  • Hello everyone!
Today I want to share with you my latest purchase, the #GeoTech Pro GFM 860 LE, and how it has made my strimming season so much easier on my homestead.
As you maybe already seen, my property has a lot of wild grass and vegetation that needs to be strimmed regularly.
Before getting this heavy duty flail mower, the task was both extremely time-consuming and physically demanding.
However, with the #GeoTech Pro GFM 860 LE, I can now tackle the toughest and thickest vegetation and see myself able to effectively maintain the homestead land.
The #GeoTech Pro GFM 860 LE features a powerful 15hp engine and should handle any type of terrain, although, for now, I only used it in the plainer parts of the terrain.
With this flail mower I can now tackle the strimming season in a fraction of the time, leaving me with more time to focus on other important tasks around the homestead.
But before I let you see the rest of this week video, be aware that this is NOT a paid product placement, and that I do NOT have any kind of sponsorship, endorsement or other commercial relationship with #Agrieuro store (unfortunately!).
I bought this flail mower myself with my own money because of it's usefulness, and believe it's one of the best investments (along with the dumper) I have made for the work here at the homestead!
Thanks for watching, and I hope this video has inspired you to also try a flail mower like this #GeoTech Pro GFM 860 LE for yourself and make strimming/mowing season a breeze!

What a great tool for keeping your acreage under control. Several suggestions for you going forward. Keep the rotary cutting head set to cut at 15 cm. to protect the herbaceous heads of the diverse vegetation you have growing in your fields. Up close to you structures you may want to lower the cutting height to 10 cm for "appearance". Certainly beats strimming! Good job finding this mower. 😊 Are there attachments you can switch with the rotary flail head? (Copy and paste)

That looks like it is cutting the grass very well...... i wont tell my goats or they might be upset as it looks like a great forage for them and still so green at this time of the year 👍👍

Eheh, the footage is from last April. Now it's all very dry, typical Portuguese summer: all brown and dusty. I cut the grass but I keep it on the ground so it protects the soil from the scorching sun, and also for it to decompose and return the nutrients.
Thank you so much for watching and keep following me! Much appreciated!

If you check out the companies product offering there is a sickle bar mower that would be just the ticket for cutting forage for a homestead scale animal herd.

One more thought to share with you; On your slopes, cut the meadow grasses on contour in strips. For instance, mow 2 cuts wide then leave one width uncut. This pattern method has several benefits: 1) The pollinators do not lose their entire meadow at one time. 2) You get to enjoy the wildflowers while walking on a nicely cut path. 3) Most importantly, the rainwater that sheets down the slope will be captured by the heavy meadow strips so it can soak into your land. With each new season then, move the unmowed section uphill one cutting head width. Using this pattern sequence, the entire meadow gets renewed once every three years and the ecology is never unbalanced. Hope that makes sense 😊

First of all, thank you very much for the information you're sharing with me!
Unfortunately, I must have made some mistake because somehow your first comment has disappeared... I'm so sorry for that... :'(
What you say is very correct, but in the areas where these slopes are, I am required by law to clear every grasses due to the fire hazard risks. I can choose to do that (or simply leave it be) in some other slopes far away from the house and village, but here, next to the house, I cannot.
Thank you so much for following me and for all your suggestions! Much appreciated!

By the way, and responding to your inqueries in the lost comment, this flail mower cannot have other tools attached. But in my case that's not a problem. I just needed the flail mower and the dumper I showed on another video for my homestead works.
The main advantages of buying this ones at Agrieuro are the price, if you get a promo the value can be quite good, and the fact, once you buy a tool from them, you can buy almost any replacement part for the machine and engine.
Obviously, I'm still learning to work (and correctly maintain) this equipments, but for now it has been a game changer and a good learning school! :)

@@AlongThePathsOfNature My pleasure! I'm happy to know that my thoughts may be useful. Completely forgot the " X meters from a structure" mowing requirement - but you get the idea. Use a "strip" where you can. The birds and bees will be very grateful 😊 I can still see the first comment - no worries. Technology eludes me most of the time. Access to parts is so important. Good thinking.😊
