I've been listening to this song for over 30 years and it still gives me goosebumps. This is the last song of the Smiths on their studio albums. This is perfection.
This song is a phenomenally bittersweet embodiment of a recognition that each and every lifetime is finite and imperfect. The tension expressed here IS a real perfection - of being 'at the end of us'. :)
Sometimes at 4:35am I like to get drunk and listen to very impactful songs that helped me not kill myself. I still love this aspect of jealousy the Moz portrays. Life tends to come and go, as long as you know: I just want to be a better engineer than you & i am not very good at being 2nd place
I just watched this movie. Absolutely incredible. Loved every minute and I’ll watch it hundreds of times more. Yes, Cybil is unbelievable looking, but the acting from Timmothy Bottoms, Ben Johnson and Cloris Leachman really make the movie.
I Won’t Share You Lyrics I won't share you, no I won't share you With the drive And ambition The zeal I feel This is my time The note I wrote As she read, she said "Has the Perrier gone Straight to my head Or is life sick and cruel, instead?" "Yes!" No - no - no - no - no - no No - no - no - no - no - no Oh... I won't share you, no I won't share you With the drive And the dreams inside This is my time Life tends to come and go That's okay As long as you know Life tends to come and go As long as you know Know, know, know, know, know Know, know, know, know Oh... I won't share you, no I won't share you With the drive And the dreams inside This is my time I want the freedom and I want the guile I want the freedom and the guile Oh, life tends to come and go As long as you know Know, know, know, know Know, know, know, know Oh... I won't share you, no I won't share you I'll see you somewhere I'll see you sometime Darling ...
"I'll see you somewhere, I'll see you sometime, darling..." The last and most beautiful dying flash of a short-lived but wonderful Supernova. The fading harmonica part at the end of song is so gorgeous, same with Morrissey's faded humming at the end of Unloveable. Why didn't they hold it just a bit longer lol.
My personal favourite Smiths Song. It's an absolutely beautiful song. From the guitar right through to Morrisey's hunting vocal amazing tune by an amazing band.
Just learned to play this song and I just can’t get it out of my head. One of my absolute favorite songs in general and one of many favorites by The Smiths. Lots of people tend to dismiss Moz as a snobby, histrionic person. I think it’s easy to have that opinion because of the persona that he cultivated. I think most people miss the absolute genius of his lyrics and the inherent silliness in many of his lyrics. I love this song because it captures a sneering sort of longing feeling that we have all felt for someone would or could never be ours in the first place. Or maybe that’s just me.
Love how you edited the last picture show to this iconic swan song of The Smiths, thank you you made my day when this popped up on my youtube feed while chilling with my cat😌
I first saw her at Palantine Campaign headquarters at 63rd and Broadway. She was wearing a white dress. She appeared like an angel. Out of this filthy mess, she is alone. They... cannot... touch... her.
Blew my mind that you used a Cybill Shepherd movie for this. I had a mad crush on this girl around the same time Moonlighting was popular and she always reminded me of a young Cybill, and every time I heard this song I would think of her to the point they would become synonymous. But I guess that was another world.
I love this song the album was great I have only one complaint they broke up a little bit after I bought the album what you call a Bittersweet memory 😔😔😔😔
Thank you UA-cam for letting me discover this Song in 2025, best Start to the new Year 🎉❤ PS: What's the name of the Movie? It's like this Song was written for it, it matches so beautifully ⭐
He told me today that I was spending too much time in religion, which makes me think that I DO NOT WANT YOU TO SHARE ME, with ANYONE, but with OUR 7 CHILDREN who are A, B, C, D, E, F & G!¡!
I've been listening to this song for over 30 years and it still gives me goosebumps. This is the last song of the Smiths on their studio albums. This is perfection.
For that reason alone it brings me to tears so often. One of the greatest tracks ever recorded.
@@saucyvinnie3812 The same here. Not tears of sadness, but of joy. Such a perfect song for an ending. Damn, I love this band so much.
Would you believe I just discovered this song today and just cant stop listening it, album version, live versions, its really hit me.
@@lardosian listen to " I know its over"
When played on a turntable that one can slow it down just a bit, its sooo incredible...
"Life tends to come and go." RIP Andy Rourke. ❤
Muito linda essa musica...❤
In case you're wondering, the scenes are from "The Last Picture Show" from 1971.
Saw Cybil Shepherd in the thumbnail, came here to comment that. Glad somebody else recognized Last Picture Show.
A song that drapes over the band like a funeral shroud...
I think that is the perfect description for this beautiful song!
😥😥😫😫❤❤❤
Not really
@@PhilBig68 It's pretty clear this is about Morrissey wanting Marr
That's a lovely way to put it
The Smiths made some of the most profound music ever made in my opinion. I will always love them .
this is truly the most beautiful song ever
This song is a phenomenally bittersweet embodiment of a recognition that each and every lifetime is finite and imperfect.

I totally blew it with a girl during my senior year in high school. It was there for the taking and passed on her...I've regretted it every day since.
@jm gee The sting of this song doesn't make it go away, but here we are listening to it.
How old are you?
It all ends in heartbreak either way.
Me too
This is simply amazing song so beautiful to listen to god bless the smiths
That women unbelievable looking !

Yes, I forgot how stunning she is. Totally agree.
Thanks I was wondering where I’ve seen her before
Beautiful film for a beautiful song.
It's "I won't share you with my life", now its turning a successful and adventurous corner. Its very unique.

Are you okay pal? Want to talk about the fragility of life sometime?
@@CheeseAlderman that comment was definitely typed at 4:35am, drunk, 3 weeks ago.

Genius lyrics- beautiful
Cybill Shepherd was so beautiful in this. I only knew her from Moonlighting, 80s hair and shoulder pads.
A brilliant song which draws the curtain down on Morrissey/Marr's songwriting lives.........its an epic finale.......very tearful......!!!!!
Incredible song, incredible film
This is The Last Picture Show Film 1971, with Sybil Shepherd, Director Peter Bognovovich.

It’s like Return of the Jedi. A depressing truth that something good has ended forever.
But..we have the " mandolin".

Really the saddest of all of their songs. There is no hope in this one just resignation.
Como eu amo essa música ❤️❤️
Para mim é das melhores dos Smiths. Simplesmente genial.
I really wish to hear the version where the harmonica continues at the end. Just to dance by myself for just a little bit more.

That sweet "whatever" look Cybil gives at 01:19 slays me❤❤❤ They don't make gals like that anymore.

He wrote this song about me. I've withheld this revelation all these years. But I shall reveal no further.
The Smiths disappeared shortly after composing this song. Their last signature
For me, this is the diametric opposite of 'Reel Around The Fountain" their very first album track. Ironically, this is their _last_ album track.
