Listen up, I'm about to learn you some knowledge. Butter and margarine can be used in the exact same way, but they're not interchangeable. Butter is made from dairy and has that signature flavor that margarine, a vegetable-based product, lacks. Because margarine is made from vegetable oil, it's cheaper and many people think that it's healthier than butter. However, this is actually untrue because of the type of fat. Butter, a saturated fat, is solid at room temperature. While this isn't necessarily the healthiest thing ever, it's way better than margarine. Vegetable oil is normally liquid at room temperature, so the oils are chemically changed into trans fats in order to solidify and store better. Trans fats have been linked to an increase of your risk of heart disease, inflammation, and several other conditions.
In conclusion, butter is better for you but worse for your wallet, so it's a personal choice which you want to use.
