- So a week ago a slight noise started coming from the engine and gradually got louder and louder over the days ..so convinced it was the alternator I removed the belt .. it wasn't the alternator 😕
Good luck to your lad with the test. I did mine in an 1984 uno in 1990 and had to pretend that I had a handbrake as they were shockingly bad. Passed my test and crashed it 2 weeks later as I thought I was Schumacher until I hit a JCB on a bend. Had to pay for that car for 3 year's...
terry atkinson thanks 😉 funny u say that as he is chasing his first classic trying to get him a mk1 or mk2 ford fiesta ..now crazy money 😂. .and I only said to him last night how about a fiat uno with the crossfire engine. . None a them around either 😂
Can't see why the cambelt cover would move unless something hit it or a bolt fell out. Is the belt tension ok?
terry atkinson Terry .. the heat from the manifold made the plastic ends where the bolts go through brittle. . And 2 of them broke clean off thus causing it to tilt in on the belt .. you can see in video the top half of the case is worn through ..as for the sensors I had to remove them in order to gain access to the case and take it off .. but back in place now all running good .. I would leave the cover off completely except my son is doing his driving test next week and I'm afraid the tester won't let him use the car with the cover missing ..
Greg Casey atleast you know what is wrong and no serious harm done. You could try and repair the damage with resin and spray it black or buy another one
That was your crankshaft position sensor. Don't touch it or she won't run. At all.
