save them from ever breaking. If you’re careful and apply even balance as shown here even the shittiest laptop hinges from Acer should last until your next laptop purchase or until it dies.

@@RorschDG-2 The hinges are metal and metal ages...Having less force on them will prevent them from breaking compared to their limit WITH the force. Plus not everyone change laptops frequently...I still have mine running 7 years now.

The hinges on the screen side are mounted with 6 screws that go into the magnesium part of the screen lid.

Broken standoffs on older laptops Allways worry me...luckily on some they have the thick arms that go up the screen, and the failure point is on the bottom section, luckily some commoner Grade Pentium M and 4 laptops i own only displayed minor signs of breaking, but turned out it was just loose Screws, add some threadlocker and they're all good

I feel like computers are like people. No one is “exactly” the same. After years of repairs, builds, upgrades, I seem to now be able to visualize exactly what you were describing and store it in the workshop bank where all that compiled information from experience has come from over time. You have to feel the hinge in a way. The plastic, the give how and where it is and isn’t stiff. If anyone can develop an actually “feel” for the computer in their hands with a simple visual construct of how and where the mechanism is working and turning,, you’ll never break another hinge or bezel or plastic rivet mount again. 💯💯💪🙏

I learned something new thanks to you, man. I’ll never forget this. I’ll be extra careful on my new F15 laptop to make those hinges last even longer, after all it was advertised to have excellent (military grade) build quality on the palm rest which it does have. And my bro shouldn’t worry about having to repair his new laptop for a few years. He had an HP laptop since Christmas 2017 that broke its hinge in 5 years, got that repaired but we barely use it nowadays because of how goddamn slow it became, to the point of being barely usable despite loading from an SSD which we replaced it with. It got so slow to the point where I just couldn’t take it anymore. That’s the reason I bought an ASUS F15 laptop from Amazon for my birthday this year. I also have a Lenovo Thinkpad T470 which I got refurbished last year from Best Buy online which I intend for work. My bro got an Acer Aspire recently and he said he’ll take extremely good care of it. And I trust him when he said that.

Totally agree. Usually it's metal hinges mounted to plastic or on better laptops metal hinges on a metal frame and that's mounted on plastic.
