Yeah man, they’re actually friends. Both have been on the youth freestyle circuit since youngsters. And obviously Wick coming from California to Wisconsin; he’s been well traveled so they definitely have known each other for quite awhile. But couldn’t agree more, love the respect Marinelli shows pretty much everyone he wrestles, while also simultaneously keeping the attitude that “he can’t be beat”(which you have to have @ this level to win period). Hard to hate on a guy who’s doing things the right way! And after this Dual, BTN aired that incredible story that relates so much to so many, sadly including myself who lost a brother who played Football Collegiately @ Clemson. While, I went a different route & wrestled for NC State for one season, then went to The Citadel to wrestle my final 3 years. After the dual between Iowa and Wisconsin, BTN aired that documentary about the relationship of Marinelli and the late Eli Stickley, who actually wrestled at Wisconsin and is the twin brother of Iowa Director of Wrestling Operations and Alex's wife, Moriah Marinelli. It’s a heartwarming story if you haven’t seen it yet, I’m sure UA-cam has it somewhere possibly. Great post Thomas & couldn’t agree more!
Wisconsin Wrestling is on its way to the top. You can see the improvements from these new coaches already. Give them another year or two and this team will be among the best in country every year
I'll believe it when I see it. I'm a Badger fan, but they've always been behind in wrestling and losing 35-2 to Iowa sure doesn't help change my opinion. With Iowa and Penn State, they've got a big hill to climb to relevant in the Big Ten.
Wick specializes on the mat and especially on top. He needs to take this into account more in the third. I feel like wick was engaging on the feet too much in the third. He had no stall warnings, he could of held out for OT.
He should have taken top. He would have easily ridden out Marinelli and send it into overtime. Marinelli, since getting cradled multiple times by Wick at the NCAAs, usually just hangs out on bottom and chooses to win the match on his feet.
Love the energy. Quick question I graduated H.S., maybe im getting old but I dont recall being able to pull and snap down on the head with both hands. Was this rule changed...
tall prep school wrestlers have much less strength than someone like Marinelli, cant finish a shot without strength and power from somewhere... lats, legs, forearms something needs to be stronger
Wick vs Marinelli is always so entertaining to watch. Marinellis motor is so impressive.
Marinelli is a sportsman. He won with class and helping up Wick is a great instance of the respect these two beasts have for one another. Awesome!

I think Marinelli sold his hairline to the Devil for superhuman strength
Love watching how hype Iowa coaches get for their wrestlers
How is Marinelli still in college at 45 years old??
he's a junior...
@@CoCoSWISS1 oh wow. Maybe his grandkids will gift him some Rogaine before his senior year.
@@CoCoSWISS1 *insert r/whoosh joke here

These guys were good, but could never make the final leap to NCAA champ level.
Not the last time these two will clash
Young men observe and copy Marinelli's behavior. That is how a gentleman carries himself.
Let’s go wick CA represent
Nice comment from the ref there at the end. Something like "know you had a lot of pressure there, great job."
Evan Wick looks like Louden Swain

hilarious match but good beginning & ending
they were getting some good slaps in. .....love it

Thata a rule in freestyle not folkstyle
0:30 to 0:45 viciousness
Didn't think this was boxing that Maranelli was doing.
Short stocky boys winning
Not always. The good, long stature leg riders are always difficult. Technique is key.
Iowa coach is heading for a stroke!
Theses guys need to mix it up
Evans foot work was looking real sloppy
How is Evan Wick wrestling 165? He looks like he should be at 149. Someone take him home and feed him.
Not alot of wrestling like 2 bulls maybe they should go to the side
I think Joseph takes out Marinelli this year.

if the first thing you do after wrestling is pick your nose idk if you came with your head in the game...
@@mikeferster7966 he was pulling out cotton used to stop a nose bleed caused during the match. A lot tougher than you know.
How is the other kid even ranked 3rd lmao hes not even good. Hes so shaky
Why is he ranked 3rd because he beat everyone else????????
