I found that it didn't give you a place to enter federal taxes withheld when you enter by section- it does when you list each sale individually, but the consolidated form doesn't show which federal tax withholding amount applies to which sale (I can figure it out on days when there was only one sale, but an example is on 8/14 it just lists 12 amounts- none are attributed to a specific transaction. So I have no idea where to put these :/
Tax man, I transferred an old old traditional Ira that I have not contributed to since 2014 to fidelity in 2023, will I be receiving a tax form from the old broker for the transfer, or can I file?
I have a 1099-cons from a brokerage that has the usual 1099-DIV and 1099-INT. But it also has a 1099-misc. It has something to do with an investment in tax free munis. The 1099-MISC just has one number in line 8 "Substitute payments in lieu of dividends or interest". How do I enter this into turbotax? If I say "add a 1099-MISC" it goes down this rabbit hole of "what kind of business is this for?", when this has nothing to do with any kind of business.

@@eataxresolutions Yeah, thanks. I think the mistake I was making was entering the amount from box 8, in another box (box 1 maybe?) and that's what sent me down the rabbit hole. So it was just a mistake on my part.
This one section is killing me because my consolidated 1099 is different than my form 1099B and also different from the supplement. 😫 Do you ever take Zoom appointments for a fee, just to go over this one section, à la cart tax advice, so to say? 😂
